Thank you so much for watching! If you like the vibe of the channel, would love you to Subscribe and hang out here more often! ALSO, CORRECTION! "Ships of Merior" was intended to be 1 book. The UK publishers split in two. The US did not. We will sort out how we'll approach it, but most likely read it as it was intended.
I like the quarterly TBR too! I'll be reading Midnight Tides in mid-March so we'll have to put together a chat if we both love it! I'm reading LPQ with John later this year, so I'm really looking forward to that!
I truly think you'll love LPQ. There are so many elements to it that I just believe you will appreciate as a sophisticated reader. MIDNIGHT TIDES! WE'RE SURFING THEM!
Love the video, I typically don’t make TBRs, as I’m a big mood reader. I have an idea of series I want to finish or start in the year, so I’ll say I want to continue the Senlin Ascends series with book 3, and want to do another buddy read with my friend who has moved very far away.
So much to look forward to! I am confident your selection for the Quilluminati is going to be a hit, Brian. I look forward to discussing it with you, John, and Mike, and I look forward to other conversations to come in 2025!
Great TBR plan Brian! Obviously we will be mirroring with Janny's WoLaS (as of this writing finished the Gallant and a quarter through CotM). Thank you for letting me know about the Ships of Merior book, I did not realize that it was two books and would have ended up reading the whole thing. haha. Glad to see you continue with LPQ. I'll be tackling Abraham's Dagger and Coin with Anitha later this year. - Cheers for now!
Thanks, Chris! I was WRONG about Merior. It's supposed to be the one book, but the UK made it into 2. So, we'll have to decide how we want to tackle it. Happy New Year!
I like the quarterly TBR format. Also, a lot of great reads slated for you. I’m going to be joining in on the Wars of Light and Shadow read along and looking forward to it!
Ha! Rick Ashley love it! 💗 Just finished Will of the Many 🤯 doing the Janny read along (reread) also hoping for Lightfall and Rebel Blade. leaving the ready open . Mood reader.
Awesome list! I too will be getting back into Malazan in 2025 with Midnight Tides. Cannot wait! I need to find time for Wars of Light and Shadow. So many book-tubers bring it up.
Look, I don't even now what I am reading next week, so major props for planning out a 3-month TBR lol. Sounds like you are setting yourself up to start the new year incredibly strong. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the next Hybrid Helix. And heck yes for LPQ. Happy reading!
I must say I'm envious of those Janny Wurts' Hardback ! Very difficult to find those in Europe... For my TBR, I've also got Curse of the Mistwraith (sadly in mass market paperback), so I might join you guys... The only real thing "set in stone" for Q1, it's Heretics of Dune and Chapter House Dune so I can finish Franck Herbert Dune's series...
Very cool that you are getting through Dune! Yeah, I'm extremely lucky for the hardbacks that Janny sent me last year. If not, I'd be on e-book. My eyes can't do mmpb :) Happy New Year too!
So many great books! Inspires me to join you and other booktubers in reading Janny Wurts! She's been an author i've been meaning to read for a while but i've been waiting for the right headspace as I've heard her books can be quite challenging. Hopefully any discussions you and other booktubers have will help offer me perspectives or insights i'd have missed. Cheers!
"Don't know what value there is in TBR videos"... 90% of booktubers (including me) catching strays 😂😂 great video as always and I relate a lot to your views on goals - my mid-term goals are to 1) analyze the ~2500 ultrasound scans I've done for my phd data collection so far to make my life a lot easier toward the end of the year, and 2) establish a regular writing habit where I'm working on it for at least 1 hour per week. Doesn't sound like much, but I want something realistic as a starting point. If all goes according to plan I should blow past that goal but we shall see how the plan works out lol
I couldn't wait for The audiobook So I read the physical copy Of this inevitable ruin and Oh my god it Oh my god it is amazing As usual it's chaos from cover to cover
Wonderful video! You have a great reading list, and I'm exciting to hear your thoughts in these books! I like the midyear goal idea, and I will put forth two goals! One is to finish Persona 5 Royal by end of Q1 and the other is read five books by end of Q1, which is definitely a challenge between a full time job and 1 year old at home haha. Tentatively those five books from my TBR will be Rise of Empire, Hier of Novron, Shogun, Valour, and Mort. Thanks Brian!
Thank you! I hope you love Shogun as much as me. And yeah, while you are working on Persona 5 Royal, I'll be over here trying to finish Act 3 of Baldur's Gate 3 :)
@BrianBell7 thanks! I'm looking forward to shogun, especially after hearing your thoughts on it! I'm also in Act 3 of BG3 but haven't touched the game since I became a father, since it's harder for me to play a game at my PC than on my switch, but I'm hoping to beat Act 3 for my Q2 goal!
New subscriber here. Enjoy Midnight Tides - it’s my second favourite of the Malazan books (the series that made me start my own channel this year!) but it has one of my favourite characters of all time - you’ll know the one when you come across him :) Also This Inevitable Ruin is an absolute blast!
I'm realizing I've been mixing up Senlin Ascends with Sword of Kaigen in my head forever. Looking forward to seeing what you think of it. And also I'm watching the Janny Wurts stuff with great interest, I'd love to get some more epic fantasy written by women. Currently on Sherwood Smith's Inda series and LOVING IT.
Ha! That's funny. I'll for sure discuss Senlin Ascends when I get to it. I'm only 5% into Curse of the Mistwraith, so far, and it's off to a strong start!
Looks like a lot of awesome reads in the future! I just started Wind and Truth last night, so honestly... That might be my next month or two lol. But I plan to read To Ride Hell's Chasm afterwards to give me a bit of a Sando-break. I would love to jump into The Wars of Light and Shadow, but I think I'll just have top catch up at some point.
@ yes! I’m so close to finishing the first draft of my novella! Maybe like, 3 more chapters! Then my midterm goal can be to finish the first edit of my novel.

