    And many years later, you are still helping people with this video! Exactly what I needed, and a quick and inexpensive DIY. Thank you!

    For me, the ideas in th-cam.com/users/postUgkxAfqpMLyFn37qcqUl0FAzqkkycQeXqrhP Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.

    A good video except for a couple of oversights. First, if the valve has been in place for a few years, it's probably encrusted in place and needs pulling out by grasping the stem with pliers and pulling upward. Second, close the drain in the sink before emptying the bag containing the new cartridge, because the plastic "stop" is not attached to anything and will probably fall out of the cartridge and may go down the drain (the stop works by running into a coupe of ridges built into the interior of the sink handle, so it may seem useless till the handle is in place). Third, the little spring goes big-end-first into the opening at the bottom of socket, and the little black plastic tube fits over the spring. Fourth, I believe the "key" is the tab in the white plastic portion of the cartridge that fits into a notch on the socket that receives the cartridge. It slides into the notch only about halfway, so don't be hammering on the cartridge to get it all the way in.

    Helpful video and very well done, thanks. A heads up - to fix a leaky handle base, as seen in this video, all that really needs to be replaced, rather than the $15 cartridge assembly, is the 2 O-rings in the original cartride. Small o-ring #83 for the stem and larger o-ring #67 for the body. About $2.50 each for a 10 pack. Some plumbers grease is always useful for smooth re-assembly. Replacing the valve seat cup and spring at the same time is a good idea too ($3 - $4).

    This is the best DIY I found. Thankfully it shows each step & assembly for geniuses like me who forgoit to pay attention when disassembling. Also appreciated that there wasn't a long intro full of irrelevant information.

    Thanks, very useful. To mention my delta faucet set screw was 3/32". Close sink drain or put paper towel over drain in case you drop a part. For me the flat part needed to be pointed left away from faucet and was in closed position I think.

    I bought a Danco 3S-9H/C to repair a dripping Delta two handle faucet on the hot side. Couldn't figure out how to make the hot stem handle work in the right direction until I noticed the Danco stem separates into two large parts. Push down on the top and separate the two parts, adjust one by 180 degrees, then you can get the stops which may also be called shoulders to line up correctly with your handle. This was not in any instructions on the box. this stem also does not have removable shoulders like my original. (should have searched for an more expensive original)
    If both your handles rotate the same direction you won't have an issue, but on my two handle Delta, the hot and cold water handles rotate in opposite directions to turn on the water. Counterclockwise to turn on hot, CW for the other handle for cold.
    BTW, I didn't review the entire excellent video, so I hope this doesn't repeat anything in this solid video.

    Bizarre that Delta doesn't sell spring/seat gasket/gasket on cartridge, as a set by default.

    The spring fell deep into the shank. Had to fish it out with a modified coat hanger. Isnt it supposed to stay in place. Any ideas on why it fell to the bottom?

    Nice video; thanks. Unfortunately my professional plumber is unable to solve the problem after installing a new cartridge (RP24096) complete with 1/4 turn stop (RP2409) and new seat/spring RP4993. When installed the same direction as it was prior to removing the old cartridge the water does not turn off. However, it does turn off when rotated 180degrees ... but of course that means the handle is facing backwards . Any advice ?

    • @christopherc9641
      @christopherc9641 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It sounds like it is installed 180 deg off. I would take it off and double check.

      Had the same issue and just (mostly) fixed it. The top of the valve will rotate 90 degrees so that it faces the same direction as the original and then you turn the metal piece in the center so that the flat slot is facing the right way and lines up with the insides of the handle. Mine now faces the right way but there's not a lot between having it turned off all the way and it starting to drip. I solved the problem but wish there were 15-20 degrees of rotation before it starts to drip. Will call Delta tomorrow for instructions.

    It’s not the cartridge that goes bad. Typically the plastic cartridge is fine, just replace the o-ring around the cartridge and the seat washer and spring and save $20 per handle

      If it's not related to corrosion in the valve, you might have an o-ring inside the cartridge that's bloated or too large.

    Any thoughts on removing a a corroded bonnet nut? I'm attempting to replace a bad cartridge on a delta faucet on a roman faucet with no access to the underside.. Afraid of twisting off the supply lines.

    How tight to you tighten bonnet nut? Did I over tighten?

    • @icreatablestv
      @icreatablestv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes the oring gets unseated when you push it in and causes leaks.

  • @simplekindofman8867

  • @ltetobago
    @ltetobago 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    What if it is leaking from the spout? Whats the ususl problem? And what if the bonnet nut holding the cartridge seems stripped? Teflon tape?

    • @icreatablestv
      @icreatablestv  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ltetobago A bad cartridge would be my first guess. The cartridge and its o-rings are what stops the water. If your bonnet nut is stripped it may not be holding the cartridge and whole assembly tight so that could also cause a leak.

    • @ltetobago
      @ltetobago 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      iCreatables thanks I fixed it, I changed the seat and rings? Put in the new cartridge (because i had it), 7 wraps of teflon tape and its all set..i ordered a new bonnet nut from deltas site..they were discontinued at home depot...thanks again!!

    What is the key ? I cant see anything like a key what do you mean?

    • @icreatablestv

      The key is the piece of plastic that sticks off the side that does not allow the cartridge to turn past the point that the key hits.
