The biggest surprise of the year for me was discovering that I “won” a poll for “most likely to die in a D&D world.” I mean, given the competition . . . The second biggest surprise was that you actually liked The Worm Ouroboros. 😂 And hooray for Tanna, and long live the Quilluminati!
Oh man you’re about to hit a couple great Malazan books too, glad you’re all in on that series 💪 Can’t wait to try some of these out like Tanna the Tendersword!
I love happy surprises, and this was no exception! I’m thrilled that you’re enjoying Malazan so much! You have me intrigued about The Worm of Ourboros 😄
Y'know, of everyone I know, you might be the only person who would find it interesting. I don't think you'd LOVE it, but I think you'd like it from a more scholarly level. Yay Malazan!
Nothing beats the feeling of a book taking you totally by surprise! I love that you loved LPQ and Tanna so much, all the love for the hidden gems. And I hope your Malazan journey continues to be this amazing! Happy reading, Brian 🤩
Fun list as usual sir. I need to get back to Paitent Zero. The Pov shifts threw me off when i started it but am interested enough to give it another go.
I had only read DCC before then stumbled on your litrpg video and I’ve read over litrpg 50 books since… my biggest surprise was to find a new genre I’m enjoying so much!!
Your recommendation of Alex Verus definitely surprised me. As a huge Dresden fan, it was right up my alley. There are multiple other series you have suggested on my TBR pile, so there will undoubtedly be more in the future. And just want your intros get better and better!
Discovering DCC (and LitRPG in general) was an extremely pleasant surprise this year! Looking forward to trying out some of your LitRPG recommendations next year
I loved that DNF challenge you did Brian. I hope you don’t mind but I’ve debated borrowing that myself since I think it would be a really great reading exercise. But it also got me thinking, what’s a book that you DNF’d in the past?
Man you are slaying with these intros! Also have to thank you for the flip-the-coin idea, which led me to restart Malazan this year, which I'm also loving. I still have 7 more books, which hopefully I'll get through in 2025. My biggest surprise this year was Green Bone saga, because I had no intention of reading it, but it popped up on Kindle Unlimited so I gave it a try. Now it's one of my favorite series of all time.
I wasn't surprised to see this book at number one; it’s on another level! As I'm reading through Memories of Ice, I can really appreciate this series greatness. Also, Brian, have you considered making a video showcasing your top audiobooks? That would be awesome!
Great! I’m really looking forward to it! At least I know that one of the top three will definitely be Neil Hellegers-don’t ask me how I know that; I might have some insider info! 😅
not a big surprise, number 1 :D i am one book behind you and i intend to read the whole thing in 2025; but first, Farseer trilogy - i think i will also give a go to Long Price and i'll try some LitRPG, to see what is all about
I'm always surprised with some of my videos that do well and others that don't. I'm shocked that my "Chunky Books" video is not only my top viewed of the year but my second viewed video ever. And I totally threw it together lol Ya never know!
You might consider stealing a page from Daniel Greene, and put out a LitRPG news video at a set time every week - Bell's Bar serving up a shot and a beer, and all the LitRPG news. Doesn't have to be more than five minutes long. Contact litRPG authors to get their new releases, cover reveals, kickstarters, etc to promote. Maybe short interviews, maybe you briefly talk about a book or a series. You're the BookTube expert, after all. Also get the authors to feature your video series in their newsletters to build a viewership. Win-win.
That’s a great idea! I’ll give it some thought! I want to be a go-to for LitRPG readers without alienating the viewers who are here for fantasy & sci fi as well.
Hope you enjoy! Please leave a like and hit that subscribe button so we can hang out more!

Yes, yes, yes, and YES!
@@BrianBell7 And hooray for Malazan too!
@PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy Witness!
If it's any consolation Dr Philip, I didn't vote for you.
@ Thank you! 😊
So much great stuff here, I'm especially glad you started the Quilluminati and that you're loving and sharing your love for malazan!
Thanks, Jake! I'm really glad you like the reading group!

Keep me posted what you think! Thanks, Benghis, King of Khans!

