One question: is there a substitute for tapioca flour/starch? What about corn starch? I’ve been wanting to make bubble tea for so long...
Unfortunately it doesn't work with corn starch and there's not really any substitute that I know of :/ The closest thing I can think of is mochiko because it does give a chewy texture but it's more stretchy like mochi

I like to use potato starch for my boba, tapioca flour is so expensive in my local asian supermarkets and so far I always had good results, would recommend to still add some flavour drops like vanilla cause only potato starch tastes kinda funky, hope that helps!!!:)

@@feedmeimei in my local supermarkets we have something called „Kartoffelstärke // Kartoffelmehl“ which is basically potato starch, tapioca flour is made from the maniok root, which is pretty similar in taste and consistency to potatoes, similar for the starch. I‘ve tried it a few times and it worked quite well, as mentioned above I would still ad a few flavour drops like vanilla but besides that I think it‘s a pretty good substitute! :D bonus: It only costs about 1$ and tapioca starch costs like 5$ 🙈
