Now I totally get why older people would always tell me "back in my day, things were so much better". The 90s were 'my' day... and goddamn they were so much better than today.
And they were ALWAYS trying to tell us how we shoulda been around for "Woodstock, Hendrix, blah, blah, blah..." It was endless. Meanwhile we had so many musical riches happening then.
You could afford to make it on your own back then. You could maybe afford to buy a house and get married and have kids if you wanted. Now you're lucky if you're not homeless.
I love how they finished on Iris, from their first album, rather than something from their more commercially successful second. Not trying to appeal to the masses. Pod is a classic.
Don’t look back. It doesn’t really help at all. I do get that longing at times though because my youth truly was quite idillic. The 90’s was just a great time to be alive.
Everytime you see The Breeders (especially this lineup) you can tell they are having a blast playing together. The Deals' are all smiles and always seem to be on the verge of cracking up.
Josephine and Jim are just amazing as rhythm section. They always came up with tight and flawless performance around the time of Last Splash album. No wonder they are back into the fold for the last album and recent tour.
Iconic: a. : widely recognized and well-established. b. : widely known and acknowledged especially for distinctive excellence. As a kid who was 14 in 1993 who owned Last Splash and know many other kids who are still my friends who also owned it plus other friends in college and post… the intro to Cannonball for kids who watched 120 Minutes and MTV in general, “is one of the most iconic sounds f the 90’s”.
The chasm of time between now and then where all my teenage excitement and wonder went to die is a hard boil upon the weeping sigh of my sweaty eyed tears.
I was just sitting thinking how my parents had the 60's and I got to have the 90's as a young adult, so for decent music we should be there, but it seems the 30 year gap missed this decade, the only decent music I get to hear are the obscure bands following in the foot steps of Goth, Dark/Cold wave and synth bands I grew up listening to. I was not into "Grunge" or "Rave" music at the time but it was heaps better hearing on radio's than the crap spewing out these days.

@@ScottishTeeVee Hi Yes I believe so. Let me check and get back to you. My 2 VCRs and tapes are currently at the back of under my stairs. I think the newer VCR head will probably need adjusting as 90% of my tapes were recorded using the Philips 6585 plugged into an Astra Sky analogue box.
It's been over 30 years and I still can't get over how amazing Iris is. One of the most powerful things I've ever heard. They can just bash it out live and it sounds as good if not better than the record.
I can’t believe that in Tocumwal Nsw Australia. That one of Australia’s greatest bands spiderbait obviously had listened to the band that I’d never ducking heard about. They formed merely 16 kilometres from where I lived. Even though I’m now 40. Thank you all involved. This is the stuff of legend
I’m 64 and a music fan forever. While I knew of Cannonball since it hit, I never checked them out until about a year ago. amazing amazing band and music and nothing likes Kim’s vocals.

My Girlfriend in 93 gave me their CD I was too cool as a Jazz pianist actual musician but eventually that year I listened and really got it. She also liked Cake Delicious.
My brother was also a Jazz guitarist and was like "they don't know how to play their instruments" - same thing he said about The Pixies. I couldn't care less. Last Splash is one of the best albums of all time. End of story.

I guess the same could be said (scene not sound) for powerviolence as it’s not something I believe should or could be replicated, although a bit of a gear change in musical extremity haha
@@CharlesNotBronson Yeah for sure, it’s very odd. There’s even less you can do within the limitations of the sound too so I don’t know how people don’t find it over saturating. I feel like some things are special for a reason.

We just dont have the time to wander around on each one of them to feel how many of them were "there", unless you're into a certain genre so much, and you review music for a living. At the end of the day, I will always love a potent pv record. 😆
Remembering Dayton back in the day, the Walnut Hills, the old Belle, Canal Street Kim, Nate, Jimmy Mac, Louie, Phil, Mario Cart, Civic Nation, The Amps, a tour bus or two, Mitch, Neil, Powers, and the list and memories go on and on.....
This was the start of a new movement in the music industry. People still had hope and bands still required real talent to perform. It was a good vibe and up beat. This was right after Cobain died and radio was pushing the alternative scene.
Back in the early '90s when I was fortunate enough to be in my teenage years I bought Last Splash on the whole premise that Kurt Cobain said that the Breeders had been an influence on Nirvana. Even though I have not listened to the Album fully for years, I still remember it.
I'm so glad The Breeders happened, you know? When Kim isn't working on music that's music stolen out of existence. I thank god I saw Pixies at Bumbershoot because some based engineer at the controls thought it would be a good idea to juice Kim's bass and spoiler alert: It worked. She's the most important person in the band for her skills and perfect pitch.
Fucking hell.. Feeling REALLY old - I vividly remember watching this on its original transmission. Last saw them live in 2014 on the LSXX tour. Kim = CHRIST ❤
It's a pain being old, but at least we saw these bands at the time. My son and his friends are into many of the bands on this channel, I have brainwashed them, they can only dream of having seen these bands in the flesh.😆

@@mancfrank Ticket prices are shocking, but I guess for many bands this is now the main way they make some cash, where as in the past tours were often lucky to break even. I just priced two tickets for Deco in Edinburgh, £146.65 and thats the lowest priced ones, I did not bother.

Loved this band for bloody years now, they never age I never grow tired. Superb brilliant brilliant band, and an outstanding set the premier line up smashing it. Magic
One of my fave bands. I felt that punk had sold out by 1978, but I was the only one that noticed. I was impressed with their raw sound; to me, rock should sound all cruddy, borderline-inept, and Grandmaw-offending, or it's not rock and roll.
