The reason why Valstrax’s theme isn’t as epic as the original is because you have to know that crimson glow Valstrax is not like the regular one. It’s a Valstrax that lost its mind from the sheer amount of dragon energy it’s dragon sac is generating. Dragon Element within the world of MH is mysterious and VERY dangerous which is why it’s mostly an exclusive ability for the elder dragons while only some of the non elders can control it. Regular Valstrax’s theme was like watching a comet soar through the beautiful night sky. Crimson Glow’s is like watching a comet crashing down to earth, causing mass destruction.
I wish everything you were saying was actually portrayed by the Monster in game and not fabricated statements, Crimson Glow is hardly a Variant. His HR counterpart is literally MR Valstrax from GenU but with a laser and slight adjustments to how his dragon shots work. Every new move his MR version gains feels like something Valstrax could always do as its normal self without needing this apparent variation. Rusted Kushala is somehow more deviated from its original then Crimson Glow.
@@shagarumedic I watched this music composer here on TH-cam who goes by Davi Vasc. He’s reacted to a lot of MH music including CG Val’s theme. He said that this version is sped up a bit compared to the original. The reason why it’s sped up because it’s to sound more menacing. Giving you the feeling that yes, this is Valstrax. But something’s wrong about it. It’s a lot more aggressive compared to the default version. Which is why I compare regular Valstrax as watching a shooting star fly across the sky, gracefully and the embodiment of freedom. Meanwhile, Crimson Glow is watching that same shooting star crashing down from the sky and it’s heading straight towards you, and it’s going to cause destruction. That’s just how I view these themes. Im not out here coping that’s just how I see it. Monster Hunter is a video game with lore that makes you come up with theories and speculate on how these monsters live and how this world works.
If you ear well, the narwa and the ibushi have the 2 differents sisters for each one and the Allmother is the copbination of the 2 voices of the sisters
The absolute worst version of any theme from the sheer downgrade is astalos’ new theme. The removal of the electric guitar from the main part, just makes it so much less representative if the monster
That’s fair. I love the new Astalos theme because it took a different approach. To me, neither is better. Both are a different flavor of Astalos’s theme

The Allmother is my favorite theme of the entire soundtrack, i have it on loop all the time at least once per day, i love it that much, and second, i will say that, The Flame of Peace is my second favorite in the entire OST, and the third one is... Well, Proof of a Hero. I'm loving your videos Frost, i recently whatched most of them in a small marathon, and the quality is 10/10
I may have arrived late but looking at the themes you like the most in general, you like the melodies that are heroic or the ones with big consecutive impacts like the trumpets, themes of grandeur and attack, while the more chaotic, malevolent and intriguing themes, so to speak, not so much, which most of Rise was based on. Red roaming roar for me is perfect, definitely my top 1 the way they represent the terror of the villagers when the apex arrive clashing with the bravery of the hunters is magnificent, it's as if the melodies were fighting just like us against the apex.
I really love this iteration of Teostra's theme as it just sounds and sort of serves to be the closest sounding to the original theme of Teostra with the drums most importantly, you could quite literally recreate the KFC video with Rise's take on his theme.
I actually disagree with this quite a bit. The pet area and training area are high tier for me... Man, you did Narga dirty too. Also... Shrine ruins theme is just kinda better than all other area themes (excluding volcano cavey place). There is so much to say... And you absolutely butchered bazelgeuse's name. What Kushala Daora's theme makes me feel is unlike what any other elder dragon's gheme makes me feel. On some, it's an epic fight to the death. On others, I am fighting against a Dragon-shaped God. But Kushala's theme, specially in that violin segment, makes me feel like I its not a fight I should be a part of. Its chilling, quiet, slow, subtle but somewhat malicious. Just like hypothermia.

