      Gotta second that. Despite showing off a ton of expensive gear they do provide helpful insights for guitar players and haven't caved in to doing infomercials like other TH-camrs. I've learnt so much from these guys.

    I'm a bass player and listening to the explanations in these videos has been amazing for getting me to understand how to organize my tone, effects, and amp/speaker usage (yes, that is an Oxford comma for ya). Really allowed me to diversify why musical experience. You two answer questions I wasn't aware I had and clarify the ones I do. That's pretty sweet you guys get to teach this stuff. I'm a teacher. I'm trained to deliver information through speech and actions. You guys nail it well. Good on ya boys.

    I've been really sick for the past two days, unable to even muster the energy to play. This morning (3:30 am Los Angeles time), I was feeling a little better and decided to catch up on some vids. After watching half of this one, I found myself reaching for my guitar. Cut to an hour and a half later, I'm now back to finish the video. I guess what I'm saying is you guys have a truly infectious love for the instrument and inspire others to play. You're both excellent players too. Keep up the great work!

    This video is solid gold. The wet/dry/wet is absolutely amazing! It took me a second watch to realize that the orange amp was a stereo amp - fantastic hearing the timeline in a stereo fx loop. Been looking for a stereo amp for a while and this might be the perfect thing for me. Gonna go watch this again :)

    Dan and Mick, I watched this yesterday and created a wet dry rig at home this evening. I cheated, a bit because I don't have a Humdinger. Instead, I ran the guitar into the wah, compressor, and dirt pedals and then into a Blackstar HT5R. I took the 4x12 emulated output from the HT5R into my delay, reverb, and ditto looper, out into a Panama Conqueror 5. Omigolly, I am pleased! This! I have been searching for these tones and lush clarity and now it's here! Freaking brilliant! Thank you, dear lads, for your guidance and inspiration!

      Wet-Dry-Wet is a truly inspiring system but too difficult to achieve! To take care of three amps all together is a luxury for most of us...What about a stereo parallel system? Is it a easier solution for you guys?

    • @pappawookee
      @pappawookee 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can get wet-dry-wet with the Orange by adding just one other amp and running stereo outputs from pedals to one of the stereo returns and the other to the other amp's return.....so basically the rocker does wet and dry in its two speakers and the external amp does the other wet.....pretty cool.

    • @jonathanlongo6131
      @jonathanlongo6131 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well yes, I didn't considered any stereo amp for that! I should consider the idea of buying a stereo amp one day...But I think a stereo parallel set up is awesome as well as the wet-dry-wet! Take a look on the new system used by Steve Lukather, who was a great wet-dry-wet user and now he is running through a stereo parallel set up. Huge huge sound!

    • @pappawookee
      @pappawookee 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree completely man but I do like the little bit of dry in the mix, sometimes it just pushes through the mix a bit better, just the opinion of my aging ears though ;-). I suppose my only gripe about the stereo set-up in one amp is that you really need to mic it up to get the effect properly. The speakers are maybe a bit close to fully appreciate stereo in a live situation but it was really exciting to see my amp on the show haha. :-)

  • @DaveRave23
    @DaveRave23 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interested me - at 14:25 "its the same delay coming out of both speakers" - on my monitors the dry signal is dead centre but the "same delay" is panned hard left and hard right - so that delay pedal with its analogue through creates like a wet dry wet just through the two amps - when mic'd - could be useful for recording (its even more noticeable when in "stereo" like at 14:55 when pinging and ponging). That's completely different to the chorus pedal which has no centre sound at all. Great show. Always learning more.

