Chuck, Brilliant presentation, just starting out with frigate, currently migrating from Blue Iris. Thanks for sharing your config because it connected the dots and now I understand some of the issues I was creating and the process to streamline my configuration. Will update my Wyze 3 cam as per your direction. Thanks !!
I am tempted to make a more in-depth frigate video but they are fast with their updates and it can get very complex! I am far from an expert but it is tough to get on top of at first!
Nice video!!! quick and stupid question: with the firmware on the Wyze camera means that the camera cannot be controlled from the Wyze App right? This is a feature that I am looking for to not rely on their Cloud service at all but I want to double check. Thanks!
Correct. It is no longer responsive in the app after the firmware. I probably should’ve clarified that was why we remove the Wyze logo and motion boxes before installing it. With this firmware, it’s all local and processing motion and person detection, and saving recordings, through Frigate (or another nvr)
@@ChuckBuilds thanks for the confirmation. One more: is the video streaming good and responsive in the web interface? I did change the firmware on v2 but it was too slow
@@ChuckBuilds very cool! i just printed one myself and it gives me a laugh every time i see it. funny enough, it was also the first thing i printed myself too
So is there anyway to connect the Wyze cam V3 to a home network that doesn’t have internet and view the Wyze cam through your phone still? Doesn’t need to be through the Wyze app. I’ll use whatever. I have both android and IOS.
I follow all steps and when I boot with the SD card loaded I get the initial robotic voice as heard in the video stating initializing and I believe a second one saying transferring but after that nothing and the camera still shows in the wyze app and no web ui at the cams IP. Any ideas what happened/how to fix? Also, on the github site the last step mentions SSH keys, but it doesn't appear you did anything with that.
did you update the config file to enable the web server? I also don't use ssh to update the camera. I just edit the conf file and use the webserver initially, and I haven't had any reason to go back and make changes. You could set that up but I'd rather just re-edit the files than do it over ssh.

this was a really well-made video. good job. look forward to seeing what else you put out
Thanks!

@@kirksteinklauber260 For Frigate? or the Camera Web Interface? I'd say mine was pretty decent on both. Not incredible but pretty good for
@@ChuckBuildsfor web interface of the camera. Thanks!
i LOVE your bot!!! i have to have one. did you 3D print it, or buy it??? i'm obsessed
edit: found the .stl file in your video's description--thanks!!
I printed it! One of the first prints when I got an ender 3 a few years ago.

I use Frigate but you could use any NVR with RTSP. HomeAssistant would support it.
@@ChuckBuilds I thank you for your quick reply.
Will check out the program you recommended and I’ll let you know how it works later on.
Thanks again.

@@ChuckBuilds thanks for the response. I did update the conf file. I downgraded the firmware and just got the firmware to flash. Thanks for the help!
Can you use the Wyze Bridge instead of the mini hacks firmware ?
If it puts out a rtsp stream, I’m not familiar with wyze bridge
Do you know if this works on the v4? e.g. the model wyzec4?
I don't believe so. Atleast it isn't listed on the github for the project.
Will this allow you to tap into the camera in python? Im looking to make a diy timelapse camera for my laser
Not natively but I would imagine there is more support for Go2RTC or RTSP to integrate it.
