You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned how expensive it gets when the wife comes along and expects b and b , eating out etc etc. Im like you i can just wing it on the cheap and its an adventure but the wife its just not good enough lol. I can have a great day out on a push bike for next to nothing, pack a sandwich, bag of crisps and bottle of water and life is good. Never been to the TT but love the.idea of going, those riders are nuts.😂
I went 2023 by boat, slept on the boat each night, had barbecues not every night, had breakfast on the boat, for 8 days straight, buying copious amounts of beer and a tattoo. £1100 spent, but dont regret it. The weather was Schorchio every minute
Amazed how you kept the cost down, your very much in tune with the way I think, it's great to go along with your rides. As you say we mostly have tough choices, so it's great to share.
There’s usually a local guy, a councillor on the island, who makes TT videos, so I reckon a few smaller channels have bared the fruits of him being on holiday for it and everyone desperate for TT content! I love the island, been going there since I was a kid, it’s a neat little place, the boat is ridiculously expensive though nowadays.
Most of my views came from me getting on the ferry. I didn’t give it any thought, just switched the cam on. The ones in the island didn’t do so well. Probably going to the Manx TT this year as I am desperate 😆
Been going to tt for over 20 years, £40 per night in 4 star b&b for a double room per night. Went for 15 nights total cost ferry , petrol bandb, food and spends cost me £1250. for full practice and race week
Well done Man, your style really suits the IOM, where quality comes before quantity! But, our 'Dear Leaders' are rapidly doing their level best to destroy everything we stand for!
Always fancied going the the TT but sadly it hasn't happened yet maybe one day, also noted in the video you seem to be a local chap to myself anyhow as I recognise a lot of those roads.
the truth is it is an expensive place to go when the racing is on you didn't appear to do too bad with the ferry i went to this years southern 100 and the ferry was £275 with the bike when i went last september it cost me and my pals £120 for the same trip when no racing was on they do hike it up but at least the ferry is owned by the IOM these days and you have to remember they sponser a lot of the races i guess you could say the racing is free to watch makes up for it, if you want to go you have to pay and thats it really i enjoyed this years southern100 even though it rained solid for two days and they had no racing tuesday and wednesday hasn't stopped me booking for next year(glad i wasn't camping)
Bloody hell that's cheap . I went to the 2024 Manx GP . I was there for two weeks . The first week at GlenLough campsite . The tent was good but the bed not 74 friendly .The second week I was joined by my daughter and her family as they were traveling europe and we shared a B&b from that point . We went on to Scotland for an additional two weeks , this was very cheap by comparison . Including a side trip to Birmingham for the national motorcycle museum , just under five weeks NZ to NZ the trip cost almost $ 14 thousand NZD , about 7 thousand pounds sterling .
Always was an exercise in parting the punters from their money, back in the late sixties early seventies, one night's half board at £6 was the equivalent of half a week's wages to me plus the cost of ferries on top - never was cheap.. After supporting the TT for 34 years and 2 MGP's, we decided - sadly - it was one rip off too many and followed the Irish scene instead, still do, even though there's no racing, (Isle o Man Minister for tourism take note.) Isle o Man's own estimates for the income to the tourist industry put it at around £32,000,000, not bad for a week.......!
Will stick with the southern and hope the TT committee don't get to run it. Know ex riders who live on the island and they won't entertain the TT now with the changes to newcomers practice and the removal of historic scoreboards etc. Camping is the only way for the normal race fan to afford to get there.
I go nearly every year. apart from the ferry which is a rip off I use homestay which is a out 50or 60 quid a night plus beer money and fuel i reckon about 1200 on a bike never regret spending a penny just go you'll never regret it
I go every year on the bike, the ferry is expensive to be fair. I take my bike and bring my own camping gear, i dont spend a whole either. It doesnt have to be expensive
Will have to show this to my mate as he thinks its to expensive to go, admittedly my race week ferry cost £330 bought the week before going but union mills campsite was cheap at £9 a night then about £20 a day for food/drink but still not mad cost.
The Ferry company is harsh but us locals welcome you. It is an expensive place to live so prices will be a bit higher. An Aldi would be nice but guess what.. they enquired and the boat fees put them off :-/

£40 is good
I live on Island. The TT is basically a blank chequebook. But you hopefully get 2 weeks of motorcycle racing! 👍😀
Wish they held it in the summer 😆

Good to know mate 👍🏻

Yea it helps because I don’t drink or eat out etc. ferry for Manx is £170 this year so bit more expensive than TT which surprised me
The Ferry was bought by IOM taxpayers and we don't get a discount :-/
Lucky my dad live on the main course. We are riding from spain next year, its the ferry costs my main expenses
Yes ferry is expensive, will be worth it though 👍🏻

I use a thin balaclava sort of thing, no more bent ears, awesome
Good idea mate 👌
Same here, with big ears it's a must.
2012 TT cost me more for 18 minutes than your whole trip !!! The two weeks cost me 15k 😢 …… but memories last. Life time ❤️
15k fookin ell 😝
I live here….and spent more for just TT race week alone, £229 was a bargain to witness the greatest race in the world 👍👌🇮🇲😉🏆

any camp site facilities or just a field and sh*tting in the woods ?.
Yep showers cafe etc
