Thanks for taking the time to make these videos!! Your channel got me excited and I ended up finding a good deal on the same boat and same year that you picked up. Your videos have been very helpful and encouraging!!
DAP acrylic caulk for through hull screws? The industry standard for sealing anything through hull is 3M 5200. Acrylic caulk is not intended for use below the water line.
Thanks for posting this video, I like the discussion about possibly cracking the gelcoat (fibreglass) if pilot holes of correct size were not made. Just a suggestion I don't like using cordless drill for installing screws into fragile materials, just plain old screwdriver is my preferred choice that way I can tell if I am cross threading or some other anomaly like wrong too small hole I am screwing into before I trash the boat. I have about a 25 year old ski boat and it uses a nut to hold the hose on the pitot. I unscrewed nut and hose is still stuck on ... before I break something just wondering if you or someone else knows if there is something holding these together or just rubber hose being brittle. My goal is to replace all the old rubber hoses but pitot pieces attached to the hull are on. Thanks again to you and your camera gal ... for video .
I bet it’s just brittle. Hopefully you have enough slack in that tube to cut of that end and insert a fresher piece onto the pitot. I couldn’t pull the end of the rubber off of the old ones either. Good tip with the drill. I’ve seen some good tips for drilling with fiberglass since and would definitely do things differently.
Skiers are super particular about accurate speeds… down to the 1/2 mph. Technically the port and stern pitots will differ when the boat is turning. I used to think that was the reason for the two. Most people will say it’s in case one fails, there’s always a backup.
You sir have created an entry point for water using a latex based caulk for a below water application, say goodbye to the transom. try using toughened epoxy next time.
Am I the only adult that still laughs at any conversation involving "caulk" ? "Did you tell me this caulk was good?" "I didnt say it was good. We will make it work though." hahaha. Not sorry.
Yes, they work perfectly. Why would someone who knows so much about ski boats need to watch a video about how to do something as simple as replacing these.
I have zero knowledge but thats for this video, now i make it on my homebuilt jetski... New sub sir

Thank you. This comment made my day!

4200 would work better in this application since it will likely need to be replaced in the future.
Right

I finally know how that works after all these years!!!
Do u have video on wiring a tach on a 1989 115 hp evinrude
I have not done that yet. Common problem though.
I just picked up a '97 SN 196. These videos are giving me a lot of confidence in my project lol
Thanks good job. Got the fever to restore mine .
Do it!
Good video! But, please tell us why there are 2 speedometers on one boat. I can't figure this out. The entire boat travels the same speed, right?

If one goes out does the air pressure still work or go out the other?
@kevinvoyson3028 they are completely separate units. The reason for the two.

Why are you so rude to the person helping you film this ?
You are damn lucky you didn't blow your speedo assembly with compressed air. I would never get away with that 😭.

He didn't want to use Marine Corp because it's $45 a tube
