Just upgraded the servo and added lights to my TRX4 Chevy Blazer, now it climbs like a mountain goat. Crawling through 3 inches of snow, sun going down, headlights blazing, all alone in an Oregon forest, doesn’t get any more Zen than that.
@@erickenz8579 don't think it would of done very well though, body is so heavy, although they could of removed roll cage, seats, dash etc to even it up a bit though, think they've gone off the gen 8 so it doesn't get much of a look in on the channel any more...shame cause the Axe is a awesome rig
I know he has the Axe edition, I don't think he ever reviewed the new v2 which is what I want to get. Seen some other reviews but until Francis says its good I will wait.
The Gen 8 AXE would have been great to see against them...not the Gen 8 V2...the V2 isn't much of an upgrade over the Gen 8 V1. Gen 8 AXE doesn't need 2 speed trans to compete. The motor technology will overcome needing a low speed crawler gear.
Ive been beating on my trx4 for 4 years now, it has plenty of upgrades, but is always the most impressive out of my fleet, I have owned everything from a redcat e10, to gmade komodo, vattera ascender, scx10ii, custom ar60 builds, still keep going with the trx4
Very nice to read this. I was gifted a trx4 and promptly went out to buy the Defender and the Mercedes-Benz g63.❤ What other platform could you recommend? Redcat gen8, Cross, Axial? I don't really know.
Would have been nice to see the Gen8 Axe edition included in this shootout, and have them all use the same tires to really reveal their powers/weaknesses. Maybe an opportunity for you to include it in another continued shootout, and end with a final 3rd shootout between the top four scale performers from the shootout.
Agree, that Cross is quite a performer but also the ugliest, they really messed up on the body proportions, Gmade shows how to do a good looking unlicensed body, don't need another trail truck but very tempted to get a Buffalo
I love these comparison videos. I like watching your videos with the amount of wisdom. But the young boys enthusiasm for tug of war was a surprising highlight of the video! Thanks for the wisdom and video and all the behind the scenes effort. 'Till the next video keep driving!
I would love to see a shoot out on some of the lower budget crawlers, $350 and less. Like the Carisma SCA-1E vs Redcat Gen 8 V2 vs TRX4 Sport vs GMADE Buffalo
Love your shootouts. Really interesting how the new rigs stack up against TRX4\10.3. The value to performance ratio is always what I look for and Cross RC seems to have hit a sweet spot. Looking forward to catching up with the rest of your footage. 👍🏽
I've taken a break from rc for a long time. Now I'm shopping for a RTR crawler because of my living condition. In recent years I've built my own. So thank you for putting this detailed vid together. I really enjoyed the comparison. Thr TRX kicks but. But the black blazer was my fav. The gladiator makes me want one in real life 😆. Thx enjoyed much👍
I appreciate your method of evaluating the crawlers. An excellent way to compare. I'm new to the hobby, but fast becoming a fan of your channel. Thanks for doing this and sharing.
I've had the buffalo military since it came out about 3 yrs. Haven't had to fix a single part. Did convert to normal driveshafts because I lost a barrel. I think it's funny you put three portal trucks up against this straight axle truck. It performs just as well. Agreed more weight is a pleasant addition. This truck has performed extremely well since release.

How could i missed that! (Gladiator SCX10.3 vs. Cross RC EMO) both trucks need a Rematch! this was so close!, But i didn't notice that the Gladiator had a burned out servo!,(Francis) you"ve probably make it happen next time, nice cool shootout, it's like the (Wild Wild West) all over again!
Nice job, Francis! Fun video and good insights. Looking forward to seeing all of these on the channel more as well as the trail running footage. Looks like everyone in the video had a good time on the outing.

This is exactly the lineup I'm trying to choose from at the minute. Still can't decide 🙈 I'd go for the Axial tomorrow if the 1st/2nd gear ratio wasn't so poor...
Curious how the red car gen 8 axe edition stacks up in this mix. No 2 speed on it right? Is the brushless and flysky enough value to justify it over one of these assuming you don't have an gt5 already?
This review is what made me decide on the SCX10iii Wrangler kit as my first crawler and RC. I mated it with the Spektrum Rugged DX5 and components. Still building! Salamat po!
You asked what I thought of the video so I decided to take this time to comment. Great video as always. Avery needs a TRX 6 so he can just drag everything around ha ha ha ha that was too funny to watch. My top three without knowing the fourth coming content would be Cross RC with portals, axial, then gmade. Sadly even though I really like this Cross RC rig, I would probably go with the Axial purely for the aftermarket support (my only rc is an Ascender K10 so I know how crappy it is with a limited aftermarket pool to purchase from). Great video as said before though, after this I'm going to watch your video for the cross rc =D Happy Crawlin!

