@heavymetalphilosophy They were pretty rad. I believe I've commented about them before, but ill say it again. Tribulation kicks ass!! Great vibes from the whole band live. Especially there curly headed guitar player, he was into that shit for real! Just such a cool blend of styles, and they actually pull it off well. Can't wait til they make a return to the states. Or at least somewhat close to kentucky again. Had to go to cleaveland. And I'd do it again. Sorry long comment.
Very nice with a shoutout to Tribulation, their discography is really nice! Qaalm is sounding very interesting, will surely check them out! Defeated Sanity is just so brutal, not my taste but I certainly understand why people love this. :D
Jon, I would love to watch an interview with the guys from Múr. As you said it, a debut this good demands some backstory from the band. Anyway! Amazing stuff as always, November was bonkers! Keep it up!
defeated sanity are fantastic! absolutely agree with what you said, they aren’t like the typical tech death with severe overproduction blast blast blast every second. they leave space for groove and aura.
Disparaged is fucking phenomenal. Usually I despise melody in my death metalz, but this record slapped me silly. This month, however, belongs to Defeated Sanity, as we all knew it would.
I really found your interview with the Defeated Sanity boys interesting, Jon. 👍 And 'Chronicles of Lunacy' is definitely my favorite album of November; hell, it's actually one of the best releases of the entire year, as far as I'm concerned! 🤘😎
The Browning was weird but interesting. Reminded me a little of older Born of Osiris or Veil of Maya but heavier. Not my thing but definitely something different.
Seven of these albums could be on my top 10 or 15 from November. Your top 4 could easily be my top 4, although in a different order. The Browning, Disparaged and Defeated Sanity would not be on my list simply because I haven't heard them yet. Some other bands that could make my list are Nachtmystium, Neon Nightmare, Vessel, VOLA, Ethereal, Klone, Make Them Suffer, Paysage d’Hiver, Solstafir, Stranger Vision, Valontuoja, Witchpit, Witnesses, The Foreshadowing, Lying Figures, Monolithe, Opus Irae, KingCrown, and The Gates of Slumber.
Opeths Album is something special, i dont know how you kept in control of your initial reaction, with out giving shit away??? Somehow you kept the elation so close, and i dont know how, 😂 S3,4,5,6,7 are monster tracks, especially S4, that song did something... Look forward to your recap!!!! Dont forget Charcoal Grace by Caligulas, my countrymen 🤘😀🤘
@Hellacoptersfan it's so good 👍 close to AOTY infact, what's cringe? I want to know... put it down here as next thread, I'm interested in the cringe factor??
Múr is much more exciting than Opeth IMO. Opeth is a good record, by all means, but for Opeth it's about average :> I haven't been able to get into Bedsore yet, but I'm going to give it a few more listens!
How could you not mention the mighty ~Djevel ~Nat til Ende??" To me it might be the album of the year... f you love classic Emperor and Dimmu Borgir, the production is just on another level ~ everyone is sleeping on it :/ Repeated listenings reward you with deep composition, insane tempo changes and vocals that are in such pain ...
I hear “melodic” in front of a genre and immediately know it isn’t for me lol. That opeth record is really good though. One of the best records of the year.
@@heavymetalphilosophy Faded Dream by Neon Nightmare would also be on my list and it is as much a doom metal album as it is goth (the guy is a big Black Sabbath fan). A great album.
Very embarrassing. I did know, I just fucked up and then didn't catch it in the edit. Which is even more embarrassing. I've been dealing with Romania a lot for my day job and it's been on my mind. Still that's not a good excuse and I can and will do better.
That would be a fun but challenging project. There's a lot of great bands but sometimes it's hard to distinguish between who is a Christian band and who is a band who happen to be Christians. Thanks for the suggestion. Perhaps I need to think on this one more.
Hey mate, Thy Catafalque is not romanian, it's hungarian.
Tamas even mentions "Hungarian" in the clip :>
Gah!!! 😩😩 How embarrassing. I knew that. Complete Botch on my part 😩😩
I love Botch!
I've been really digging tribulation more and more. Glad more folks be payin attention. They are great live as well.
Saw them open for Opeth and I was like 🤯

