This is a new video from a camera I tested a few years ago, the Daniu XD camera. It's the same camera but this time it has a battery. Link to the Daniu micro camera without battery : • DANIU Micro XD FullHD ...
Note: the camera can receive a micro SD card of maximum 64GB and not 32GB as shown in the video.

Excellent video my brother, you researched and tested all the features of the camera very good work.
Thanks
Excellent review! Lots of info. Thank you, Sir!
You're welcome
Thanks for this very good review that perfectly show us how the camera is really operating is all the various conditions. 💯💯👍👍
Thank you, you're welcome
For not a word spoken I would say this has been a good tutorial. And the sound tracks were perfect. . For me at least.
Thank you so much. I don't speak for two reasons. My English accent isn't very good and with the multitude of different nations watching my videos, it's easier to read the text than to understand what I'm saying.
This is a really great review. I bought 2 of these about 3 months back and forgot about them. I notice the motion detection button seems to need pressing before they start charging.
The camera will start charging as soon as it is connected to an external power source, regardless of whether a card is present or not. As soon as the camera is connected to an external power source, the blue LED lights up, which means that it is in standby mode. By long pressing the power button, the camera can be turned off, which results in faster charging.
Bought in 2019 w\o battery. Did the same motion tests😂
Simultaneously with this one bought with built in battery in the form of a dice. Functions and most probably electronics the same.
Very good and reliable platform for the price. Main problem is heating, in cases when used continuously needs extra cooling.
Sorry for english, i from Siberia
Yes, I know, all these cameras get warm, but they don't overheat. However, if you carry the camera on your body, it is a little uncomfortable.
Excellent review, thank you! 32GB File Size limitation will be enough for motion detection
Yes, as the files are not that big 32GB is more than enough
Excellent video. Have you conducted battery duration tests with motion detection? I assume that in continuous recording, the battery life shouldn't last very long. However, what happens during motion detection? Imagining that there isn't much action, and for example, someone passes in front of the camera only once per hour, will the battery last much longer? Thank you very much.
This is a really interesting question. Even if the camera is in standby mode, not recording at that moment, it is still active. It is impossible for me to do a test by simulating a movement every hour, I hope you understand. I think the best solution is to use a powerbank if you intend to use the camera for a longer period of time. For your information, I will present the XD WiFi next week.
Thank you very much for your response. Yes, I understand perfectly that conducting such a test represents a lot of work! Perhaps the simplest way to do it is to, in the first case, observe how long the battery lasts in continuous recording until it shuts down completely. Alternatively, you could check the clip in the SD memory and determine the continuous duration that way. Let's imagine it was on for 1 hour (this is hypothetical).
In a second example with motion detection, you could activate it and point it towards a location where no movement is expected, like an empty room, and leave it for a little over an hour-maybe an hour and a half or two. Then, go check it. If it's still on, we could assume that in motion detection mode, it consumes less battery. However, if it's off, the conclusion would be that the camera uses its battery regardless of whether it's recording or not. This could be useful for those who need to place the camera in a location where an external battery is not feasible and it needs to go completely unnoticed. For example, in a hotel room to see if housekeeping staff open or inspect more than they should. Perhaps the camera in motion detection mode could last around 3 or 4 hours on standby with a single recording, which would occur when the housekeeping staff come in for cleaning.
I apologize for my lengthy response; I find this topic interesting. Thank you very much for your input, and I'll be looking forward to the review of the Wi-Fi camera. Regards.@@Meisech
@@hectorg.5240 I also use this procedure to determine recording duration. The duration of continuous recording is 60 minutes. But if you don't record anything using just the motion detection feature, then you can't tell when the camera has stopped. At this time, you should observe when the LED goes out to be able to tell how long the camera has been active in motion detection mode.
Great review! What site did you purchase this camera from?

