I love them since a kid. I just got some from Aldi. My mom’s from NC. We live in DC as well. My mom calls them Bullets. I just recently after 40+ yrs learned the real name of them which explains why grocery stores never know what they’re was asking about 😅
Today I learned about Muscadine grapes at a ladies luncheon. Each of us received a small jar of Muscadine jam. Before today I never knew about this grape. Looking forward to eating it.
I just watched the beginning of your video because I search the fruit on Google and found your video! 70s!? You look like you weren’t thought of in the 70s lol. I’m definitely going to get some now! I called a farmers market looked for seeded grapes, and they mentioned these! I’m so excited to get some now, thanks! Lol seriously ❤ great video
Thanks for this! I just moved to NC this summer and saw these in the store today. I tried them and was a bit surprised at the taste and texture. Your ideas on how to use them are great and I'll definitely look at making a jam. Awesome video! New subscriber here!
You definitely eating it wrong .. put either the top or the bottom of it in ur mouth and pinch the other end with your fingers and pop the insides out into ur mouth .. you get all the juice and don’t need a knife .. I grew up eating these off the vine that way
Muscadines have a wild, somewhat gamey flavor that is very different and much less sweet than that of the thin skinned grapes you find at a supermarket.
I love love love muscadines! Last week there were no muscadines (purple skins) available. So I bought scuppernongs. They are absolutely delicious! I pop the whole fruit in my mouth, bite and pop comes the juice, mmmmm, then chew the flesh, spit out the skin and seeds.
I'd like to see you make the pie. I also say that muscadines are totally rad. I had one for the first time today. I also bought it from cottle farms and oh my god, I ate the whole container in one sitting
Thnx so much! I have some and popped one in my mouth and it was awful!!! Going to try to peel one when your video is over and see if I like them that way. Thnx again!!!
i agree about the skins - although it is tough, the flesh that is closest to the skin has the highest aroma and taste (which is very interesting). I also find this true for fox grapes and fox-Thompson hybrids (Early Campbells, Concords, Japanese Kyohos, etc.), but since fox grapes are a slip-skin type the skin is too tough to be pleasantly edible, which makes me just suck on the skins and scrape with my teeth. Funnily enough, I have no idea where to buy them in Texas except from Asian markets - it's weird that I can only buy truly American grapes from foreigners!
Hey Julianna! Firstly, thank you! I'm almost 50. I just eat super healthily (vegan) and I stay outta the sun! Hopefully that'll keep my skin healthy!!!
Cultivated varieties are every bit as sweet as commercial grapes. The wild ones aren't as sweet though. They are much higher in resverotrol which is a proven cancer fighting agent. Also, us pros swallow the seeds which has the good stuff in it.
Yes!!! All around the skin of my mouth. It's called OAS. Oral allergy syndrome, common in those with spring allergies. They are similiar to proteins in pollens.
I’m from Alabama and I eat these all the time they are excellent so three thumbs up and I make my own wine so if you ever get some good homemade muscadine wine, you’ll be saying the same thing when you taste it nothing like you’ve ever had
Bite off the tip where the stem connects, and use your teeth to pull off the skin, eating as you go, then suck out the flesh and spit out the seeds. No knife needed, and it's good exercise for your tongue. Your lady will appreciate you for practicing.

Lucky you!!! I'm thinking about growing muscadines this year. Wish me luck🙂
They grew along side my grandparents house in Albany, GA.
Yum! I just got back from a trip to Georgia yesterday! I think I'm going to make jam with any muscadines I find this year. 🍇
Omg I wanna be your friend, you seem like so much fun and so enthusiastic about life
I live in NC and I am currently eating a bowl of muscadine grapes 😊

I guess you can. A lil toooo crunchy for me🙂
Do they actually make your mouth itchy?
Yes!!! All around the skin of my mouth. It's called OAS. Oral allergy syndrome, common in those with spring allergies. They are similiar to proteins in pollens.
You put the whole grape in your mouth suck the juice, eat the flesh, and spit out the skin and seeds. I don’t know what this dude is talking about.

i've gotten a few comments about wine now...i gotta check into this! 🍷
We call them bullet grapes in the south
Almost like a concord grape. Just bigger.
