So here is my story. I got accepted into nursing school and I was so excited. I studied so hard and I knew so much information but to my surprise I failed my first test. I made a 73. Anything below a 75 is failing . I also that it was the end of the world. My granny told me it was just the first exam you will be alright. So boom here comes the next exam “71”. Oh shit at this point I don’t know what to do. During clinicals my clinical instructor told me that I am a bright young student and I know the information but I’m having test taking problems. I was told that it would be best to withdraw from the program. I said no no I got this. Boom 💥 72 on the next test and we passed the withdrawal date and there is one test remaining and a comprehensive final worth 20% of my grade. My instructor told me I need a miracle to happen in order to pass. I need to make 95 or above on both test and based on the rate I was going that would be impossible. Well....... I scored a 97 on the next test and a 98.5 on the final ! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️! Lord I made it through. The professors were so shocked. So doing nclex style questions everyday helped me to score better on my test. No 🧢. I am in my final year of nursing and I just want to tell you guys to never give up. In the end it will all be worth it ❤️
I really needed this. I feel like where God guides, He provides. I got a 86 on first test, but was still SUPER nervous because my teacher said the first was regurgitation and from here on out the rest would be application. I took my second test and failed. Now I’m really in the dark. I didn’t want to study like crazy thinking I would do good only to bomb it. I know you said you did NCLEX questions but was there anything else you did to help retain the information?
nick West I needed to see this because I’m in the same space and this is driving me up the wall.. with no lecture, basically teaching myself.. I want to quit so bad but after reading this I will try my hardest
nakia richard hey don’t quit!!!! Keep fighting . I went from from every exam to passing . My teacher is so shocked . Keep fighting ! Keep studying and keep trying . Our teachers are horrible but i find other resources to help me such as quizlet and other text books ! Keep going ! You got this !
I failed my first nursing semester 😭😭😭due to getting a 68 on my first 2 exams cause I couldn’t balance out being a wife and mommy of toddlers 😭😭😭but Thank GOD and my support system I was able to make a strict schedule for myself I am now in my 4th semester 2 semesters away from graduating 😭😭😭
good for you. i just graduted w 2 kids too. i actually made utube videos that helped me study for ati comprehensive and nclex (on my channel). its really hard, but the greatest feeling when u finish. and i could imagine u barely sleep :)
Yass! Very motivating!! I have 2 little boys and I'm sitting here trying to figure out how the hell I'm going to be a mom go to work AND go to school lol but I'm so determined baby steps!
Wow! This is encouraging. Could you please tell me when/how you read? Do you read in the library after school, at night when the kids have slept? How do you do it? I have 3 little kids.
Ringo What I recommend for her is always always make time to study and accept the fact that her social life is going to be less vibration. Bust open notes and study in the locker room. There’s always a way to study. And when it comes to a social life there’s always Sundays, I use them for friends and family since Friday and Saturday are prime time nights for dancers. Keep encouraging her trust me it means A LOT even if she doesn’t say it.
1st Tip - Have a support system if you can. It will be difficult without having others to motivate you because there will be times when you feel like quitting. *Or be your own support system- this is also possible* 2nd Tip - Make sure you actually study. It’s going to take a lot of studying and hard work to do well. Critical thinking is mostly given. 3rd Tip - Take a lot of notes. If the teacher says something and emphasizes it and it’s not in the book write it down and review it. It will probably be on the test. 4th Tip - Highlight in Different Colors. One color for things you understand. One color for things you somewhat understand but just need to review. And one color for things you don’t understand and need to ask the professor or others about. 5th Tip - Make flashcards. You can review these flashcards at work, or before clinicals or on the way home - etc. 6th Tip - You probably won’t have the social life that you had before nursing school. A lot of time will be devoted to studying. 7th Tip- Invest in a good quality laptop. Nursing care plans will be essential for clinicals. 8th Tip - Ask questions. If you don’t understand something, ask the professor. 9th Tip - OPTIONAL; avoid study groups if all you do is talk when around others. You need to actually get some studying done. 10th Tip - DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. There is too much info to memorize in nursing school to put off until the last minute. 11th Tip - Get plenty of rest. Rest will help with effective studying and concentration during test taking.
