Both Nick and Coach Mangini are right. If Joe had a preexisting calf issue and was still practicing that’s one thing, but if he was wearing the sleeve for other reasons and got hurt randomly then that’s not on anyone.

People were chastasing Aaron Rodgers for a similar injury just a couple of weeks ago, calling it an excuse for his usual lack of off-season participation but those types of injuries are nasty. I hope Joe makes a quick, problemfree recovery. Calf injuries can come from all directions: hamstring, knee, achilles or even foot. There might be some underlying issue with atrophy after his ACL recovery.
It’s funny how much people love to hate on Rodgers
RODGERS is a lot older. He can’t afford to have lingering soft tissue injuries. He needs to constantly have his body optimized and. It too stiff, out of shape or stressed. He’s around the same age Bret was when he left the packers and got injured

Mangini may not be the most charismatic talker but he is smart. He's one of the few who recognizes that Andy Reid has far more influence on QB success than people realize. Mangini also recognizes Greg Roman's success (unlike so many Ravens fans). In 10 yrs an OC in the NFL, Roman has finished worse than 15th in pts only 3 times and he had Colin Kaepernick, Tyler Huntley, Tyrod Taylor and Alex Smith as his QBs for the vast majority of his time as OC. Plus he had 3 top 10 seasons. He was OC for Lamar Jackson's epic 2019.
I find it odd that Coach brings up the Patriots and Colts in the early 2000s for 2 reasons. Number 1 is that Brady won six in a row, and number 2 is that 4 out of 6 of those games were won by 10+ points, half of them being won by 17+, and the first 2 being won by a combined margin of 52 points. The Bengals and Chiefs aren't the Pats and Colts because they have played such insanely close games with each being decided by a single field goal.
Yup, in 4 games the Bengals/Chiefs is only a +6 point margin for the Bengals. Doesnt get much closer than that.
Coach mangini nailed it. Mahomes just looks good in Andy Reid’s system. They won division three years in a row before mahomes lol

Burrow is a great QB, no need to overrate or make excuses for him. Reality is Bengals offense usually underperforms in playoffs; their defense carries the slack. Burrow failed to get in FG range against the Rams, and failed to score late in the game against the Chiefs, even throwing multiple INTs, yet he's Teflon. They used to make excuses for Rodgers too. I think Burrow can win a SB, he doesn't need excuses, only the fans do.

I'm with Nick here, not sure why he was put there and running if he had a sleeve on his calf, it's not like Joe Burrow is known for wearing sleeves on his legs. So, no, the AFC West hasn't been bad for a long time. There was a down year for the West back in 2011, which is probably what you're thinking of. But then in 2013 the AFC West put 3 teams in the playoffs and it was only a 6 team format back then.

Hate to say it but Nick is 100% on this and once big Joe breaks the record it will be tough to keep the band together and stay at the top of the class.
Mahomes has 2 rings both in which he made clutch plays. There is no discussion.
Mangini tends to assume he knows everything becauee he coached, which is is fine but sometimes he says things that contradict himself, he's always been a guy that says hard beat a team three times in one season, yet thinks the chiefs can easily beat the chargers three times despite the fact that they play the Cheifs well every day
Exactly 🎯🎯
What was that elevator music for during coach talking 😅
Like any injury, Joe's calf strain is a problem. It already was some kind of problem or he wouldn't have been wearing that sleeve on his calf to begin with. Nobody knows how long his rehab will take, but I assume the team won't let him play unless he's actually ready to go. Because 17 games is too long to play with an injury.
Joe was just doing his best impression of limpy gimpy Mahomes.
Joe himself said he was looking forward to have a “regular” off-season. Going through camp and the process. I don’t believe the calf issue will linger through much of the season, maybe the few weeks of the season. We know Joe Burrow is going to be back at full strength and he’s going to want to be out there to get in a rhythm with his offense, hobbled or not.
If it isn’t healed and he plays on it then it will linger

Mahomes takes less because he knows he's already a brand forever. He just locked in to overall a guaranteed $400+ million. He's got apparel, endorsements which is ridiculous money, part owner of the Royals, and whatever else he wants to do forever. He gets to stay in the city he loves, play football and leave a legacy for his family. Mahomes got the best contract in history. *Edited to add; this contract was the first real deal to slingshot pro football contracts in the tier with MLB and NBA. It set the bar not only for his position, but for every great player(and to extent everyone else), to cash in on their deserved slice. Football is the most popular sport in the country. It makes the most money and has the biggest endorsement and tv deals. And it's about to get sicker with all the tech money(TH-cam premium will now carry all NFL games). They have the shortest careers and do the most damage to their body. These guys can not only get their piece, but they can lock into longer term deals spending more time trying to play mostly for one team. That allows these players more ability to raise a family and not have to uproot every 3 years. By the end they can evaluate their future. Do they have any left or are they content? They can choose to hang it up for the one team they gave it all for. They can take less to keep playing there if a reduced contract is the offer(which makes sense because by then they may have lost a step). Or they can find a deal elsewhere if they have some left and the team chooses to part ways. He also took "less money" because on top of all of that, he did his part to help this organization keep winning. Using that money to put towards signing free agents and solid contributors. A guy goes down, they have one on deck. They lose a superstar for any reason, they'll get another. You never know what skill player will have the big game week to week. He finds whoever is open and spreads the ball around. That's why the only fantasy players of value on KC are him and Kelce. You can't even bank on one constantly as a flex because Mahomes doesn't lock onto anyone. Kelce is always option 1, then it's whoever is most open. Plus Andy Reid is one of the greatest all time and future HOF head coaches. He's a great guy every athlete loves to play for, they have fun, and get to basically keep winning and be a part of a dynasty while doing it. This contract not only vaulted the bar, it will be remembered as the deal that changed the financial landscape for the athletes

Turf monster strikes again... Almost all these lower leg, no contact injuries are NOT "freak injuries". Joey B & J Ram, both got bit not even a week into training camp. Turf has to go.
FYI J ram was a contact injury from tyreke hill not a turf monster.. just letting you know so you dont make dumb statements all over the net
I agree with Kylo Ren. Burrow shouldn't have been out there.
Mangini owned Nick in this segment😂
Burrow taking a page outta the RB call...fake a bs injury...and sit out 1-10 games 😅
Burrow cant afford to miss any games if he wants to compete for a Super Bowl.
Did you see the behind the back throw 😭😭😭
