- Reports from reputable sources CBS and Field of 68 confirm that RJ Davis will return for a fifth year at North Carolina. While it’s not enough yet to proclaim it from the mountaintops, it is enough to discuss what n RJ Davis return means and looks like for UNC. Seth Trimble is also back for UNC and the Tar Heels will have to figure out how to best deploy him. What is Trimble’s sweet spot? Davis and Trimble will form a loaded backcourt along with Elliot Cadeau and Ian Jackson. Also - Carolina has had multiple transfers who have been that intangibles guy to hold teammates accountable - Brady Manek, Harrison Ingram, and Cormac Ryan. Who will that be next season?

I think Ian will be a Carolina player next year cause he can play the 2 or 3. The only way I can see Ian leave is if Tyson comes. We still need a center like Rutgers big guy. 8:07
Drake Powell is the 3 and Ian Jackson is the 2.
It makes sense for RJ to stay. He is not on the NBA draft board because of his height and he can make more money with NIL than he can overseas.
I care about UNC Basketball not RJs pro prospects or him making NIL money. If his return means we lose Ian Jackson this is a disaster.
If Seth gets that shot going consistently you won’t be able to keep him on the bench . His minutes will soar . Simple as that .
To an extent…. Who is giving up the minutes though? EC was leading them in assists despite playing only 23 minutes per game, RJ won’t be giving up any and Ian his of a higher overall pedigree.
I can only see it in a three guard lineup…. which is possible.
I’m not knocking him-the dude is fun to watch and is a defensive beast. He’d be a real problem for the top guards at ACC blue bloods as a four year player at program like Wake or GT.

There's no bias. Not many 6 footers are impactful in the NBA. Especially when you consider RJ is not a true point guard. He is a shooting guard in a point guard's body. Which means defensive liability in the NBA.

Ian Jackson had committed well before RJ had announced for the draft. Jackson leaving is just bad thinking, after all, RJ will be gone next year. Also, Jackson has yet to prove himself at the collegiate level as an instantly great contributor.

Kudos to you for the stupidest comment of the day on here! How can getting the conference player of the year and a first team consensus all American be bad for the program. If Ian doesn’t want to competition, then let him go elsewhere. It wasn’t meant to be however, my guess is he’s a dog, and he knows RJ would definitely benefit him playing against him every day, and even if his number sacrifice a little bit, it will only help his draft status.