@@Meisech thank you.
@@Meisech can this one record while charging?
@@sonicredcr Of course it can. I think somewhere in the video I pointed out that an external power supply is required for longer recording times
@@Meisech some don’t. I’m a PI and looking for something cheap and semi disposable with motion detection that I put in an inconspicuous enclosure to rig up on the fly in hotel hallways. Just need to be able to monitor and document the comings and goings to a room and if it gets discovered, no big monetary loss.
I want to try to use this camera as a pinhole camera. I was thinking of building a small house for the camera/or inside the wall and place it next to my motorcycle. I don't want anyone to see the camera because I want to get there in time and catch any thieves red-handed. The police are so slow where I live (in rural Norway), so I prefer to rush home myself or possibly call a neighbor. I just wondered about one detail before I order the camera. It has night vision (IR). Where is the light sensor that activates the night vision? Since I'm going to build it into a small house, only the lens is exposed to the light. Will the night vision activate if the rest of the camera is in darkness?
And thanks for the nice review!
This is what it says in the manual : 'The intelligent IR-CUT function can automatically activate/deactivate the night vision upon the ambient environment change'. If you want to use it in normal condition I think there should already be a minimal light source, e.g. a street lamp. I made an attempt by sticking tape over both LEDs. In almost complete darkness, the camera is blind and only records a black background. The IR-CUT filter can only work if the IR LEDs are working. Also, keep in mind that an external power source is required if you want to operate the camera the whole night.
thank you for a thorough explanation video! i have one question i do hope you will get back to me.... if i just unbox it charge it and turn it on as you showed will it just record what i have i pointed at for say a period of an hour give or take? as i will just take the micro sd card out to view the recording and save it on my my laptop as i would if i were just watching it?? ive been using a 808 keychain spycam for years with good results im looking for something just as simple to use thank you hope i hear from you,
The camera with its internal battery can record sequences of 5 minutes each for approximately 45 minutes. You can then remove the SD card and view your files with, for example, VLC software.

@@sgymjada4785 Did you find one with a battery and how was it? Mine is lousy. I plug it and no lights come on. Lasted about 25 min. on battery outside.
Hi. When recording, is it only when someone’s entering the vision (motion detected)or when you push the record it will record all the time? I’m thinking on buying and put this in my room while I was away for 30-1hr. What do you think? Thanks.
Everything is explained in the video. There are 2 modes: continuous recording and recording upon detection. In best conditions, the camera records 1 hour. I still suggest connecting it to a power bank.
@@Meisech You don't have to charge this battery unless you are going to use it without a power source correct? If no charge in it and I plug it in a power source it will start recording?
@@Tom-ld9hp Do not wait too long to recharge the battery, because if it becomes deeply discharged, the battery will be dead. The camera does not start automatically when connected to a power source. You have to start it manually.
Can you decide in advance when to start the recording or do you have to start it manually?
As this camera does not have WiFi, and therefore no app, it is impossible to set a recording start time for the camera.
@@Meisech Hi sir, 2 questions. 1) Does this camera record audio? 2) Does the IR LED light up when in night vision? Or is there no light? I think this is important as it would be obvious if there is a small light in the middle of the dark. Thank you. Please help to answer these quickly as I'm in a rush to buy this.
@@Nino-cv4dw Of course this camera records sound like all these cameras. The camera is equipped with infrared LEDs which become active as soon as the ambient light is too weak. Unfortunately the LEDs don't reach far enough to be really effective. However, if an artificial light, such as a street lamp, is in the camera's field of view then night recording is quite good.
Nice review
Thanks
may I ask you something please
how many hours can the battery record
thank you in advance
Continuous recording, 1 hour. For motion detection it's hard to say, it depends how many times the camera has been triggered. Night vision also reduces recording time.
muito bem explicado. obrigado
You're welcome. I will introduce the Micro XD WiFi camera next week.

i think internal battery degrades capacity if it plug in external power for a long time.
Maybe you are right. I cannot confirm it. In any case, during a power failure you can always count on the battery to continue your recordings.
Hi, do you know the model without led on the side? Mine don't have it... so i do not know if it's on...