In my last year of an ADN program, 1 course left after I finish this last week of Advanced Med Surg. Its a beast and I have spent my semester deep in my books and on my knees in prayer. Hardest thing I have ever done in my life, nothing compares. I have broken down, struggled with depression, ended my relationship, abandoned friendships just to get thru...its all worth it. Good luck guys that are going thru. I'm praying for you 🙏
I read the chapter(s) & reviwed the power points b4 the class. I'd take crazy notes in 5 hr classes! I'd review notes & again 1-2 tines the day before & of the test. The HUGE thing i did was i answered questions in the chapter even if that wasn't on syllabus b/c it helped me "get it & know it". Our instrunctors had case studies & they were great homework & they counted as a quiz score- not test. Everyone has a differe nt way. People aaked me b/c i was 46 & wondered how i made 4.0. I told them WHAT i did. They said, "gosh that's too much!" The teachers already gave us a ton of work but I did extra just to make sure that I knew it very very well. I had a BS in paralegal- legal studies from 1999 & i used the same study tactics.
I just enrolled in school for my ADN I tried lpn when I was 18 and flunked out I’m older now and more mature anyways thanks for the videos you’re vids are part of my support system ✊🏾
Got dismissed from my first nursing program... Then was 5 months away from graduating my 2nd program when my job didn't want to work with my school schedule... couldn't afford to quit my job and still pay for school. Here I am 3rd nursing program.... lmao.. Stripper is sounding real good right now...
I'm 52 now and I don't even know whether I should try again or not and the reason that I've had to put it off is because when I was supposed to go back in January of 2018 I got horribly sick because my PCP let me get someone Enoch and I ended up coming down with sepsis and Total Renal failure and as I was in the ER my heart and my lungs are starting to go, too. It took a year to a year and a half to recover and even to this day I'm still bummed about it.
I’m 18 in community college studying to become a RN neonatal nurse to be exact and you are seriously giving me so much encouragement because at times i really don’t think i can do it or feel like i can 😩 I’m just so ready to get this over with
Honey if i went back at 30+ just for my lvn and now at almost 40 for my Rn then u got this. Take all things one day at a time and just know you are on the road to sucess!
Lovely T. Yep and it was super hard for me to train my brain to think that way. I passed all my classes with a&b’s! Made the deans list EVERY YR IN NURSING SCHOOL but it took a lot of talking with my teachers and classmates for me to wrap my mind around the critical thinking part.
This was so helpful, as of right now I'm starting college to get my associates degree in registered nursing, I'm ambitious and ready to make a positive impact on people lives.😇😇😇 Thanks for this video!
This is all so true! Critical thinking is how it goes! 👏 I flunked out the whole program and now I am back at it again. Patient teaching and student teaching!
Youngest granddaughter, as of today Nov 17, 2020 has one month left in a. one year ABSN. Dec 18 2020, she graduates and is already accepted as in a mother baby residency. She has a 3.9 GPA! You took responsibility for your actions. Bravo! I want you to be my nurse. Due to COVID, practically all instruction was on line. That made learning that more difficult!
I'm not even in the program yet. I'm going to prepare in advance. I have this NRSNG.com site I'm going to watch videos about different nursing topics and hopefully I will be prepared.
I just subscribed to that site. I am in my final year of nursing school after failing a semester last year. I feel very unprepared for final practicum given the situation we are dealing with right now.
I have the same issue, I Never learn to critically think. I actually use to skip those questions when given for homework when I was in high school. Didn't think or know it would affect me in college.
Wow, this definitely resonates with me. I started taking prerequisites for an accelerated second degree in nursing program last summer. I found out a few weeks ago that I've been accepted to my top choice school, and will be starting in January. I'm also living with my mom at the moment, and she has really been of great help. I've paid out of pocket for all my prereqs which I couldn't have done if I had rent to pay, plus caring from my kids. Didn't want that extra student loans since I'll have to take one out for my actual nursing program. Idk how I would do it without her, because next year I won't even be able to work due to the program being so rigorous. There really is nothing or nobody like a mother!
Girl you are so right! My mom has been my right hand through everything even during the prereqs. She helps me review before an exam, lets me vent about people, gives the best advice and so much more! I'm two quarters from graduating. I'm happy I found your channel, very relatable!
Just started nursing school, first semester, first month and midterms and quizzes are starting and I’m not passing any of them 😭 I’m struggling so much! Everything is online and I have no classes, all books. Read the book and study the book kinda thing. I’m really struggling and I have no one to help me either since I’m the first person in my family to graduate high school and now I’m in university and struggling all alone 😭 your tips helped me a lot ! I’ll keep them all in consideration
Oh girl my first nursing exam at a university on my BSN, my tablet kept crashing. I got a 59!! It was 40% of my grade and I only had one more exam in an accelerated program. thankfully, we were required to get an 80% or more and my grades prior were good so I was at a 78% after that exam. Lol I got put into mandatory tutoring with many others who did just as bad. That’s the thing about nursing school is that if you’re having problems or you just want to go sit in on a tutoring class, it’s always available. Thankfully it was just a one time event because I had a computer problem, but The best thing about those critical thinking and exams that you’re pushing the point on is that people have to know the material very very very well.