I just finished my first Dennis Lehane novel and I’m pretty sure I’ll be devouring his entire bibliophile, hope you enjoy Mystic River. Also, looming is a good word for Curse of the Mistwraith, I’ve hit a rough patch in the story and I’m worried it’s not going to be for me which is sad since I loved The Gallant so much, be interesting to see what you think. Thx for sharing!💚
Excellent news about Dennis Lehane! I think when there are longer, denser books like Curse, it's entirely possible that some sections are not as impactful to the reader as others. I'll 100% keep you posted and I'm sure she'll finish that book strong!
Murder At Spindle Manor is also on my tbr, and I'm looking forward to continuing on with LPQ. Hopefully I can get to A Betrayal in Winter soon. Naturally, March can't come quick enough. It will be my first time following up with a discord readalong so it should be great fun!
Great books! I just started Gardens of the Moon a few days ago, and I have been really enjoying it! I’m hoping to read the Bool of the Fallen along with the Sun Eater series this year! Over the next two months, I also will read the Sunlit Man and finally get to Wind and Truth! Btw, I have read the first two books in Awaken Online! It has been really fun reading, and it is “simple” enough to sneak it portions when I have transitions throughout the day-thanks for the recommendation!

I've heard great things about that trilogy. It's on my TBR, but at least a year away. Wouldn't that be great to find an excellent new release?! I have my eyes open for them for all of us! Happy New Year!
Great list man! I’m reading Mistwraith and Journey thrice begun, and loving them both! Have you read the Matthew Corbett series by Robert McCammon? I’m on the first book and it’s absolutely captivating
I’ll be finishing Stormlight and continuing Malazan for sure. I’d like to finish Sean Bobby Kerr’s book as well. I was really enjoying it but got derailed by my Stormlight re-read. Look forward to all you guys thought on Curse of the Mistwraith. I really need to get into Janny Wurts.
Cool. I think you'll figure out good timing for yourself. I suspect Janny's books are similar in read-time to Malazan, but can't confirm quite yet until I get into Curse deeper.

I was screaming at you to include The Price of Spring since you started talking about feb tbr. There is no way you would be able to put it off after the end of "the War in Autumn"😂
"Midnight Tides" sounds like if The Beach Boys went through a dark and edgy phase. Everybody's gone surfin'...not all of them are comin' back. Looking forward to seeing what you think of Mistwraith! And I was wondering how we were going to do Ships of Merior, so nice to have that clarified.
So, I was incorrect about Ships of Merior. It's SUPPOSED to be one book. The UK publishers split it. We'll figure out how we will tackle it in a month or two :)

I had to do it.