I bought one of these and trying to set up as a wildlife cam for my garbage cans. Problem is when I set on motion detection, it flashes the red and then will record a 2 min video if I wave my hand in front. If I wait 2-4 min after that and wave my hand again no recording happens. Seems like the camera is turning itself off after recording the first clip. Do I have to turn loop recording on for it to stay in standby and keep recording clips from motion? Needs to say in standby and record from motion for hours on end to catch the animals. Suggestions?
It will last you about 20 minutes outside without a power source. Nice size to hide but the power cord or power bank has to be hidden too. Defeats the purpose of the mini size.
@@Tom-ld9hp I'm using it for wildlife, I don't think they'll care about a power bank and cord haha. Just need to figure out why it's shutting off in standby mode while in motion detection.
@@aecsummer I found this camera to be a headache.
outdoor looks dark?when you record?
I took the exterior shots just before noon. The sky was overcast that day. The recordings are effectively a little dark, but can certainly be used. A factor that can also be responsible for this is the IR-cut filter.
do you know if the device might be charging even if the led doesn't get on? mine doesn't, i don't know if it is because it needs a specific adapter..
You can use any external 5V source to charge the battery. You can also plug the camera into a USB port. When plugging the camera into an external power source, the blue LED will first light up and stay on, then a red LED will flash until the battery is fully charged. When the camera is fully charged, the blue LED and the red LED are constantly lit.
I got a problem with that too I plug it in and it doesn't show any lights does it need a charge is it charging That's confusing
@@Tom-ld9hp A blue LED should light up. Press the power button to see if an LED lights up.
Downside doesn't last long enough without power source. You don't want to try and hide a cord or power bank. Waste of the small camera size.
Yes, that's what I regret too. The battery capacity is way too low.
Would be helpful when it is recording that the light would be on like a green light no light comes on you kind of wonder what's going on is it recording or not?
Once the recording process has started, no LED lights up anymore. This is the case with most of these cameras. This is unfortunately a regrettable situation.
Pleaaaaase tell me in whish year this camera has made ????
The Daniu Micro XD without battery was released 6 or 7 years ago. The one with battery or with Wifi came out a few years later. I don't know the exact date.
should it come with a sd card it feels like it should also im assuming the metal circle is the battery
No, none of these cameras come with an SD card. The metal plate on the bottom of the camera is used to attach it to a magnetic base.
@@Meisech oh thinks they really need to say more
When i turn mine on the blue led will turn on then it it will start flashing blue and red . Whats wrong with it. I have a brand new 32 gb sd card in it as well
Two possibilities: either the card is broken or not formatted. Must be formatted in Fat32.
I think you said it one time you drained the battery all the way down and charged it wondering how long did it take for it to charge how many hours do you think do you remember
Usually a good hour, as it's a pretty small battery.
Definitely must have something wrong with my battery issue when I plug it in like I said nothing lights up so I decided to hit the motion detection while it was plugged in and I'm getting a red and blue flashing both ways while plugged in. 12 hours later they're still flashing?@@Meisech
@@Tom-ld9hp I think your camera really has a problem. Request a replacement from your supplier as soon as possible. Try to document your problem with photos or better yet with a video and explain your problem in detail. With a little luck they will replace it.
do you know of a way to make the camera be able to record while connected to a phone
Yes, you can connect the camera to a smartphone and even record. As I only have an Android smartphone, I can only give you the solution for this OS. 1) You need to connect the camera using a USB OTG cable or OTG plug. 2) Download the 'USB camera Pro' app and install it on your smartphone. To be able to connect the camera, you must have USB rights on your smartphone. Please do a search how to unlock Developer option? FYI: the camera uses the 'General UVC' driver.

Couple questions for you when I plug mine in and I have the card in there nothing lights up for charging. Also I went on where you said for the time and date once I put that in how do I set it so it stays there I don't see a setting for that
@@Tom-ld9hp You may have a problem with your camera. Once connected to an external power source, the blue standby LED should light up. The camera can be turned off while charging by pressing the power button for 2-3 seconds. The blue LED will then go out but charging will continue. When a formatted card is inserted for the first time and the camera is turned on, a file called 'time.txt' is created which can be edited using a text editor. To do this, change the current date, time and recording parameters, save these parameters and then immediately put the card back in the camera. Turn the camera on. The data will now be transferred to the camera's internal memory.

A mí cámara no le funciona la batería nunca carga cuando lo pongo a una fuente de 5v o puertos usb pero si tiene un bateri interna porque se puede encender sin corriente pero parece que la batería esta completamente muerta
Unfortunately this happens if the camera is stored for too long at the retailer. The battery then drains so that it is no longer possible to recharge it. I have had several cameras that had this problem. Maybe try charging it for a whole day. With a little luck you can recover the camera.
Which (not expensive, less than 50 euro) motion detection camera do you recommend?
In response to your original question: I did the test again and I just noticed that the SD Card can be a maximum of 64GB. A 64GB SanDisk Extreme Pro costs around €12.