Great review and what a surprising result! It seems that the untouchable TRX4 has found a worthy contender, at last! It was more surprising because the Cross RC never felt the strongest contender at anything, at least from where I was sitting. My money was on the Gmade, actually, which I thought would be easily ourperformed by the TRX and SCX, which didn't seem the case, especially at the beginning. I think some of the [human error] driving on the TRX4 hurt it at some key moments of the vid, but we've seem both the Traxxas and the SCX several times here perform, so I have a good idea of how capable they are. I am left wondering how well the Gmade would perform against some less extreme crawlers, such as a more comparable rival, IMO, Element's Trailrunner. They're both on smaller tires, and being both such good platforms, I think you should do a shootout of those two. I think it would be pretty close! Thanks again for the great content!
Good points. We'll dig in to this some more. We lost some key footage showing some other fun stuff we did. Value was a key part of it as well. At the end of the day, they're quite close in performance.
I need another crawler the last one I had was a trx4 bronco 2021. Some a hole went in my car and stole it. I think I’m getting another trx4 but blazer.
Have you heard any buzz about a soon coming Axe Edition V2 of the Redcat Racing Gen 8 Axe Edition? I called them yesterday and inquired about why nobody appears to have any Gen 8 Axe Edition kits. They informed me I can get one from them. When I asked if they're working on a new model of the axe edition, he expressed he can't say yes or no, but he also hinted I may want to wait a little because their might be a V2 coming soon with huge improvements. I tried really hard to get more information on it, but he was only allowed to hunt to the strong possibility of it coming very soon, leaving off by saying to me the Axe Edition is a great RC truck I'll be very happy with, but also stating I'd be very happy with either truck (either being the Axe V1 or the Axe V2). I'm dying to know more. BTW, I also asked if said vehicle was about to be released, would it be more expensive or the same price as the current Axe Edition, and the answer was "The same price".
seems like the gladiator's truck like body was an advantage and makes sense to use it instead of the Wrangler body. I'd like to see a test of the TRX4 with a Sport body against the SCX10 III Gladiator.
Great video, have you ever tried the Laegendary Grando? I've had mine for about a year now and it's been an awesome crawler. The only thing that broke after lots of abuse was the steering servo. It has a two speed transmission and winch that come with it , stock tires aren't bad but upgraded to deep woods those tires are so grippy I love them . Thanks for sharing the video 👍

In another video of the trx4 blazer he calls all others pretenders and that's all I needed to hear. I now have a text blazer to accommodate my 2 c24 wpl's
For the Gladiator, when you say you can swap the servo from the DIG, to the 2 speed if you want ... does that also mean you will only be in 2nd gear as long as you hold the 3rd channel down? Coz the 3rd channel is a momentary switch ... not switchable. Or is there a setting somewhere that allows you to press the 3rd channel once to select 2nd, and then again, to go back to 1st? I didnt think it would be swappable for the simple fact the 3rd channel is momentary, not a switch?
So I already have aTRX4 Defender with a bunch of upgrades. I have been looking to get my wife a crawler would the SCX10.3 be a good option or should I go with a TRX4 sport, because I already have experience with Traxxas.
@@themountain59 To see how good their higher gear is, and see which one breaks first. That traxxas trx4 seems like a good crawler and basher, all in one. If cross rc can do it for less, good on them.

No! That thing is crazy expensive for a Banggood product.
I hope this guy has a real rock crawler in real life. Cuz he bout it
In another video of the trx4 blazer he calls all others pretenders and that's all I needed to hear.
Bold Statements young man. Mind Blowing! :)
Gmade does it for me, the standard overdrive is great.
Yup, they've really stepped up.
So I already have aTRX4 Defender with a bunch of upgrades. I have been looking to get my wife a crawler would the SCX10.3 be a good option or should I go with a TRX4 sport, because I already have experience with Traxxas.
Love your work francis keep up the great work, gotta ask, are you filipino bro?
Opo. Marikina kid.
@@RCReviewChannel nice!. Family is from Baguio so i had to ask! Mabuhay!
Some of these where the Trx4 did not do well, I am 100% they are more than capable of handling those situations as good or better than the others.
I love the way you say actually you should make a vid on just you saying that
It’s February, what might come still. Then again you may know more than us consumers.
Great comparison. How about a bashing video of these?
Oh man, we had a bunch of action and the video didn't record. The Cross Rc dominated that, believe it or not. Heavy wheels and open diffs.
@@RCReviewChannel Huh. I wonder if the cross rc is as durable as the trx4 over the long term?
@@themountain59 To see how good their higher gear is, and see which one breaks first. That traxxas trx4 seems like a good crawler and basher, all in one. If cross rc can do it for less, good on them.
Should have included the Gen 8 V2.
What about a drag race to show off the two speed transmission in these trucks i think if u move the internals around on the gmade it would do even better
Sounds like the RTR Gladiator doesn't have the 2-speed setup, instead it's the dig feature, mainly because the Axial III 2-speed isn't that good.
Yeah i know about that but still could have done a race between the other three trucks to show what the differences are
Did you say Linda vista park in Cupertino ca?
The body on the one is shaped more like a bronco 1982 bronco That's what I figured on mine but the grill is confusing
