Etho, You should use Chicken Chunk's chunk loader, very simple setup and from my experience it doesnt destroy tickrate and it works between dimensions. Also, Draconic Evoloution Has a spawner that will spawn mobs really fast and regardless of player distance, light levels, and mob cap. Plus you can take that knowledge of the mod to Skyfactory 2.5
Well the point of the chunkloader was to keep the endermen spawning. But no chunkloader i know of will cause normall mobs to spawn. He will need to make a mob spawner that dont requre a player nearby and chunkload that.

This would mimic real players trying to conserve health and also prevent them from ceaselessly charging you.

Perhaps if Turturdar is near one of his comrades (within 5-15 blocks of them) he will try to split up and go to a different area 75% of the time or will stay with them 25% of the time. I don't know how hard that would be to implement in the code but it's an idea considering you keep on getting mobbed by them. IDK it might ruin the fun of it.
Depending on if CustomNPCs has functions to tell what players are doing, he could make it more like the game by making it so if they are within a certain range of Etho and he is not sneaking then they know the direction he is in and try to navigate to him, and when he's sprinting the distance is larger, and when he is crouching they can't "hear" him, well as making it so that if they "hear" etho then they crouch.

The reason the smeltery lost it's liquids and the iron stopped pumping back in is because it was half loaded and considered incomplete MOST of the time. This is related to your tick rate issue. If you half load multiblock structures or run pipes/power cables out of chunk loaded areas, your game will continuously attempt to load and unload the attached chunks, causing tick lag. This is actually where all issues with chunk loaders come from. Server lag is rarely ever caused by chunk loaders, it's people not knowing how they work, and building half their crap outside loaded chunks.
I think Etho should try to implement a shared-knowledge system between the Turturdar NPCs to share his location between themselves when he is spotted, so the NPCs can home in on that location.
I love watching you so custom NPC programming as a person who knows JS it's strangely satifying watching someone else learn it. So feel free to do CustomNPC and ComputerCraft on camera, i'd love to see that. Thanks for great videos as always!)
For your energy buffer, the RF storage from ender io is quite a bit better because they combine into one big storage and you can make a display with how much RF is in it, how much is being used, how much is being made, and things like that. Love the series. Keep it up!
I'm no CS:Go expert, but i like to watch a good, high rank match from time to time and it seems, that communication is a very important thing in this game. I assume, that in your finished minigame bots ain't gonna be 10 clones of Turturdar, so how about giving them some communication AI? For example if one bot spots you, he "tells" the others your whereabouts and they randomly decide to help him to attack, try to flank or sneak behind, or even to back off and wait. When he goes to the right and then left, into the open area; there is usually 1 person with a sniper rifle on the other side. (And most spots are pretty obvious if you look around the map :) coming from someone with 1400+ hours this may be relative, but you know what I mean)
"You should" and "inspired" don't belong in the same sentence very often, in order to make something be inspired by something else, you need it to inspire you, that's what separates it from just copying or just being themed. Etho, mobs normally dont spawn in minecraft without a nearby player, even if there's a chunkloader. You CAN work around this by using cursed earth as spawning ground. Cursed earth will force mobs to spawn and they'll get some special tag preventing them from despawning. So other chunkloader + cursed earth should work ;) Thanks for the great vid!
Bad idea, didn't Etho say something wanting to be able to dodge the shots? That's why he has them at low proj speed, and him using them would be unfair to the bots, proj speed is really op if others don't have it
With the custom NPC's mod they can't shoot the modded guns so they end up just shooting a projectile like what they do now. Ethos can just use the gun item and the sound

A thing you could do that I see many suggesting is get Flan's Mod and have the NPC's hold the guns. While the NPC's wouldn't be able to fire the guns, you could let them fire the CustomNPC's bullets (used in the CustomNPC's guns). You could change their damage accordingly from what weapon they're using.

