The duets Paul did with George Harrison on this episode are masterpieces. 2 men, 2 guitars, each with a song they'd written, Homeward Bound and Here Comes the Sun, pure magic. 2 of the best music performances ever on SNL.
I remember watching this "live" when I was a young guy. He sold it so well, I actually wondered if he was acting or not. Watching it now, I'm just laughing my ass off.
Gene Burnett I remember watching this with my mother back when it was live. I didn’t realize if he was serious or joking. I was 10 years old and didn’t understand tongue in cheek type.
I would've been 7. If I was watching, I don't remember, but I love the fact that this happened. Late night television was so wild and fun -- even into the 90s before it went sour.
I also remember this appearance. The show was absurdly funny the first five or so years. As it is directed towards college age folks, we do grow out of it. But the news segment is still a good part of the show. ...
I recall that the first couple of years of SNL they would provide an address that you could mail your request for tickets. My friends and I always talked about going to NYC to see the show, but we never did.
Because the turkey started cooling, Is being left untouched at the dinner table, And the sign said that the words of this turkey will be written on the minds of all....Tenement halls, And will echoe in the minds of the audience.
Paul Simon actually has a great sense of humor - even to this day. I was fortunate enough to see him in Tampa during his Farewell Concert - loved every minute of it.
I love these old classics mixed in .They are amazing they are all wonderful people Chevy crazy , Adam Sandler , Chris Farley, Dana Carvey , Mike Myers , ect. Tells you how old I am when I stated watching . This brought back happy memories thank you the cast ,crew , and guest appearances on SNL.
SNL was a get together & watch it show before we went out.It was attitude adjustment hour. Beers & giggle sticks. This was a memorable SNL night because seeing Paul Simon in a turkey outfit was so so jaw dropping hilarious. I'm happy to see it again so I can hear all of what he is saying. Back then we were doubled up, tears on our face, can't catch our breath laughing. Thank you SNL for the happy times.
When I first heard about this sketch, It was from an article that said “interview with Paul Simon”. In that article was a transcript of the sketch, And I’m sitting there reading “do you want to be Mr. alienation, you can be Mr. alienation but I feel this is been a total disaster…”. And I thought to myself, “Paul Simon is a jerk. He can’t take a joke!” Then I saw the actual sketching realize they were just quoting the sketch and I laughed to myself.
This was FUNNY 😂 as hell and YES Paul Simon was joking around for the audience. He and Lorne Michaels were and still are friends to this day so he understands how the concept of the show works.God bless PAUL SIMON and LORNE MICHAELS.
This was during the time, where Lorne discusses with George Harrison about his $3,000 offer to the Beatles, for a Reunion on the show, that never came to fruition. That came just before this moment.
@@claudecall Correct and Lorne also explained to him that there was an extra $250 for him, if he went on to say the traditional opening spiel for the show, as well (and he did say it).
Great bit, and wasn't this the same episode in which Dan Ackroyd first performed "Basso-Matic?" My all-time favorite bit from SN. ("Mmmm. That's great bass."" Two classics in one episode. It just doesn't get any better than that.
1:57 his arm motions when he says "loosen up a little bit"
I died

Watching again in 2024 --- truly, still funny, after all these years......... Thanks, Paul!
This clip has the best audience laughter ever.
The contrast between the turkey suit and that sweet, sweet voice… Comedy gold.
Paul played that so straight! That's what made it so funny.

I was blessed to be there that night! A great experience for a 21 year old!
Amazing!!!!❤
Wow, lucky you
I recall that the first couple of years of SNL they would provide an address that you could mail your request for tickets.
My friends and I always talked about going to NYC to see the show, but we never did.
How wonderful!
God, this man has humor! NEVER would have suspected him to participate in this, brilliant!
Over the mountain, down in the valley, lives a turkey talk-show host.
RIGHT?!!🤣
"What's the problem? Did the band come in late?"?
"No the band is fine! I was singing Still Crazy After All These Years in a turkey costume!"!
😂🤣😂🤣😂
Hello dark meat my old friend, I've come to gobble with you again...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Literally my favorite SNL moment of all time. Such a beutiful song.
This is probably one of my favorite monologues from SNL😂
I'm getting some big Charlie Brown energy off of this, and I love it
he's such an adorable turkey
Paul Simon is adorable.
Us metal snakes need to “loosen up”, Bro we’re metal. 😂
Paul Simon actually has a great sense of humor - even to this day. I was fortunate enough to see him in Tampa during his Farewell Concert - loved every minute of it.
1:02 Haha! I just love that woman in the front row who’s having a laughing fit.
What a legend. A musical icon with a sense of humor.

Paul could have had a future as a comedic actor, he was just so funny in this skit and such a good sport of having done it in the first place.
He was in Woody Allen’s “Annie Hall.” Definitely had some acting chops.
You apparently think this was staged.
@@jeffryphillipsburns DUH, of course it was.
@@drsloanski And One Trick Pony, as well.
[Goes through the door just fine] "I CAN'T FIT THROUGH THE DOOR!"
LOLLLL yes! THAT is what gets me every time, even knowing it's coming.
This Saturday Night Live sketch is still funny after all these years!
I see what'cha did there.😁 Underrated comment, Dude. Nice.
Still Crazy good, amirite?