Actually, you would say it like that, in Spanish. In fact, Tigrex is literally just the Spanish word for Tiger, with an x added at the end. So the “Tea” pronunciation does not come out of nowhere.
This is a great list, the only I disagree is Valstrax’s theme and Breath of Ire, but it is still good. I hope you also make one for Sunbreak with like Astalos, Espinas, and more

Weird how different everyone's lists are. Overall i think what really got people conflicted was the lack of percussion & audio density in the remastered themes. Case & points Valstrax, Nargacuga & Mizitsune. Where's there umpff Capcom? I like how Valstrax got his extent but the whole theme is just missing something. The original got so much just right & when one of those just right things went absent it really shows. Tricks my brain into thinking there was supposed to be more. I love Rise's OST but i could only really get into them once i just accepted that they were going for entirely different feelings to other MH OSTs. Just like Iceborne, i had a pretty hard time adjusting to Glavenus' 5 gen theme. But once i mentally recontextualized theme I felt it actually went pretty well for Acidic Glavenus. To me Rajang & Tigrex ate the same. Tigrex was more than a bit odd to me but once i thought of Walking with Beasts or something with David Attenborough it grew immensely well on me. For Rajang instead of thinking of just a raging unstoppable monkey monster, i thought of a villainous monk or a monks chant of destruction. Some soundtracks just feel like they were to thematic & derivative for their own good. Especially the Wyvern Ride theme. A track so common to the game being so simple was probably good on paper but my Gog is it repetitive & intrusive to the hunts feel after a while.
Onestly I was spending half of the video looking at it maliciously and saying "HOW DID U PUT THIS SO LOW AND Y THIS SO HIGH" but then I just thought that if the rise themes can vary so much up to personal preference then it means that it can satisfy everyone in some way + the fact that most themes where THIS close to top tier just shows how good rise themes are

I'm not sure if you forgot this one or you weren't including all of the tracks, but you didn't rank "Rise of a New Hunter." This theme plays when you customize your character. Actually, I think it's really just Rise's menu theme, but I would have liked to know what you thought of it.
I forgot about that one honesty. Thanks for bringing it up because I I really like it, it's quite peaceful and really sets the tone for the adventure ahead.

Funny enough, I just don't understand why people like the original Valstrax so much. Like I listen and compare it and I just can't like it over Rise's Valstrax. The old one just feels so slow. After listening to the reasons, is really surprising how different tastes some people can have. A lot of the times you said "This ruins it for me" I find myself thinking "But that's the best part!"
Me personally I would replace Buddy Plaza Theme to Kamura Village Theme, after hearing it for so many hours I got tired of hearing it especially with the added vocals. I like the previous MH Vilage theme more without the vocals, I just feel relax and happy listening to Buddy Plaza Theme while watching my buddies train. This is absolutely well made video. Kushala theme tho just give me chills everytime it's that good.
I've honestly never been a fan of Tigrex's theme. Especially this iteration. None of it feels fitting for something so... bestial. There's no refinement to Tigrex, so why is its theme so ostentatious? The ethereal choir just ISN'T fitting. It sounds like something from bloodborne, not a theme for a primal dinosaur monster that just wants to eat and fight everything it lays eyes on.
Hmm, how strange, so we agree on a few things, but my main differences are: Swap Narwa and Ibushi's themes, I feel like Narwa's is greatly inferior, it doesn't have that slowly droning feeling of "I will decimate EVERYTHING!" That Ibushi's somber, yet declarative theme has. I'd put Teostra RIGHT next to Rajang's, this version of Teostra's is the worst to me, it's behind the Gen 4U (older gen) versions, with World still being the best version for me. Rajang needed a glow up to make him FEEL more mystic since they were going with a more mystic variation of his theme. Valstrax's theme, is a top 10 for me regardless of the feeling of a downgrade.
I hate the wyvern riding theme entirely because it halts any monster or area theme you’re listening to, the song will be building up just as you get on the monster and all that anticipation is gone as those generic drums kick in Also, the way you pronounce bazel is hilarious, in a good way
5:53 for me this is the song equivalent to an annoyed “seriously, you again?!” because tigrex actively irritates me with how it always wants to fight me
Late to the Party, But I'm thinking I Must be the only person in the world who loves Khezu's Theme. Its perfect, fighting a Scary Monster that screams a lot and mostly always in a dark damp cave. Really gets to you if you listen to it too long.
The Apex monsters make me miss the Deviants, and I wish that the rampage hadn't been cancelled at G Rank. I would have loved if they had made a remix for the Deviant theme for hunts in the areas accessible after you go to Elgado.