Etho maybe you could build certain point on the map and if the NPC passes over that point then they could either get upgraded weapons or armor. Another great video by the way!
The problem with endermen spawning wasn't in the chunk loaders, you simply need to be in the natural spawn range. You can try to emulate a player presence somehow to make it work.
Building a dinky pve arena seems really pointless. I dont know why people always recreate other games in minecraft. Its never as good as the originals. Why not just play killing floor, or warhammer vemantide?

Hey Etho! About Thaumcraft Alcemy. I just figured out something:) Try to use Alchemical furnace in pair with Alchemical construct for auto-alchemy. Use Advanced Essentia Storage as a buffer for construct, and alchemy golem to transport Essentia from Furnace to Storage, thus bypassing whole suction stuff... Downsides: Furnace output speed limiting the overall process speed. Total Essentia amount per operation can't go above 256 otherwise it'll jam. I'm using Essentia Crystallizes to get rid of leftovers in Essentia Storage. It also works with Advanced Alchemical Furnace.
Etho! You should make the "Turturdars" drop a coin, and then you can either decide to have different traders around the map, or 1 main trader you use after each round you play. These traders would give you armor, better/different weapons, and cost the coins the "Turturdars" drop.

Etho, use chicken chunks chunk loader to load the chunks. It doesn't destroy tick rate nearly as badly. And then make the endermen spawn on cursed earth, instead of whatever you've got. You get the cursed earth from that ritual you did with the division sigil, and then you have to dig it up with silk touch. Cursed earth has a number of uses. Mobs will spawn on cursed earth regardless of whether a player is nearby, and if you place it under a vanilla mob spawner, the spawner will run regardless of player proximity as well. I don't know how the endermen will function when they've been pushed off the cursed earth and into the smeltery, but if you use a chicken chunks loader and a cursed earth floor, you will 100% have endermen spawning even if you're not nearby.
Hey Etho, to make the AI even better you could have "Squad Leaders", where 1 of them picks a place to go, and the members of the squad will follow, so that the AI's are not alone, and will make it even more challenging, as they are grouped together.
You should make a couple different buttons for NPC difficulty, and the harder the NPC's get the faster they shoot, the faster they move, and they know more hiding spots, and then for easier NPC,s it's basically the opposite of that. BTW would love to see more of this series :)
Hey Etho! Finally caught up, started the series about five days ago, so I'm glad my comments will actually matter now xD. Anyway, for the arena, since you are programming all the AI, you'll kind of understand the different enemies and that might make things less interesting for you. I dunno, maybe not, I'm not a programmer. My point was, either you could get some friends to play with you, OR, I thought it might be a cool idea to ask your viewers to send in their own AI. I don't know if it's possible to transfer NPCs between worlds, or if you'd have to copy and paste programs, but I thought it was a neat idea. That way there could be some surprises, and your viewers would be helping you out, which would be fun. I don't know if that's a viable idea, but hey, throwing it out there doesn't hurt. Also, there's something I've seen Beef do that makes lamp posts look infinitely better. Put glowstone in the bottom most section of a lamp post (using carpenters blocks) and it both lights the area better and makes the lamp look like it's got the same effect street lights do, with the light halo on the ground. Speaking of lighting, in the EthoPunk area, you should use the Clouds in a Bottle on the ceiling of the city, the underside of the overhang. Then use your wand to change the blocks to light blocks, the chiseled glowstone looks particularly nice. It would be sort of like the sections of glowstone in the nether, though what I'm thinking of are cave systems with sections of glowing ceilings IRL. Those are my thoughts on the series so far!
Hey Etho! In order for endermen to spawn there has to be a player nearby. World anchors don't simulate that, if you however place cursed earth as the spawning blocks it'll work without you having to afk at the farm.
Hey Etho, for your Ender farm, even when the chunks are loaded, it still follows normal mob spawning rules (i.e. they won't spawn without a player near). BUT, cursed earth doesn't follow normal spawning rules. It spawns mobs constantly. I made my spawning platform out of that, and it works perfectly. (I use spikes to kill them though, so yours might despawn in the smeltery)
you should make some defend bomb a, some defend bomb b and one go mid (window place) and you have to complete some kind of objecive and defend the point, until the bomb explode or something, you also should make some do more damage but have 1 shot per 10 second like a awp and some shot faster like smgs
Actually, the key for Artificial Intelligence is to making decisions on it's own. Randomizing actions would be just programming, but you're right about the part of unpredictable movements.
Considering the coordinate system with CustomNPCs, I think in theory you could somewhat recreate Stardew Valley. I feel like I heard Etho mention that he really likes it in one of his vanilla episodes (Relatable), so it would be pretty cool if he did.

