- Let's revisit the Old R.S Pura Railway Station. Before 1947 train used to run from Jammu to Sialkot (Now in Pakistan) Jammuities often used to visit Sialkot which used to the twin city of Jammu. Do comment and share! :)

I am from Sialkot, Pakistan Baba G recalled Railway Station "DALOWALI", which was around 7-km from Sialkot city towards Jammun. My nana G (maternal grad father) used to go from Sialkot to Jammun.He was an instructor in P&T (Postal and Telegraph) department. He used to tell us various stories.
My grand parents had come from "Dhallewali" to Jammu,
Is it the same "Dalowali" you are referring?
They had left their house and things behind. I would like to visit that place sometime!

This village is near the Sialkot Cantt railway station which was the first railway station starting from Sialkot towards Jammu. The second railway station was Suchetgarh and next was RS Pura. While dhallewali is a village also in sialķot Dist but that is different from Daluwali. Dhallewali is near Marala headworks. Love and respect from Sialkot pakistan

I'm from Bundelkhand, our region wasn't affected by partition at all, very few people moved out and very less sindhi and punjabi refugees came in.
Yet I feel so connected to the history of partition idk why
Over the years when I moved to bigger cities I met so many Punjabis/Sindhis whose grandparents had moved from the other side, built a new life here from scratch and I could see how proud and connected to their roots these people were.

I have visited RS Pura and Miran Sahib several times in 1990s, but did not find any remnant of the old railway tracks. However, I do remember the railway tracks with wrought iron lines at Bikram Chowk in 1970s when the Train station was intact (there were two platforms) and was being used as a workshop by JK State Road Transport.

India's Historical Gratitude to Jammu-Srinagar Capital Shifting - Now Ended--------------India's
military operations in Kashmir valley in 1947-1948 owe their logistical
facilitation to then derelict road between Jammu and Srinagar which
came to India after the Accession of the Riyasat of Jammu and Kashmir.This
narrow road had wooden bridges etc and was used only twice a year
during the biannual shifting of Riyasat's capital between Jammu and
Srinagar .The
Maharajas of J and K wished avoiding the main highway passing through
the territory of the British .for the sake of privacy and hence had got
built a simple though dangerously passing across the formidable Pir
Panjal mountains . This road was used nearly only twice a year nearly
exclusively for carrying Darbar shifting specific traffic. Just before
the convoys moved on this road it was repaired in a makeshift manner .
Before 1947 the main highway connecting Jammu and Srinagar ran through
Sialkot and Muzzafarabad - the Jhelum Road -then under British India's
direct control.After Partition of India this went to Pakistan .. In fact
during the time delay in Maharaja Hari Singh's decision on Accession of
J and K ,Pakistan's military and political leaders would arrogantly
boast that Kashmir was in Pakistan's pocket as for even ' one can of
kerosene ' the Valley depended on the Sialkot Highway which Pakistan had
under her control..Maharaja's
special purpose Darbar shifting road which was first used for Indian
Army's logistical support to the Valley and connectivity to Ladakh -
through the Zoji La Pass .In
its constantly upgraded form this erstwhile simple / rudimentary road
is , now ,India's main and world standard Highway to Kashmir

there is still a rail line from sialkot station to border. rail lines are still pivoted well on the wooden logs and it seems Pak rail still look after the lines until i saw it from sialkot rail station till daluwali.

Before Partition , Dera Baba Nanak was a very
important , Highway / Railway line ( with its Railway Cum Road bridge
over River Ravi ) linking Delhi /Amritsar / Jullundur routes with
another strategic town - Sialkot.
From Sialkot the Highway split- to Jammu and via Muzaffarabad ( Jhelum Road to Srinagar . The main highway connecting Jammu and Srinagar ran through Sialkot and Muzzafarabad .
From Sialkot , a narrow gauge train ran ( Via Ranbir Singh Pura ) to Jammu.
Old Jammu station ( in derelict condition ) stills exists on the Right Bank of River Tawi.
When , broad gauge railway line was built by India to Jammu , the new Railway station ( on the Left Bank of the River Tawi ) was named Jammu Tawi

Thank you very much that you have made this video on my request. You have done a remarkable work. But I request you kindly make a video of the old Jammu Railway Station site. If the railway station has been demolished you can make the video of the site and show the direction of the way from which railway line entered the station. And also make a video of the meeran Sahib railway station just like you have made video of Suchetgarh Railway Station. And above all and most important make a video of the railway line remnants from Suchetgarh Railway station to the border. If the railway line is not there, there must be a path showing the railway line. This railway line was of a very historical importance because it was the only railway connection between India and Jammu and Kashmir. If you can do this work, sure you will save a part of the history, if you trace the complete route of railway line from Jammu to the Sachetgarh border then it will be a great work. I visited Dalowale last in 1962, when I was 12 years. Rail Track was intact. I visited again in 2021. No signs, but the thickly populated mohalla is known as PATRI, Rail lines from Sialkot City station to Sialkot Cantt station are still there, though dilapidate at several places. Sialkot Cantt Railway station though in bad condition is also intact. Being in Cantt area, the artifacts are safe from pilferage and Qabza Group. Credit goes to Pakistan Army.