It's wild. The only upgraded theme I hated was Chameleos, and you loved that one. It felt like such a downgrade, and felt like it was prolonged to me. We just got different ears I guess 😂😂😂
I think besides personal preference, what you're listening on makes all the difference. I don't play Monster Hunter without good headphones. Those bass tones really make or break a song for me. For example the Brave Hunter hub theme I never get tired of listening on headphones, but I do if listening on a tv because it's so flat and the bass tones literally make the song and it's missing.
I think they tried to make tigrex theme more terrifying but this is the result these implies to the other theme of monster and making the music less intense than the fight did not fit very well
Your list is almost like the opposite, I love the vocals in Rajang's and Nargacuga's theme but hate the vocals in Chameleos' theme. I'm pretty sure Chameleos is the only one where I feel like the vocals made the theme much worse. Awesome video though.
I like that you're committed to your opinions but I do wish you were able to articulate more clearly what it was you did or did not like about each piece. It's obviously your opinion, so you can say "I don't like it because it sucks" and I can not tell you that you are wrong. But I am left wondering WHY you thought it sucked. You brought up the vocals in Nargacuga's theme. What about them though? Too light? Too heavy? Too quiet? Too loud? You compared Rajang's old theme to this theme and played both as if to illustrate that the Iceborne theme is clearly better. But why? More bombast? More energy? Again - it was a lot of fun to hear your ranking but articulating why you hold these particular opinions would have been even more fun.
ngl i would have loved to hear some explanations too since i feel like the odd one out for not liking the serpent themes, most players praise them and rank them high but i found the vocals in game annoying asf… way too loud and high pitched, i could barely hear the instrumental over the girls screeching them vowels for so long
Jeez fella, just sounds like ya hard to impress. Ain't wrong with that. I just loves most of the soundtrack in Rise mainly because I like choirs and vocal performance in general. All mother Narwa's theme, The counter Signal theme, and Magna's theme are some that I listens to regularly
This video was pretty entertaining to watch, I disagreed with a lot of it. For example, I really liked the vocals in rajangs theme because I think they fit with his bizzare almost humanoid form if that makes sense. Still though I’m glad you gave kushalas theme some proper love and attention and it was nice to hear all of these themes and your opinions on them
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However: Red Roaming Roar deserves more, sure it’s not for everyone. I agree it’s very chaotic and all over the place, however it fits the Apex monsters perfectly, and after a while of not enjoying it, you warm up to it and for me, the more I listen to it, the better it gets. The part where to beat drops, it feels like the very heavens are screaming out in pure terror of the Apexes, it’s so fast and so powerful. It’s just heaven
It kind of hurt, as a series vet, to see vocals added to all themes. It made the elder/endgame themes hit way less. Chanting used to be the scariest shit ever, now every monster has chanting and vocals, its not nearly as effective. New players dont knoe how hard we shit ourselves when dire miralis theme hit 🥺😔

Me personally I would replace Buddy Plaza Theme to Kamura Village Theme, after hearing it for so many hours I got tired of hearing it especially with the added vocals. I like the previous MH Vilage theme more without the vocals, I just feel relax and happy listening to Buddy Plaza Theme while watching my buddies train. This is absolutely well made video. Kushala theme tho just give me chills everytime it's that good.

I've honestly never been a fan of Tigrex's theme. Especially this iteration. None of it feels fitting for something so... bestial. There's no refinement to Tigrex, so why is its theme so ostentatious? The ethereal choir just ISN'T fitting. It sounds like something from bloodborne, not a theme for a primal dinosaur monster that just wants to eat and fight everything it lays eyes on.
Rise was my first MH game - Mitsuzune and Sandy Plain theme for sure - Magnamalo is gr8 as well
Hmm, how strange, so we agree on a few things, but my main differences are:
Swap Narwa and Ibushi's themes, I feel like Narwa's is greatly inferior, it doesn't have that slowly droning feeling of "I will decimate EVERYTHING!" That Ibushi's somber, yet declarative theme has.
I'd put Teostra RIGHT next to Rajang's, this version of Teostra's is the worst to me, it's behind the Gen 4U (older gen) versions, with World still being the best version for me. Rajang needed a glow up to make him FEEL more mystic since they were going with a more mystic variation of his theme.
Valstrax's theme, is a top 10 for me regardless of the feeling of a downgrade.