His delivery and timing was so good!!!
I can’t fit through the door!
😅🤣😂
Damn this was hilarious! Paul Simon has great sense of humor and his delivery is spot on.
“Hey, Art? Yeah. Yeah, he did it. No worries. As long as the cheque clears. Okay buddy, you enjoy yourself.”
"Still crazy after all this years...". What a song.
Damm... SNL was fantastic and super funny 1975-80 !!
Like a bird over troubled... oh, never mind...
I saw this back in the day and it's still funny today. Love Paul Simon.
Still a hilarious monologue after all these years!
THANK YOU for the first 5 seasons on DVD box sets. Bought them when they came out . HAPPY THANKSGIVING FOLKS !!!
Paul Simon's a good actor. He could have done that instead, if he wanted to.
If you be my bodyguard, I can be your long lost...fowl.
Get it? Like a bird? Ahh...
Nice!
I can call you Birdie. Birdie, when you call me, You Can Call Me...Owl. CALL ME OWL!
@@orbison Nice. Love it.
thank you for putting this up finally. HIGH-LARIOUS
One of my favorite SNL shows with George Harrison.
Is this the one where GH was in the intro and was arguing with Lorne about the money they were able to pay him? 🙂
To this day, the undisputed best opening to a SNL show.
so you're telling me i've been alive for 17 years, and i haven't seen this video??? where have i been wasting my time?
A beautiful memory Happy Thanksgiving to everybody
Paul is the ultimate . The summit. The best all around. The funniest skit ever❤️💐Such a good sport!

"I can't fit through the DOOR!"
this is the best SNL sketch of all time, if you dont agree thats OK... its OK to be wrong
Watching in 2020. Still funny after all these years.
Hey look Paul Simon's a damn turkey
An absolute classic ! It doesn't get much better than this.
This was FUNNY 😂 as hell and YES Paul Simon was joking around for the audience. He and Lorne Michaels were and still are friends to this day so he understands how the concept of the show works.God bless PAUL SIMON and LORNE MICHAELS.
That turkey suit belongs in a museum!
At the end art garfunkel shud have come along and offered to wear the outfit if they bumped paul off the show
I remember watching this-Absolutely hysterical!
Still brings tears of laughter to my eyes! A holiday tradition for me now.
This always makes me laugh...and I love seeing Paul's brother, Eddie, in the front row laughing as he points at Paul's turkey feet!
This is some top-notch deadpan comedy
This was during the time, where Lorne discusses with George Harrison about his $3,000 offer to the Beatles, for a Reunion on the show, that never came to fruition. That came just before this moment.
"You don't even have to bring Ringo." 😂 Harsh.

Paul Simon -

2:39 "The band came in late?"

"El Turkey Pasa"

I CAN'T FIT THROUGH THE DOOR
-Paul Simon
this is it, this is the best snl clip
September 2024 and I am LOVING this 😂
I had the pleasure of meeting Paul Simon in New Orleans and sharing wearing Turkey outfits for big events. He was so humble and nice.
Such a classic bit.
Omg young Lorne!
I was so surprised he was that young, when he was talking to George Harrison just before this moment of the show.
Good looking man.
I had this show on tape for many years. A lot of funny moments that night, but THIS was hilarious
I remember watching this live.
dafttool and you're not a corpse? or are you....😇
Me too!
How old are you
Jojo Siwak he hasn't responded. I am guessing he passed on .
Yeah, I'm pretty old too, and I saw it live as well.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE.🍗🍗🍗😁
Best SNL moment ever! Still funny! Back when you could watch TV!
Such a 'great' man. He never broke character.
What a legend
He was such a good sport for doing this! Laughed my ass off back then and still laughing!
Best SNL moment!
I've loved and admired Paul Simon for years.❤
CALLING ALL JAN-MICHAEL VINCENT’S
Brien Nechvatal scrolled too far to finally see this comment!
WE NEED 4 JAN-MICHAEL VINCENT’S TO QUADRANT 30

I apologize. Got the line wrong. It's actually, "Wow! That's terrific bass!" My apologies to Lorraine Newman.
Still gravy after all these years.
Lorne was actually young once upon a time.
Just think it was a year earlier in that same Studio he sang still crazy after all these years only minus the turkey costume
Don't you just love to sing along to this Paul Simon song?!
Such great comedic timing
Jan Michael Vincent!?!?😂
I actually saw this when it first aired. Hilarious.
Still the best years
I CAN'T FIT THROUGH THE DOOOR!!
I would totally do this 😂
Hi from Turkey.. the country one :)
it probably isn't because I think she was part of the cast at this point, but that kind of looks like Gilda Radner in the front row at 1:02
My man!
One of my favorite Saturday Night Live moments!
Purer days of snl
Paul Simon is a member of SNL's exclusive club, The Five -Timer's Club, yet he has hosted only four times.
I think this was the first SNL I watched. I was 13.
One of the all time classic skits. Right up there with Shweaty Balls.
Any Paul Simon isn't even a comedian.
Wow Lorne was so handsome!
Soooooo awesome.
This seems straight out of Family Guy!