I’ve been panicking because I start the rn program in January and I’m so riddled with anxiety I can’t even really feel that excitement for it. Thank you for this video, it genuinely calmed me down a bit. ❤️
Question? After all the studying all the test all the exams, once you are working in the field or get your degree does any of it apply on the job besides the Critical thinking part?
Textbook nursing and real world nurse are two different ball games lol. I hate to say it. Textbook is “perfect world nursing” but in the real world SHIT IS NEVER PERFECT. But the knowledge is gained from school and it helps some but it’s mostly experience that will teach you
@@CarleRae I'm like very spiritual since I got saved but now that I have matured in my spiritual walk, I'm trying to find something fulfilling. That I will enjoy
First of all, you are so funny! lol video is definitely relatable. I’m going into my 2nd semester and I’m looking for anything to make me more successful than the 1st! As a successful 1st semester student I’m going to speaking at a new student orientation on how to be successful in semester 1 and I will definitely be sharing some of what you have said 👌🏾
Thank you for this inspiration video sis I’m currently in my first year in nursing school and yes all the test questions are very much so critical thinking
Alexis Walker sis your support system can be just you! Lol it doesn’t have to be other people! Just FYI! But I strongly believe in having a support system...even if it’s just someone to vent to or lean on when you’re down.
Hey! I wanted to know do they give you a hard time about your tattoos? I have a half sleeve and am worried about being rejected due to it. While I already heard you can just cover with a long sleeve.
#2 literally were the words tht cane out to my mouth after my first semester of nursing school. I wasn’t prepared for that style of testing but thank Hod I’ve been doing good so far. I still struggle with the critical thinking aspect but I’ve improved.
I start in August and I am so nervous since we have our first exam the second week. I am horrible at critical thinking questions. Lord please be with me!
I felt everything you just said I failed my 3rd semester of nursing school I start back in the fall! I’ll have two semesters left after I retake medsurg 2. I was so devastated and started to question myself. I also have trouble with critical thinking but your video has inspired me to keep pushing
Awwwww thank you booo I’m sooo happy I could put out content that makes you happy!!!!! And I’m so glad it’s content that you could relate too and apply the things I talk about into your everyday life
My fav RN 😉💉💊 📚 Omg 🙏Thanks for the information you are a blessing for me right now going into the Program📚 all of your Tips are so helpful. I’m so happy I found your page!!! Blessing to you and I look forward to move videos to come I’ve shared your 📲Videos with my friends that are going into the Program as well 🥰
I know I am so late but this video was awesome. I am in my third semester of the RN-BSN program and am just now getting my critical thinking skills down 😂 What I liked most about your video was the fact that you was completely honest 💕
I didn’t become a CNA bc they didn’t require it and bc they didn’t make that much. They only made $7 and change at the time and I was working at a grocery store making $8.50 so I refused to do it. Just make sure the nursing program you sign up for doesn’t require you to be a CNA and you’re good!
Maybe get your CNA, get hired somewhere the employer will give you tuition reimbursement to cover your LPN or ADN classes. After your first year of RN clinicals, you can apply to be a "nurse technician" which might pay a $1 per hour more than CNA...same job duties but you'll notice you'll be treated differently as an RN student tech vs a CNA. Not cool but its the hospital heirarchy. Good luck! 👍
Up date I started nursing school September 2020 I finished the first term . Now its killing me in my second term I can't pass my quiz or exam. Ugh . This covid is really messing us up. I dont like this online learning.
Omg I am the butterfly too I go once I've studied myself first and hitting my own key points!!! Girl everybody want to know about my keto eating and how I'm staying on while in school!!
😩🙌🏽 first semester here nursing school And it is no joke ... I’m trying to remain confident but nursing fundamentals is the real deal with them critical thinking questions 😳 thanks for sharing sis
I really want to go Chamberlain for nursing because I really cant go any where else because I Owe Mobap Uni. But I also need to work so I can pay my bills I don't really have that support from family but I'm praying about it seriously.
😇Happy New Years!!!...🙌 I just stumbled over your video and I now am I new subscriber I find your tips very amazing🙏 and I'm also an RN student to thank you so much and God bless you and your family😘🤗💚👑🎓
I known being a nursing student is not easy at all especially when you're nursing student and a mom, there is more you have to do in the day. Then you have to study for exams but you got to be strong. And continue putting one foot in from the next. And think about it ending Gold.
