    Thanks, fitted mine this this afternoon in under 2 hours thanks to this video.
    The obd port is a faff to reverse but did it after a bit of fiddling. Excellent video saved me getting someone to fit it 👍

  • @andregadellaa
    @andregadellaa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    You might want to revise the cabling around the A pillar. You have mounted it in front of the airbag. On the Volvo/Polestars you flick the plastic cover open and then pull the trim off. Then you can run it behind the airbag.

    • @andregadellaa
      @andregadellaa 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forgot to mention. There is a bolt behind the cover, undo that and pull - the trim then unclips.

      Would appreciate a bit more detail on this as I'm about to embark on my installation and was planning to do it tomorrow but now I'm worried about the airbag. Could you explain a bit more what you mean by "flick the plastic cover open" or that "bolt behind the cover" you've referred to please?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RogueDalek What he is referring to is when you look at the A Pillar you can see a plastic rectangle, you can pop this off with a small screwdriver, this shows a bolt that you can then remove and lift the A-Pillar cover off.
      Hope this helps.

    Once again I find myself commenting on one of your videos, on the same day! Very neat and tidy installation, and the Red paint choice on the Evora looks good. I wouldn't have the confidence to install myself, so I got my main dealer to instal in my car.

    • @SpectrumGeeks

      Thanks for watching and commenting Keith. Agree if not to confident with this stuff, safer to get someone else to lend a hand. Hopefully these videos help others to build some confidence though.

    Thanks for this video, helped a lot! Did you notice any car battery drain with the ODB installed? For me it looks like it is draining my car more than expected however the camera shuts off automatically after 20 minutes or so.

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not at all, but I have it in an EV so the main battery will top up the 12v if it starts to drain to much.

    i wonder why can't polestar 2 utilize the cameras it already has as dashcam and security cam when parked? just like tesla cam. it's strange with all the cameras in poiestar 2, we have to install extra dashcam?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They make them available in the future, but being a previous Tesla owner the cameras on cars are not as good as a dedicated dash cam.

    Hi thank for the video it helped me choose how to install, the only problem I have is that I think my ODB port in my polestar 2 (21 plate) goes to sleep after about 5hrs and must drop the power to the cameras, from outside the car there are no leds showing 🙈
    Does your work all the time overnight. Thanks

    Hi, great video. Question: where did you hide the excess wire for the rear cam? I have a bunch and don't know where to put it (it's on the shelf at the back right now). Thanks

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  ปีที่แล้ว

      I put it in the roof area at the back of the car before it feeds into the rear hatch lid.

    By the way, would you consider spraying you rear window with something like Rain-X to repel the water?

    • @SpectrumGeeks

      Yeah, once the weather picks up, I will be giving the car a mega detail and will rainx the windows, etc to help with run off, especially on the rear as no wiper.

    Thanks for the video, very handy. Sadly the Conecta cable you linked to in the comments did not work for me. Seems to have the wrong size plug adaptor to connect to the camera. Maybe Amazon has changed the product on that page? I purchased the Conecta X as a replacement and that connected and worked perfectly.

    Is there not a fuse box somewhere around the front side dash panel to piggy back a switched and constant supply power feed to the Blackvue Power magic box on the Polestar!

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there is a lower fuse box in the passenger footwell, but using the module to power via the OBD port is super easy.

    Did you fit the cable behind the airbag in the A-pillar or over it? If behind, did you have to remove the A pillar trim?

      Its just tucked in the trim crease, so no removal of the trim.

  • @aw6479

    Thanks for this. I used your guide to do something similar with a £10 cable for my old dashcam. Have you found there to be any issues with the ODB port? I am 90% sure that leaving the ODB Port switch on to allow “parking mode” means the car starts with no access to SIM. If I switch that off, the connectivity returns. Interested to know if you have found the same!

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not found this to be an issue, I have left the car in parking mode when shopping, came back LTE is working and streaming fine. SIM is very sporadic in the PS2 it seems, so could be coincidence?

    • @aw6479
      @aw6479 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SpectrumGeeks just to get back on this, it seems that it happens if the dashcam parking mode is left on for a period of time, say overnight, and not every time either. However, flicking the ODB switch off and on gets LTE started straight away, when any other solution (reset of infotainment etc) has no effect.
      Totally bizarre, and I wonder if anyone else can replicate.

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aw6479 Very odd. I left my parking mode on earlier in the week and only spotted when I went out today. Didn't seem to have any effect on mine. So very odd.

    Could you show a shot while sitting in front viewing the camera that is installed behind? I was thinking about installing it on the window on the right of the left and i think you wont be able to see it then. Also im thinking about installing the camera in front next to the middle thing as high up as you first mentioned.

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CBoone321 Yes totally. I wanted it in the middle and on the plastic housing for best vision and because I didn't want it on the glass. Rear view vision isnt brilliant out the back of the Polestar 2 anyway, but I don't find it particularly off putting. The only thing I am trying to decide if I want on or off is the white LED on the rear camera. Its great to know its working, but a little distracting at night. I might put a little black tape on it, so I cant still see the external one.
