Hey all! Just keep in mind this video was produced in the 0.1 version and some information can be outdated. 1 ingredient dishes can still be great for personal use, but the prices have been absolutely tanked, no longer making it a valuable method to make profit.
the bug jerky gives more energy than the candied tree thing. Never thought i would find a game where i appreciate flies and trash more than anything :D

I am almost to winter in year 1. I hate how long it takes to make money to buy crops. I am probably going to have to wait until the 2nd year of play to get busy cooking. Thanks for your videos!
Have you tried putting your crops into kegs or mason jars? That usually helps up the price. Especially rice into sake, grapes into wine and barney and wheat into beer are excellent money makers. Definitely do the same for your animals! Turn your eggs into mayonaise and your milks into yogurt. Great sources of money. Bee houses are also a GREAT way to make money. All flowers you planted should go into your bee houses for sure. If you find titan arum (fall) or rafflesia (winter) around the island. Put! It! In! The! Bee! House! The base price is *3000 gold*!!! I hunted those things for sport in my first year because those are tremendous money makers. Hope this helps you through your first year!
I finally saved up enough to buy a kitchen. I ran over to the store after waiting for it to be built, and... the only thing I could buy was a seasoning set. I bought it anyways, but now I have to wait a week for it to reset and hope I can get something actually useful for cooking. I have so many hot peppers on hand!
Glad the video is helpful! ^^ haha people either seem to love my accent or absolutely hate it. no inbetween. I've long since given up on trying to understand it. :')
Wait WHAT... 😰 but- but that's how the Dutch pronounce tortilla. OK. NEW RULE: Once we occupy your country for 300 years you are allowed to bully me for my pronunciation too. 😂
@@heartforpixels My best instruction on pronouncing tortilla is tore-tea-yah. The 'll' pronunciation trips up a lot of people. In Spanish, 'll' is always pronounced as a 'y' sound. The same way, a 'j' is pronounced as an 'h' like with jalapeños. The 'ñ', I think, is best described as an 'ny' sound.

Rofl! Funny opening. However I appreciate this cooking video. I finished my first year and need to cook to increase the profit I get out of my crops. I rarely need to eat anything other than the Candied Tree Seeds I get from trash cans, and Seaweed Snacks from the Ocean, but I love the thought of having food to gift to folk in addition for profit. I love that cooking is a great way to maximize profit for low value vegetables and low value fish. I never knew that insects were so valuable in grills though... that is great for low value bugs.
I haven't played Coral Island in months, but generally having crops/ flowers and then processing them (into honey, wine, sake, whatever) is a good money maker. Also farm animals. Sadly, after the spring update, cooking isn't profitable anymore :( It's now mostly for getting through the day. I'm not sure about all recipes, but single ingredient ones aren't selling for more than the product anymore, or not worth the energy you spend on it.
Yeah, cooking got a massive money nerf, though it got more balanced in the sense that more complicated dishes now sell for more. With the energy spend on it tho - if you got the recipe unlocked (like with bug jerky!) you can now make several dishes in one go for just 10 energy. For bug jerky it has to be the same bug though for it the count as one single cooking session. But that way it doesn't feel as energy-draining and it feels profitable to cook at least for your own use for deep dives!
I have sunk so much money into cooking for this game, and I've only successfully made grilled fish, and 2/3 of those have failed because I think maybe I have to have the grill and the pots clicked at the same time. I seriously could have been buying grilled fish for $300 each at the beach. Lol Sometimes I will have only the grill clicked but the game interprets it as only the pot and it's an insta fail.
Grilling your own fish is definitely more profitable than buying it bc you can turn your 30g fish into a 180g dish. But yeah, I suggest trying to select and deselect all your untensils, exiting the menu, and try cooking again for now. I'm sure they'll fix this eventually, but it'd be great if it is implemented sooner rather than later.
There's a LOT of fish you unfortunately cannot catch yet but will be implemented into the game. I did play a bit when they launched the accidental update (now rolled back) and I already noticed fishing was so much better. I caught a better variety, it was quicker, and there was even a fourth fishing zone. For now, at what place you fish and at what time in what weather seems to REALLY matter. I always look between the community sourced google doc sheet and the Coral Island wiki to see where a fish is at.