I hate the wyvern riding theme entirely because it halts any monster or area theme you’re listening to, the song will be building up just as you get on the monster and all that anticipation is gone as those generic drums kick in

Late to the Party, But I'm thinking I Must be the only person in the world who loves Khezu's Theme. Its perfect, fighting a Scary Monster that screams a lot and mostly always in a dark damp cave. Really gets to you if you listen to it too long.

The Apex monsters make me miss the Deviants, and I wish that the rampage hadn't been cancelled at G Rank. I would have loved if they had made a remix for the Deviant theme for hunts in the areas accessible after you go to Elgado.

It's wild. The only upgraded theme I hated was Chameleos, and you loved that one. It felt like such a downgrade, and felt like it was prolonged to me. We just got different ears I guess 😂😂😂
I think a huge change from mhw to mhr rose themes is that rise sacrifices the boldness world had for more graceful songs (and vocals)
I think besides personal preference, what you're listening on makes all the difference.
I don't play Monster Hunter without good headphones. Those bass tones really make or break a song for me. For example the Brave Hunter hub theme I never get tired of listening on headphones, but I do if listening on a tv because it's so flat and the bass tones literally make the song and it's missing.
I think they tried to make tigrex theme more terrifying but this is the result

I like narga's vocals but I don't like the instrumentation. A perfect mix for me would be world's narga's theme with rise vocals
Your list is almost like the opposite, I love the vocals in Rajang's and Nargacuga's theme but hate the vocals in Chameleos' theme. I'm pretty sure Chameleos is the only one where I feel like the vocals made the theme much worse. Awesome video though.
Crimson glow should be higher, it symbolizes a more aggressive Valstrax, while the old was more elegant i guess

To be honest Rajang theme was pretty low for me but it grew on me
I absolutely love Cold Blue and Flaming Reds. Everytime I go into lava caverns to fight a Rathalos or Rakna Kadaki it just hits so hard

It's obviously your opinion, so you can say "I don't like it because it sucks" and I can not tell you that you are wrong. But I am left wondering WHY you thought it sucked. You brought up the vocals in Nargacuga's theme. What about them though? Too light? Too heavy? Too quiet? Too loud? You compared Rajang's old theme to this theme and played both as if to illustrate that the Iceborne theme is clearly better. But why? More bombast? More energy?
Again - it was a lot of fun to hear your ranking but articulating why you hold these particular opinions would have been even more fun.
ngl i would have loved to hear some explanations too since i feel like the odd one out for not liking the serpent themes, most players praise them and rank them high but i found the vocals in game annoying asf… way too loud and high pitched, i could barely hear the instrumental over the girls screeching them vowels for so long

I just loves most of the soundtrack in Rise mainly because I like choirs and vocal performance in general. All mother Narwa's theme, The counter Signal theme, and Magna's theme are some that I listens to regularly

This video was pretty entertaining to watch, I disagreed with a lot of it. For example, I really liked the vocals in rajangs theme because I think they fit with his bizzare almost humanoid form if that makes sense. Still though I’m glad you gave kushalas theme some proper love and attention and it was nice to hear all of these themes and your opinions on them

Red Roaming Roar deserves more, sure it’s not for everyone.
I agree it’s very chaotic and all over the place, however it fits the Apex monsters perfectly, and after a while of not enjoying it, you warm up to it and for me, the more I listen to it, the better it gets.
The part where to beat drops, it feels like the very heavens are screaming out in pure terror of the Apexes, it’s so fast and so powerful.

It kind of hurt, as a series vet, to see vocals added to all themes. It made the elder/endgame themes hit way less. Chanting used to be the scariest shit ever, now every monster has chanting and vocals, its not nearly as effective. New players dont knoe how hard we shit ourselves when dire miralis theme hit 🥺😔