I recently just started looking into nursing school. Not sure which nursing route to take. Thinking about RN... can you'd do a video explaining the different types of nurses? I would really appreciate it!!
Thank you for this video. I just got accepted into a ADN program in my area. I am soo nervous and excited 😬😬😬. I have been watching your videos when I can some more than once. So inspiring and full of good info. Keep the info coming😃😃😃 You are a whole vibe 😍
I'm a young mother about to be a single mom of 4 kids 6 and under. I will be living on my own and don't expect a lot of help from my kids father. But I yern to be a nurse that is my biggest goal in life. My ex husband would not let me go back to school but now it's my time to shine. Thank you for this.
Keep pushing forward! Take 1 or 2 classes at a time. Look at local vocational schools and community colleges! And because I'm 41 and a mother to a 22-year old daughter, I say this with LOVE.... Stop having babies right now 😉
Thank you for sharing, I’m still in the process of applying for nursing school but you still helped me so much ❤️ I wish the best for you in your career 😋
Carla girlll I love your channel. You give me life. Oh btw your hair is da shit! Love it. I’m natural and this would be a great protective style for sure. Nursing is my passion, my heart, my life! I’m a CMA and have been for 6 years. I will take the Kaplan in February and I’m ready for this journey honey! Thx for the video and you have a new subbie!
I found this really helpful I was a nursing student when I first started college but I don’t think i wanted it enough and didn’t take it as serious as I should and I truly regret it but i aloud them to convince me to change my major and I truly hate it but lately I’ve been thinking about trying again to join to nursing program but watching your videos make me even more eager to try again with everything i have
Do you have and bsn or Associate? I planned to start in 2019 but I'm really scared because I have 3 children and a married so I don't know I'm gonna balance everything?

Idk how I would do it without her, because next year I won't even be able to work due to the program being so rigorous. There really is nothing or nobody like a mother!
I wasn't at all prepared for nursing school. I just finished my first semester and barely passed my classes! These tips are definitely helpful!!
Thank you babyyyy 😘😘😘😘
I started my second semester today . Pharmacology and Med Surg. Whew😩Needed some extra motivation. Thank you ☺️
Applying for the nursing program this fall I'm so nervous ☺️
Don’t be nervous boo!!!! You got this!!!!!
@@CarleRae Thank you 🤞
Girl you are so right!
Yesss girl after I flunked my first exam I bout dang near died!!!! Girl I was sooo shook with fear bc I knew I only had one more time to mess up!
I’ve been panicking because I start the rn program in January and I’m so riddled with anxiety I can’t even really feel that excitement for it. Thank you for this video, it genuinely calmed me down a bit. ❤️
You’re welcome babe!!!! Glad I could help you girl ❤️
Hey I start nursing school in January also. Maybe we should keep in touch..
I just want to say thank you because I'm starting school in may and I'm getting prepared now and you gave some real good advice.
I do not do study groups either my ADD gets the worst out me lol. great video thank you
I am starting but for the winter semester I am kinda nervous but more excited than anything
My mom is my support system but she not paying my car payment and plus I have two kids but I will be tending this year..
First of all, you are so funny! lol video is definitely relatable. I’m going into my 2nd semester and I’m looking for anything to make me more successful than the 1st! As a successful 1st semester student I’m going to speaking at a new student orientation on how to be successful in semester 1 and I will definitely be sharing some of what you have said 👌🏾
Thanks for the nursing school tips Carle - the video rock
Thank you for this inspiration video sis I’m currently in my first year in nursing school and yes all the test questions are very much so critical thinking
Well everyone doesn’t have a support system that’s not key to passing the key is determination and consistency
Alexis Walker sis your support system can be just you! Lol it doesn’t have to be other people! Just FYI! But I strongly believe in having a support system...even if it’s just someone to vent to or lean on when you’re down.
Great tips. Mom of 3 here starting my RN program in Jan 2021 🖤
Amanda-Kaye Ranglin girllllll yessss that was a biggie for me! But I got it though
I’m struggling hard in pharmacology. Failed 2 exams out of 5 for the semester, I’m worried about failing the course, any tips? Help! :(
I start in August and I am so nervous since we have our first exam the second week.
And I’m so glad it’s content that you could relate too and apply the things I talk about into your everyday life
My fav RN 😉💉💊 📚
Omg 🙏Thanks for the information you are a blessing for me right now going into the Program📚 all of your Tips are so helpful.
Vibin Wit Da Toneys I most def try to be honest and give y’all the real!!!!
Damn I want to be a nurse so bad . I don't want to go to school for a CNA I want to start off as LPN. What's the best routine to take?