I'm going to set up a few variables: Damage: High = 5 Hearts Medium = 2.5 Hearts Low = 1 Heart Very Low = .5 Hearts Fire Rate: High = Once every .1 secs Medium = Once every .7 secs Low = Once every 1.2 sec Very Low = Once ever 2 sec Aggro Range High = 32 Blocks Medium = 24 Blocks Low = 18 Blocks Very Low = 12 Blocks Bullet Speed (bps = Block Per Second) High = 20 bps Medium = 15 bps Low = 12 bps Very Low = 10 bps (These may be a bit fast, I haven't tested :3) So, I'll write down a few possible "guns" you could have Turturdar and his clones wield. It will be set up like this: Name of Weapon Damage Fire Rate Aggro Range Bullet Speed Here's the list: Machine Gun Very Low High Medium Medium Rifle Medium Medium Medium Medium Sniper Rifle High Very Low High High Shotgun Low (Per Bullet, with 4-8 bullets. Ouch) Low Very Low Medium WOW that took a long time to do. The larger part of 5 minutes.. need a nap. Please use this for your comment of the day! :)

Etho, mobs normally dont spawn in minecraft without a nearby player, even if there's a chunkloader. You CAN work around this by using cursed earth as spawning ground. Cursed earth will force mobs to spawn and they'll get some special tag preventing them from despawning. So other chunkloader + cursed earth should work ;) Thanks for the great vid!

With the custom NPC's mod they can't shoot the modded guns so they end up just shooting a projectile like what they do now. Ethos can just use the gun item and the sound

A thing you could do that I see many suggesting is get Flan's Mod and have the NPC's hold the guns. While the NPC's wouldn't be able to fire the guns, you could let them fire the CustomNPC's bullets (used in the CustomNPC's guns). You could change their damage accordingly from what weapon they're using.

The npcs can't use them. They end up just shooting a projectile like they are now
The only problem with flans is it crashes a lot, and isn't very reliable in some circumstances

The problem with endermen spawning wasn't in the chunk loaders, you simply need to be in the natural spawn range. You can try to emulate a player presence somehow to make it work.
Building a dinky pve arena seems really pointless. I dont know why people always recreate other games in minecraft. Its never as good as the originals. Why not just play killing floor, or warhammer vemantide?

Which is completely pointless in minecraft, why doesnt he fiddle with custom npcs in his cities that he wanted to make feel alive. Doesnt make sense to make a survival arena in a game with a shitty combat system like minecraft.
savegalkissy Csgo doesnt even have a pve arena if im not mistaken. Its just seems really lame and pointless to build an arena survival thing in MC when the combat in MC is pretty garbage. Like i said in my other reply, why not just use the custom npcs to make is cities feel alive?
Hey Etho, I think once you've finished everything with the CS Map, you should get a couple of people on like Anderz and Genny and have a game either against bots or against each other. Would be quite interesting and amusing to watch :) Keep up the good work!
Hey Etho! About Thaumcraft Alcemy. I just figured out something:) Try to use Alchemical furnace in pair with Alchemical construct for auto-alchemy. Use Advanced Essentia Storage as a buffer for construct, and alchemy golem to transport Essentia from Furnace to Storage, thus bypassing whole suction stuff...
Downsides: Furnace output speed limiting the overall process speed. Total Essentia amount per operation can't go above 256 otherwise it'll jam.
I'm using Essentia Crystallizes to get rid of leftovers in Essentia Storage.
It also works with Advanced Alchemical Furnace.