    Excellent guys, my question which you answered perfectly related to how to use the effects loops of 2 combo’s with a stereo set up. My original material is all recorded in stereo, so reproducing the effect live is important to me.
    Your explanation is really helpful as using modulation or delay in the front end of my Boogie doesn’t work great, yet through the loop, sound fantastic, it’s less of an issue with my Marshall or Blackstar gear which work fine through the front. Using just one pre amp makes sense with the split being facilitated via the effects & returns of each amp’s loop. Many thanks, keep up the fantastic work👏👏👍👍👍

    Got all the way to Mick's Eurovision Song before I realized I had seen this episode last year! Another thing I want to mention is that most people don't think of EVH as a wet/dry/wet user, but he was. I really like the way he used Dimension D to simply fatten his sound. Today we have the Keeley 30MS pedal and the TC Electronics Mimiq for those who don't want to get all 'awash' in reverb/delay. For me, wet/dry/wet is the only way to go!!! Thanks again for all the belly laughs in this episode!!!

    As always - loved this demo. One of the things that would be fun for you to teach - and I may do a video of it myself if I can ever make the time...is using 2 different delays into 2 different Amps. (Kind of like the Edge does on a lot of songs). He would have one delay set to a shorter time than the other and they were panned left and right. I've done a few experiments with this - sonic-ly and rhythmically - it's a blast!

    Just made a "terrible discovery". If I turn up my headphones to max or one off max volume on my iPad with my sennheiser headphones it comes alive in a startling way. I just got the Rocker 15 and I love it! I was fascinated with the idea of the stereo 32, but I need to be able to run lower voltages. Fun fact about the 32 is you can use it for wet dry as well by only patching into one of the returns.

  • @CNCTEMATIC
    @CNCTEMATIC 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been waiting for you guys to do a stereo episode. I have a stereo mystery. I run a stereo set up quite similar to what you have here. However, I like to hit only one of my amps with drive, but both amps to get delay and reverb. So the signal path is: Guitar > ABY box (Radial Bigshot), then side A > OCD > TC Flashback A > Neunaber Immerse A > Amp A, while side B from the ABY bypasses the OCD and goes into the TC side B > Immerse B > Amp B. Here's the mystery: when I select either amp A or B only on the ABY, when the Immerse is on, the wet signal from the Immerse also comes out of the switched off amp. So if I select amp A, it works as normal, but amp B also plays the wet signal from the Immerse. Vice versa if I select amp A.
    I don't get it. It doesn't happen with the wet signal from the Flashback. Its got something to do with the Nuenaber being buffered bypass, I think. I went into Deluxe Guitars in Melbourne where I got the ABY to ask them. We set up a immitation rig with the same model ABY, but different amps and pedals, and the same thing happened there, but using a Strymon reverb (buffered) and a delay that was true bypass. They tried to explain it by saying ABY boxes have to be at the end, but it doesn't make sense to me. There should be no signal passing through the ABY to B when A is selected. I thought. Any thoughts? cheers

    I hooked up Wet/Dry the other night. Loved it. All my speakers were in phase, but I did worry about ground loop issues. Not sure I fully understand the ground loop thing, but I guess to be safe I should pick up something to isolate. When I hooked up the other night I had no hum at all. Thanks!

    Joe Bonamassa did a wet dry wet rig with a huge pedal board for years and that sound is what turned me back onto playing guitar. But as Joe said "you become a slave to your pedals", and that can be rather distracting from the art of playing the guitar. That's why he retired that rig about a year ago and now uses his Overrated Overdrive, his wah pedal and 3 high power tweeds so he can focus on the art of playing guitar. But I suspect there might be a rack with modulation effects that Mike Hickey can control.

    Dear god. Ok. Where do I start.
    1: I'd like to put at least one vote to cancel out the others... I for one love the boutique amps. I mean they sound better, come on. I get it more people have a hot rod deluxe but that two-rockkkkkk.
    2: I'm not sure how you make this so impossibly interesting to a person who's not even really that into pedals (let alone wetdrywetdrywetdry-ooh!) so, cheers for that, now I need to go buy 2 more lone stars.
    3: I was jussssst starting to get a little overwhelmed with info on something I'll probably never do and then...the end section of this video. Holy shit you guys. Like I said, was never that into pedals... been on a TPS bender for a few weeks now because it's just so damn enjoyable to watch you guys but Christ almighty you had me crying that was so funny.
    If you've made it to the comments and haven't watched the whole video, don't be a knob, go watch.