Discovered Bedsore yesterday... It absolutely blew me away!
Me too! 🤘🤘
Nice to see you back! Yeah, man, that QAALM is so damn good. You mentioned the guitar work, let's talk about the drums!
Yea man! Sorry I have guitar player syndrome sometimes 😆
So excited for Múr. That debut is incredible
Yes!! 🤘🤘
Good to have you back Jon, we've missed you! :) Great content as always! Greetings from Athens🤘
Thanks! 🤘🤘 Athens Georgia or Athens Greece?
@@heavymetalphilosophy Athens, capital of Greece, been a subscriber since summer 2023, keep up the good work Jon! :)
Thank you! 🤘🇬🇷
Great to have you back giving great recommendations on new music!
Thank you! 🙏🤘
Very nice with a shoutout to Tribulation, their discography is really nice!
Qaalm is sounding very interesting, will surely check them out!

For sure check out Qaalm. 🤘🤘

I love the Yoth Iria, Tribulation and Thy Catafalque albums, and Opeth is more than likely gonna be my AOTY, truly a stunning piece of art!🤘🤘
You clearly have excellent taste. 🤘🤘
Another great post, Jon. 💯 ❤
Got just south of three hundred 💸 in my Bandcamp cart w/o adding any of these. Yet. Lol. Thanks brother.
You'll be rich with music!! 😆💵
Philosophy, metal, and love. I think that just about covers it, hells yea brother!
🤜🤛😁
20 buck spin is putting out some great bands. Discovered Worm death doom band out of Florida on the label . Great band has a splash of typo to it🤘
Indeed. That label doesn't miss. I photo'd the Decibel Tour where Worm opened for Hulder and I was 🤯
DISPARAGED will be the album of the year. 🤘🏼
🤘🤘
defeated sanity are fantastic! absolutely agree with what you said, they aren’t like the typical tech death with severe overproduction blast blast blast every second. they leave space for groove and aura.
Yes!!🤘🤘
So psyched for Bedsore and Mur. And Opeth of course, goes without saying.
Yes!! 🤘🤘
Yoth iria and tribulation records without a doubt two of my favorites this year.
Yes!! 🤘🤘
Disparaged is fucking phenomenal.
Usually I despise melody in my death metalz, but this record slapped me silly. This month, however, belongs to Defeated Sanity, as we all knew it would.
I love melody as long as it doesn't come at the cost of heaviness 😁🤘🤘
I really found your interview with the Defeated Sanity boys interesting, Jon. 👍 And 'Chronicles of Lunacy' is definitely my favorite album of November; hell, it's actually one of the best releases of the entire year, as far as I'm concerned! 🤘😎

"...it's Opeth, of course it's #1" 😂🤘
Right!? 😆🤘🤘
Awful album, apart from S5 and A Story Never Told
So glad to see you back! Can’t wait to meet you personally when we cross paths in Atl🤘🏻
I'm sure we will. 🤘🤘
Thank f*** you're back
Thank you! 😁🙏🤘
Yoth Iria is amazing
Yes!! 🤘🤘
Yea buddy, rock on.
🤘🤘
I think that was a very good review, thanx, I'll first check out the A list jaja and that Defeated Sanity looks very good to me, I'll see it, thanx
That's what I like to hear. Thank you. 🙏🤘
Love the Hath shirt!!!!
Hath rules!!! 🤘🤘
Nice cast man, cheers!
Thank you! 🙏🤘
Yoth iria my favorite album of the month
😁🤘🤘
Anarchÿ - Xenötech and the Cosmic Anarchÿ. Killer Progressive Thrash.🤘🏻
Best month of the year for me. Distant, lifesick, saltwound, opeth to name a few dope albums 🤘😁
I liked how Distant went back to their old sound. Now I kinda hope they do experimental again. Just keep switching it up 🤘🤘
LIFESICK heck yeah!
Great list man. But in my opinion you should have Retributions Tales of Torment up there. Young Swedish band but a with a rock solid album.
Thank you! 🙏🤘
Will checkout Mur and Bedsore
Hope you dig it. Especially Múr.
Great list!!! I have at least 5 of those albums already on My Spotify.
You clearly have great taste. 😁💪🤘🤘
Regarding Opeth-I think it’s about the 2:29 mark on track (paragraph) 6 that really 🤘🫠🤘
TLWAT has several of those moments for me 😁🤘🤘
Cheers! Thanks for the kind words.
Great record y'all. 🤘🤘
I think easily the best month of the year - Tribulation, Djevel, Neon Nightmare, Opeth, Defeated Sanity will be mostly Top 10 of the year for me
Right?! A lot of AOTY material in one month!
How about BLIGHTED EYE, EXUVIAL and IOTUNN?
If you dont know of Necropanther, you should check them out, and White Ward. Also, the Big Jazz Duo
Yes!! I especially dug the last White Ward album. 🤘🤘
The Browning was weird but interesting. Reminded me a little of older Born of Osiris or Veil of Maya but heavier. Not my thing but definitely something different.
Those are good comparisons 🤘
Opeth ❤
**nods** Opeth 🤘🤘
Opeth was amazing it ended on my top 3 albums of 2024 at 3 2 was Judas Priest and 1 was my album of the year Absolute Elsewhere by Blood Incantation 😊
You clearly have excellent taste. 🤘🤘