Etho! You should make the "Turturdars" drop a coin, and then you can either decide to have different traders around the map, or 1 main trader you use after each round you play. These traders would give you armor, better/different weapons, and cost the coins the "Turturdars" drop.

A really good chunk loader, if you're interested, is chicken chunks. A great option for chunk loading.

Etho, use chicken chunks chunk loader to load the chunks. It doesn't destroy tick rate nearly as badly. And then make the endermen spawn on cursed earth, instead of whatever you've got. You get the cursed earth from that ritual you did with the division sigil, and then you have to dig it up with silk touch. Cursed earth has a number of uses. Mobs will spawn on cursed earth regardless of whether a player is nearby, and if you place it under a vanilla mob spawner, the spawner will run regardless of player proximity as well. I don't know how the endermen will function when they've been pushed off the cursed earth and into the smeltery, but if you use a chicken chunks loader and a cursed earth floor, you will 100% have endermen spawning even if you're not nearby.

Hey Etho, to make the AI even better you could have "Squad Leaders", where 1 of them picks a place to go, and the members of the squad will follow, so that the AI's are not alone, and will make it even more challenging, as they are grouped together.
You should make a couple different buttons for NPC difficulty, and the harder the NPC's get the faster they shoot, the faster they move, and they know more hiding spots, and then for easier NPC,s it's basically the opposite of that.
BTW would love to see more of this series :)

Hey Etho! Finally caught up, started the series about five days ago, so I'm glad my comments will actually matter now xD. Anyway, for the arena, since you are programming all the AI, you'll kind of understand the different enemies and that might make things less interesting for you. I dunno, maybe not, I'm not a programmer. My point was, either you could get some friends to play with you, OR, I thought it might be a cool idea to ask your viewers to send in their own AI. I don't know if it's possible to transfer NPCs between worlds, or if you'd have to copy and paste programs, but I thought it was a neat idea. That way there could be some surprises, and your viewers would be helping you out, which would be fun. I don't know if that's a viable idea, but hey, throwing it out there doesn't hurt.
Also, there's something I've seen Beef do that makes lamp posts look infinitely better. Put glowstone in the bottom most section of a lamp post (using carpenters blocks) and it both lights the area better and makes the lamp look like it's got the same effect street lights do, with the light halo on the ground. Speaking of lighting, in the EthoPunk area, you should use the Clouds in a Bottle on the ceiling of the city, the underside of the overhang. Then use your wand to change the blocks to light blocks, the chiseled glowstone looks particularly nice. It would be sort of like the sections of glowstone in the nether, though what I'm thinking of are cave systems with sections of glowing ceilings IRL. Those are my thoughts on the series so far!

Hey Etho! In order for endermen to spawn there has to be a player nearby. World anchors don't simulate that, if you however place cursed earth as the spawning blocks it'll work without you having to afk at the farm.

Hey Etho, for your Ender farm, even when the chunks are loaded, it still follows normal mob spawning rules (i.e. they won't spawn without a player near). BUT, cursed earth doesn't follow normal spawning rules. It spawns mobs constantly. I made my spawning platform out of that, and it works perfectly. (I use spikes to kill them though, so yours might despawn in the smeltery)
you should make some defend bomb a, some defend bomb b and one go mid (window place) and you have to complete some kind of objecive and defend the point, until the bomb explode or something, you also should make some do more damage but have 1 shot per 10 second like a awp and some shot faster like smgs

Actually, the key for Artificial Intelligence is to making decisions on it's own. Randomizing actions would be just programming, but you're right about the part of unpredictable movements.
Considering the coordinate system with CustomNPCs, I think in theory you could somewhat recreate Stardew Valley. I feel like I heard Etho mention that he really likes it in one of his vanilla episodes (Relatable), so it would be pretty cool if he did.