I didn’t become a CNA bc they didn’t require it and bc they didn’t make that much. They only made $7 and change at the time and I was working at a grocery store making $8.50 so I refused to do it. Just make sure the nursing program you sign up for doesn’t require you to be a CNA and you’re good!
@@CarleRae okay thank you.
😩🙌🏽 first semester here nursing school
And it is no joke ... I’m trying to remain confident but nursing fundamentals is the real deal with them critical thinking questions 😳 thanks for sharing sis
Yesssss girllllll I almost didn’t pass that semester bc I flunked that first nursing fundamentals exam!!!! 😩😩😩 but keep pushing boo
Thanks
You're so real & I love it😍😍😍😍
Charlie's 2nd Angel thanks hun!!!! 😘😘😘 I really try to be real and just down to earth
I really want to go Chamberlain for nursing because I really cant go any where else because I Owe Mobap Uni. But I also need to work so I can pay my bills I don't really have that support from family but I'm praying about it seriously.

Thank you for sharing 👍 l bet you’re a great nurse 👩⚕️
“If I wasn’t a nurse I would probably be a stripper” HAHAHAHHA THATS MEEEEE GIRLLL
Luana Rodrigues sis. I felt this.
my first exam is Monday and I’m soo scared. Ive been studying for 2 weeks already but I don’t want to miss anything. I have the worst test anxiety ):
I known being a nursing student is not easy at all especially when you're nursing student and a mom, there is more you have to do in the day. Then you have to study for exams but you got to be strong. And continue putting one foot in from the next. And think about it ending Gold.
Soooo.....i start in the fall....you still got them flash cards?! Lol would definitely love them.
What brand of scrubs are you wearing?!?...I love the top!!!
I recently just started looking into nursing school. Not sure which nursing route to take. Thinking about RN... can you'd do a video explaining the different types of nurses? I would really appreciate it!!
This is good advice for any field. Great video
Thank you for this video. I just got accepted into a ADN program in my area. I am soo nervous and excited 😬😬😬. I have been watching your videos when I can some more than once. So inspiring and full of good info. Keep the info coming😃😃😃 You are a whole vibe 😍

Also thanks for the video! & Keep doing your thing girl 👍🏽😌
Thank you loveeeee ❤️❤️❤️
I am so happy and proud of you Carle.
I'm a young mother about to be a single mom of 4 kids 6 and under. I will be living on my own and don't expect a lot of help from my kids father. But I yern to be a nurse that
is my biggest goal in life.
Stop having babies right now 😉
I love your videos I'm so glad I found your channel..❤

I’m a CMA and have been for 6 years. I will take the Kaplan in February and I’m ready for this journey honey! Thx for the video and you have a new subbie!
I got to term 2 and didn’t pass, I had to get a 78% to pass and I got a 76% and I was devastated. I’m nervous to go back

Oh god I’m terrified I won’t get into nursing school it’s so competitive in Cali :(
I love you!!! Great video!! One of my favs! I thought the same thing about nursing... If I wasn't a nurse what would I be doing?🤔
I found this really helpful I was a nursing student when I first started college but I don’t think i wanted it enough and didn’t take it as serious as I should and I truly regret it but i aloud them to convince me to change my major and I truly hate it but lately I’ve been thinking about trying again to join to nursing program but watching your videos make me even more eager to try again with everything i have
Girllll if it’s on your heart to do then go for it!!!! Don’t let nothing stop you or distract you!!!! GO FOR IT SIS
Your amazing!!! 😘😘 thanks for all the info you provide
Christina Cato welcome babe
Was driving an hour back and forth hard? I’m planning on doing a similar route but idk if I should?
Great tips.. much needed since I’ll be starting nursing school in January! ❤️❤️❤️
How long did it take for you to complete your prerequisites? 😁
Ebony Bailey if your going for your bsn it takes two years to do prerequisites
Really depends on how many classes you take each semester, if you want to be full time or part time & if you work
Carle Rae you are my support..being a mom of 3 with a newborn its rough. But I'll kp pushing
Any online apps or sites that help you through nursing
Nah, but I needed this. This literally answered all my questions. you my sis fr ❤️. Make more videos please
Love your videos!! How did you study for Pharmacology??
mostly memorizing and making drug cards helped me... but I'm in the RRT program
Do you have and bsn or Associate? I planned to start in 2019 but I'm really scared because I have 3 children and a married so I don't know I'm gonna balance everything?
I'm starting in January 2019, I'm excited but a little anxious.. thnx for sharing
You’re welcome boo and remember stay focused!
How do you study for 3 exams at a time tho?