Something special? Are you seriously impressed with this cringe worthy album???
@Hellacoptersfan it's so good 👍 close to AOTY infact, what's cringe? I want to know... put it down here as next thread, I'm interested in the cringe factor??
Thy Catafalque, XII A gyönyörū álmok ezután jönnek. Top 3 contender for my personal album of the year. An amazing HUNGARIAN creation! 🤭🇭🇺💪🏼
Excellence from Thy Catafalque, idiocy from me. 😩😆
@@heavymetalphilosophy I forgive you, the Hungarians, much more difficult.
Its been an awesome year great philosopher in the house aarrrruuuggghhhh award for john!! now!! ala Calm down AAarrruugghhh!!
😆😆🤘🤘
@heavymetalphilosophy I'm sure want to buy the jacket be awesome need one
Múr is much more exciting than Opeth IMO. Opeth is a good record, by all means, but for Opeth it's about average :> I haven't been able to get into Bedsore yet, but I'm going to give it a few more listens!
I can see that logic. You might even put Bedsore ahead after you listen. 🤘🤘
How could you not mention the mighty ~Djevel ~Nat til Ende??"

That distinction makes sense. 🤘
GOATPETH! GOATPETH! GOATPETH!
Indeed!! 🤘🤘
Dude, no Faded Dream by Neon Nightmare? That album is even better that new Tribulation especially of you like Type O Negative and then some!
I'll have to check that out. Do they put some metal in it or is it pure Goth?
@@heavymetalphilosophy Faded Dream by Neon Nightmare would also be on my list and it is as much a doom metal album as it is goth (the guy is a big Black Sabbath fan). A great album.
@heavymetalphilosophy more the former than the later especially since it's Nate Garrett from Spirit Adrift!
Opeth being the best of November?
Nah, it is the best of this year!
For sure it's gonna top a lot of people's lists. 🤘🤘
Marilyn Manson came out with a phenomenal album too, his best in 24 years imo!
Whoa. That's high praise.
Do something about the sound 🔊
Gotta learn how to EQ this new mic. Hopefully I'll get it better next time.
The browning are def not deathcore 😭😭 cool album tho
Dude it’s Hungarian!
Yea super embarrasing flub on my part 🤦
Thy Catafalque country mix up is pretty embarrassing, you talked to the guy and still have no idea what his freaking country is
Very embarrassing. I did know, I just fucked up and then didn't catch it in the edit. Which is even more embarrassing. I've been dealing with Romania a lot for my day job and it's been on my mind. Still that's not a good excuse and I can and will do better.
I want metal, not prog !!!
Why not both 🤷🤘🤘
Can’t take it anymore.
Have you watched your videos on anything but a laptop? The mix is horrendous. There’s too much bass and mid.
Lots of people complaining about this one in particular. I got a new mic, gonna do some test recordings this week to try and improve the EQ.
How about Christian metal? How about a list of the best Christian metal albums you’re discovering?
That would be a fun but challenging project. There's a lot of great bands but sometimes it's hard to distinguish between who is a Christian band and who is a band who happen to be Christians. Thanks for the suggestion. Perhaps I need to think on this one more.
