    Well noted

Can you explain the final image- are the lighter/ white areas showing where the soil is not draining well?

Dark green lines indicate healthy crops. The diagonal "fish bone" lines are the main drains. The closer parrel lines are the mole plough drains.

      Thanks for clarifying that Antony.

So what happens to that vertical cut if the field is plowed?

Gary, there is always a danger that small particles from loose soil get washed down vertical cut. Same risk in ploughing and unmoved ground I guess

I want to try this but like you I'm concerned that a collapse or accumulation of sediment would clog the drain.
Would you have to do this every year ?

Good point Dave. That mole worked, we try to mole every 4 years, so they only have to stay clear for 4 years

It should work for several years in most soil. It's going like 20-30 inches deep. There are people who use these exclusively without any tile to help with their drainage issues and usually lasts 2-4 years even 5 depending on how wet your field is. Wetter is obviously going to need it more often. It's obviously going to clog eventually but this is a cheaper DIY alternative to laying tile that you can use anywhere anytime you like if you own one. Ive also seen where a guy on youtube made his own from a regular subsoiler and it worked fine for him. But he wasn't trying to drain a swamp with it.

@@EthanPDobbins Also the wet area in my field slopes the wrong way for 100 yards before the open ditch so I'm concerned about trying to run the plow at a slope or at least level , I'd basically have to eyeball it as far as depth goes.

@davetileguy if you are trying to work against the slope go for a laser level tile/land drain, worth the investment

      @@AntonysRegen I have one , how do I adjust my 3point hitch to a laser level. 🤔

mole to wide apart should be two metre apart for best results.

Every 6 feet? That is kind of expensive and time consuming. Put a plastic drain in with gravel and be done with it.

Gray, mole ploughing is needed to maintain drainage every 3+ years, even with a plastic & gravel system in the ground.