    MOUNT THE HORN ON A MIC STAND, YEAH!!!
    Awesome sounds... it will spoil you at home though, and the mix engineers and band mates get a good laugh when you show up at the gig with 3 amps and a 200 feet of cables! And unless you have a roady to pack and haul everything, you won't gig this way very long. Another thought, for these types of routing and setup videos, a diagram would be super helpful for those new to this more complex routing... I know... more work. Also, like the D&M drive, sounds rich and harmonic. Well done guys, keep it up! Thanks guys! La la la la la...

    There is so much information in this video! I wouldn't know where to begin to explain what I got from this!
    I will point out that If you pay attention to the different configurations you can hear how songs are mixed as well as how live rigs are designed!
    In my opinion, this video is the most informative video on TH-cam I've seen yet!
    Highly inspiring to say the least!
    Too many ideas dancing around in my head it's ridiculously crazy!

    I'm recently started getting into wet/dry thing and can't recommend it enough for someone who uses not just a ton of delays and reverbs, but also tremolo does sound very interesting, almost rotary like when mixed with a dry signal, worth a try.

    Horn idea: hang from telescoping mount, with spring return so it stays high normally and out of the way, and add a chain/rope pulldown for when needed, now back to the show!

    I've been messing with the stereo 2 amp set up for awhile and I have finally settled on skipping the amps and run directly into the board with my pedal board. I run into a OD pedal and then into a Distortion pedal then to a Russian Muff, which runs into my Zoom G3X. The Zoom has a lot of great stereo effects. I especially like using the stereo echo which delivers a different timing on each channel. Nice huge expansive sound. Granted it took a lot of tweaking to get a nice clean fender amp sim, but no amps to haul or mic. You guys are great, funny and very knowledgeable. Nice playing too. Oh and i realized I can order that "All you need is Fuzz" T-shirt, Yay! Love your Pedal Show!

    I use a Roland JC-40, using its parallel stereo effects loop (gain stages in the front, mods, reverbs and delays in the back) one can bluff a stereo wet-dry-wet rig in one compact amp! You guys should totally demo one on the show, the separation in the parallel effects loops is phenomenal.

    Dear Mick & Dan! thanks for this video, it's awesome!
    I have a question for you +That Pedal Show. I have this chain: guitar > eq > TC Viscous Vibe > distortion > delay > Amp
    But if I would like to use the second Viscous Vibe output into another amp, will I end up with the isolation/phase issue?
    thanks for any suggestion! keep going with your show!

    I DO play live in a band with my stereo rig. The band consists of drums,bass,keyboards and my guitar. We play blues based Rock with a classical type twinge of sound from the keyboardist. It's all about leaving "room" in the mix so the bass player covers the bass the keys cover the high end AND some bottom end. I cover all the mids and some bass, and trebs. You never know the outcome until you hear the mix off the stage. Trile and error.

    I use a POD HD500 for stereo Wet - Dry - Wet effects and direct out, in conjunction with a Carvin Nomad 112 tube amp (cream back speaker). No compromise on dry tone because I split the signal before going into the POD, lots of effects and not too much of a setup pain in the ...

    Awesome show as always, thanks :) If I could offer a suggestion for a future episode - I know you're That Pedal Show, but it would be absolutely amazing to see a video about rack setups. Having learned a lot about the G2 and its Extension Kit, I have a sneaking suspicion that it would do a brilliant job of taking care of a rack-based rig as well. Extension kit on the stage, G2 handling all the audio... There are loads of people that don't know how to connect all of that. On top of that, a lot of rack-based preamps have serial loops only, which then leads to a contentious debate about serial vs parallel loops... loads of viable subjects for a good show :)
