    Whatever happens from here on out i hope you (Microsoft) understand that the openness of this game is what made it flourish. When you put so much freedom into the hands of the community they will flourish with creativity. What lies just beyond the game itself is where its heart is. From texture packs to mods, mini games to servers, videos to livestreams, 99% of this game is what the community made with it. Continue to give us that freedom in the future and all will be well between us :-)

      Thank you xisumavoid for this nicely spoken comment which is passionate and touching, but still suspiciously critical of the situation. :)
      As much as I like to be convinced by what Phil Spencer said, the parable of the scorpion and the frog Luis Carvalho mentioned is true as well (look what MS did to Skype - ruin the whole idea of it: p2p communication). I hope Spencer meant what he said and that he has the ability - and competence within the company - to put it to practice.

      In all fairness Mojang could've gone on without Microsoft. They likely would've still sold just as well and we probably wouldn't have gotten the microtransaction version of the game. That being said you can never go wrong with Microsoft funding your game indefinitely.

    • @LuisCarvalho
      @LuisCarvalho 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It'll start slowly, maybe a couple new lines on the EULA. Nothing much. Then some updates only available in Windows, maybe even only on 8.1. Then the lawyers will get in the game... and... well we all know how it will go.
      Right now, I can't convince myself to login on a Microsoft controlled server, been playing offline.
      My account is early Alpha. From the time we were assured to get all updates forever. I'm curious to see how long that will last.
      I have no businness interest in Minecraft. None at all. If I did, I would be looking for another way to make a living. FAST.

    • @NoobixCube

      1. Platform restrictions
      2. Monthly subscriptions
      3. Pay to Win
      4. Paid DLC
      5. No modding

    Microsoft,
    I'll have no issues with this acquisition as long as you keep Minecraft as open as it has been (multi-platform, free and open modding/server hosting, f2p, no paid DLC, etc). However, if you go against this, while attempting to draw a profit, we'll find a better alternative.
    TL;DR Respect the community-- the very reason Minecraft succeeded. Cheers.

    _"listening to the feedback of the Minecraft community"_ *Important note regarding MINECRAFT VANILLA*:
    I'd strongly recommend not to make it a sole "majority of percentage of MC community wants to have this or that feature into MC Vanilla, so let's do it"-thing. I don't want to polarize here, but there are a few thousand players that play MC for 4 years or more, and although we are small in number, I feel, as we grew so long with MC Vanilla and what that means, we know fairly well than the "younger" majority of MC players what can be considered "Vanilla".
    So please, before you add anything into MC Vanilla, take into account what MC Vanilla really meant. Involve the developers and let them have the final say. They know best what can be considered "Vanilla", and what not.

    • @astrogirl1usa
      @astrogirl1usa 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I totally agree with you on this! I don't want 10-year olds, for example, dictating what will be 'Vanilla Minecraft', or in which direction Minecraft will go, as a game in general. Now, if only Microsoft will realize that 'popular opinion' isn't always the way to go. Thanks for the post Meri!

    • @LapisDemon
      @LapisDemon 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Astrogirl1usa I didn't want to phrase it that harsh, but yeah, that's basically it. You know I'm not judging people by their age so I wouldn't say that all young or new players are like that ("I'd like to have all features inside MC Vanilla") , but as they wouldn't know about the effects it would have or the origins of Minecraft etc., they wouldn't see anything bad in it.
      As long as we can still mod Minecraft, anyone can have anything they like inside MC anyways..
      But we really really need to be careful about what will be added to Minecraft Vanilla, always.

    • @astrogirl1usa
      @astrogirl1usa 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have raised 3 kids, so I know what 10 year-olds are like. lol I also know that if they were dictating what to put in the game; it wouldn't be 'vanilla' anymore. I love kids, but they do think differently from adults. Most children would not even think about whether something actually fits, or belongs in the game. That's just how it is,,,

    Now Minecraft is going to be Xbox exclusive and you're going to need Xbox Live Gold to play.

    Phil so the people who bot the game for Xbox 360/from day one should be able to download the game for free on Xbox one, can we make that happen?

  • @tunnelofbeees
    @tunnelofbeees 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just remember guys this is a software company which has some hardware, i like xbox one and its great all the exclusive games which wouldnt happen without microsofts support. hopefully this will lead to better things like a sequel which most likely will be exclusive but still the original was big for a reason.

    Why is everyone hating? He said it's still on all platforms. Also to the people who say Microsoft are not original and buy other companies, how do you think they got $80 billion? Of course they couldn't buy anything at the beginning

    Translation of what he actually says: "Minecraft has become a phenomenon that we don't really understand but which made shitloads of money...which we at Microsoft love! So we partnered up with these nerds, that we normally wouldn't even look at, to keep making sure that money keeps rolling into out pockets!"

    With Microsoft funding, the game will be able to push to new limits, so this is a good thing.

    its good that Microsoft have acquired Mojang/Minecraft. as they said in the video, they aren't removing the experience from other platforms, and they are going to be updating it on all platforms as well. Phil Spencer is a nice guy, he has the same motive that we all share, gaming.

  • @Skozzy
    @Skozzy 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mojang has always been a company very comfortable with their audience. You're talking to a bunch of assorted gamers sitting in front of screens, not men in suits. Stop standing at attention, stiffly, and reading a script. Talk to us like we're humans. Personally, I have a lot of hope for Microsoft and Minecraft, however you're presenting your company as an uptight business, which will hardly help your already negative reputation among the majority of Minecraft players. I hope that this message gets heards, whether from me or anywhere else.

    Calm down people, do you really think Microsoft spent 2.5 bi just to mess up a game? Minecraft has one of the biggest communities, and they know the backlash they'll get if they make any kind of DLC or subscription fees, chill out guys, Microsoft know what it's doing.

      they have a big enough budget as is, i mean 16 million copies sold, $30 each ? even if it was $1 each they would be filthy rich (they also said so themselves)
      So i think nothing good can come from this.