@@BrianBell7 But you know me, brian! 👻 (it's on my 2025 list of books i want to get to with lord Dunsany and Baroness Orczy)
Great video Brian! loved the animations you had for the countdown.
thanks, Tom! DM me and I'll either share them with you or point you where I got them.
Nothing beats the feeling of a book taking you totally by surprise! I love that you loved LPQ and Tanna so much, all the love for the hidden gems. And I hope your Malazan journey continues to be this amazing! Happy reading, Brian 🤩
Thanks, Esmay! Can't wait for you to read Tanna too!
Love the intro. I am sooo happy you are enjoying LPQ. Looking forward to your overall thoughts.
Thanks! I’ve been trying to make them fun!!!
Loved the intro! First lol of the day when the NYE prompts came out. Mailed the books to you today!!
Thank you! That's so super nice!
Awesome intro to another high-energy video. My biggest surprise was reading over 90 books, expecting 50 at most.
Congrats! That's huge!!
Glad you had so many great surprises in 2024, Brian! I’d never heard of the Worm Oroboros before seeing it on your channel a while back.
Me neither!! Ha!
Fun list as usual sir. I need to get back to Paitent Zero. The Pov shifts threw me off when i started it but am interested enough to give it another go.
Go for it! I'm interested to see where it all goes!
I do certainly dig this quite original video. Excellent work Snacky Jason. Bravo
Ha! Thanks, Chance! It'll probably be at least another year before I feel like I know what I'm doing.
I had only read DCC before then stumbled on your litrpg video and I’ve read over litrpg 50 books since… my biggest surprise was to find a new genre I’m enjoying so much!!
Excellent!

thank you! the intros take me longer to think of than the video content :)
Super video 😀👍
Thank you very much, Stjepan!

I'm so glad to hear that! They can be a total blast and I'm happy you are here for the journey!
I’d love to read 3 and 4 of LPQ along with you next year!
lessssgoooooo!
I loved that DNF challenge you did Brian. I hope you don’t mind but I’ve debated borrowing that myself since I think it would be a really great reading exercise. But it also got me thinking, what’s a book that you DNF’d in the past?
Thanks! I didn't DNF anything this year! I might do another one but it would likely be in Feb or April. Go for it if you like!
Man you are slaying with these intros! Also have to thank you for the flip-the-coin idea, which led me to restart Malazan this year, which I'm also loving. One of my good surprises this year was finding your channel 😆🔥🔥
Thank you! I'm glad you are here!
Yay number 3 and Walken pauses!
Hahaha I figured you’d catch that
Fun video, Brian!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks, N.A.!
@ of course!
What a great reading year! Ordinary Grace was an all-timer for me.
For sure!
Such an epic intro 🎉
Glad you like!
I’m glad I could surprise you, bro. Hopefully I can keep knocking it out of the park for you.
Here’s to more surprises in 2025! Cheers 🍻
Can't wait! Rags needs all the eyes on him!

Yep! And I've done one similar that was completely average. No idea!!
We never can tell when the algorithm gods will bestow their grace on our videos!
The biggest positive surprise of my reading year was "In cold blood"by Truman Capote.
That's an author I really would like to get to in 2025!
Read that in 9th grade. Absolutely fantastic and I would highly recommend
I hope I can get back to Malazan this year 😳😬
I love it!
@BrianBell7 it's tricky on audio but I'm going to consult a character/place guide and go about it like it's a class I'm taking 🤪🤓

So many great picks! I love a positive surprise when it comes to books.
Me too!! We never know really going into them how they will hit us.
Wait…you have not read the Wheel of Time? That is my biggest surprise!
yes, I flipped a coin in 2021 and it came up Wheel of Time - so I read it in 4 months.
@ whew! Yes now I remember you are ok with a slog as it challenged you. I miss heard you in the video.
The only book I've DNF'd is American Psycho.
I'm not a DNF'r either. Only one book, "The Colour of Magic" - twice :)
🪱 is on the list 🙌🏻🤓🤪
