This is super helpful. Now this is getting really specific but could you do (or have you already done) a comparison between the cleancut and the hyper vintage with coil splitting?
Do you think the Alnico Grande could work for Drop C metal and post-hardcore? I'm looking to buy a Double Agent OG from Reverend but I'm wondering if I should outright plan on replacing the humbucker. It seems like the Chisel is generally recommended for those playing tones but I'm not sure if the Alnico Grande could handle it well.
Of course!! The top row ones are really nice for that purpose. All of them. The Alnico Grande and the Hyper Vintage are probably the most organic, natural and versatile of the four. Chisel and Anvil have a more compressed feel which is typically aimed to be used in metal with low tunings, but will depend on what you need and like. IMO, for low tuned metal (or metal of any kind) I prefer versatile pickups than specific ones. I get better results for the kind of metal I'm looking for.
IT sounds to me like the Alnico Grande Humbucker in the bridge, would be perfecty complimented by the Neuvo 90 as a singin, matching the output without that boomy over-bassing when playing on a high gain setting and wanting to use the neck for rhythm stiff sometimes as wells as a more singing/cutting and with more cut and single-note definition and clarity pickup that has a output to where the neck doesnt suddenly make your heavy soudiing bridge pickup metal riff sound thin and to tinny and trebly when you switch tot he neck for some chords and single note or octaves and soloes and stuff... can anyone tell me if a Alnico Grande Bridge PU in my 1979 Ibanez ST-50, matced with a Neuvo-90 in the Neck position ( i guess the Neck Neuvo 90? I dunknow.. i currently have the original SUer hot Ibanez V-2 Bridge with the only thing left of my burned up beloved Guild POlara.... the Bridge HB-1 pickup wich only has atm after a house fire... 8.4kh output and just the right amount of cutt compaired to the super hot bridge V02 ibanez hubucker which is 15.78kh ! But i LOVE rialhammers and truly want to one day maybe endorse them! i have been contemplaying this specific change up on my beloved 79 Ibanez 24 fret 25" scale length ST50.. ( fantastic guitars btw if you ever get a chance to play a vintage Ibanesz ST-50 or 300 or whaever... PLAY IT!) anyways.. I finanly got to hear and try out my first Revernd, it was the sold body set kneck guitar... i forget the model.. i LOVED IT AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE RAILHAMMERS! OMFG!!! that guitar was amazing and the pickups amazinf! It felt very confortable after 25 years or more on my 25" scale legnth beautifully sculpted shallow C prfile vintage 24 fret ibanez ... bravo!
They don't really, any more than any other brand or type of pickups. The initial clean example does the best job showing the critical output and eq differences.
@@MyersJMark The Chisel has the mid push, while the Anvil are more even to actually scooped.I've been using the Cleancuts, the N&H 90's, and the vintage for years, and I think they work particularly well in bolt on's.I like how they are similar to a Tele neck, or Jazzmaster, but hum cancelling. The vintage HB 's are more transparent than most similar vintage HB's.
Hi Mike great video as usual. The Hyper Vintage seems to have a lot more volume than the other Hb pup on the video. Is it really louder or it's a matter volume during recording? Thank you 👍
I've been watching your demos for years and years. Your format is by far the best 👌
I wish more pickup companies would do comparisons like this!
Really like the Nuevo 90
I installed the anvil on few guitars.. they’re astonishing and really underrated.
Tnx ❤
Chisel sounds the best to me in both clean and distorted. The 90s sound super punchy with the distortion, amazing 🎉
love this format, and way better than demos on railhammer's channel. subbed.
thoughts on the reeves gabrels?
The alnico grande sounds massive! They all sound great but either that, the Heavy 90, or the Hyper Vintage are my top picks!

The cleancut is a humcutter and not a humbucker. It you split it, it will only sense 3 strings
@@wmcmps think he means comparing the split sound of the hyper vintage to the full-on cleancut
For my ears the cleancut sounds best on acoustic passages and I have give a slight edge to the alnico grande over the hyper vintage for dirty tones.

They sound virtually identical to each other

@@markferguson3745if anything, the alnico and chisel sound closest, with still subtle differences. Everything else is wildly different in EQ

Hi! It's just a volume mismatch. Not related with output at all.
@@mikestamper Ahhh ok!!! Thank you!!!! 😊