I couldn't wait for The audiobook So I read the physical copy Of this inevitable ruin and Oh my god it Oh my god it is amazing As usual it's chaos from cover to cover
Stoked for you to read midnight tides. It competes on the daily as my top in the series upon reflection so far.
Nice! Between that and the Wars of Light & Shadow, I'm prepared for book hangover!

@ Happy New Year and many thanks Brian, you are much too kind! My lungs are like punching bags, but I am on the mend! ☺️
DCC Book 7 Audio is my most anticipated book of the year!
SAME!
It's all because of MARIANNE! Love it!
Thanks! My pleasure to help find a new Awaken Online reader! It's perfect between tougher stuff!
Hey Brian I just finished book 7 of dungeon crawler Carl a couple of days ago And I can tell you it is nonstop action from page 1 to the very end We're talking we're talking 700 pages Of drama Surprises I think you're gonna love it
I'm just sad I've now gotta wait for the next book😀
so excited to hear that. I knew it'd be great.
Wonderful reading plan for the next months. I also will start Janny Wurts Curse of the Mistwraith in Janny-uary. Here, each book is devided in 2 books. Before that I actually try to finish book 2 of the flat earth series by Tanith Lee. Midterm goals: Read more and lesser watching Movies/TV-Shows. Longterm goals: Finding a better job.
Those are all excellent goals! Thank you for sharing them here. and Happy New Year!!
SF recommendation. The Nothing Within By Andy Giesler-- Best Post Apocalyptic Amish setting I've come across. Was SPFBO semi finalist in spite of being SF.
Cool. Adding to TBR Mountain now! Thank you!
LPQ! I think you’re going to love Midnight Tides! I’m with you about quarterly TBRs. They feel more approachable than monthly ones. Enjoy!
Thanks, Johanna! I'm super excited for this lineup, as daunting as it appears!
I'm in the middle of The Prince of Nothing trilogy by R Scott Bakker, so I'm finishing that. After that, I want to get back to Moorcock, Banks and LeGuin. But most of all I want to find something awesome in the bookstore.
I've heard great things about that trilogy. It's on my TBR, but at least a year away. Wouldn't that be great to find an excellent new release?! I have my eyes open for them for all of us! Happy New Year!
@@BrianBell7 Yeah, if you're in the middle of Book of the Fallen, I'd give it some time.
Great list man! I’m reading Mistwraith and Journey thrice begun, and loving them both! Have you read the Matthew Corbett series by Robert McCammon? I’m on the first book and it’s absolutely captivating
Excellent! The only Robert McCammon I've read is "Swan Song." I'm sure I'll read the Matthew Corbett books at some point!
Primal Hunter is still an ongoing serial on Royal Road.
Kind of what I thought. I generally don’t love web serials but so far so good on this one. Thank you for the info!
Talking about chonkers, I am reading one of the longest fantasy novels ever written, Ash A Secret History by Mary Gentle. It is really good so far.
Nice! Happy New Year Jeroen!!
I’ve taken a break from primal hunter after book 6… started to get a bit too repetitive for me, while I enjoy the story, I don’t see much of character development like we had in the first few books… maybe will continue the series later in the year but doubtful at this point.
Always so many new ones I want to try!
I totally get that. I was thinking of doing the first 3, then jumping to a different one, then jumping back later.
I was screaming at you to include The Price of Spring since you started talking about feb tbr. There is no way you would be able to put it off after the end of "the War in Autumn"😂
haha, too funny!
As a Malazan fanatic, I'm still not really sure what the "Midnight Tides" are either 😅
gonna surf them!!
Did I miss Hunger of the Gods? That was a 5 star read for me! I think you read Shadow?
Probably do Hunger in April. Decided to finish LPQ first, mostly because the books are smaller.
Beach Boys dark phase. Love it!!
The midnight tides are the friends we had all along
Probably. At least the ones with wavy hair.
If you've got a reading slump...if no other book can help...and if you can find it...maybe you can read: The A-Tomb.
I love it when a TBR comes together.
