This is a common track for first wins. Piastri has been quick and tyre wear have improved quite a bit. If he is P1 and Lando isn't the one on P2, think he will get his first win here. But on race pace, Lando still better than him, but Piastri has been unlucky in quali. Imola he got punished for impeding a Haas and Austria his lap was deleted, but he was P3. His lap on Monaco almost got Leclerc, and he also shown on Austria's sprint that he is not afraid to overtake Lando. I hope for a Ferrari ocmeback to the front here, not a win, but if Piastri gets his first win, that would be great, as he probably is the one who shows most potential of a World Champion
Turns 2 and 3 are actually more efficient if you keep left on 2, because it puts you in a better angle for 3, which means you can take it flat without scrubbing speed or the tires. Over 70 laps, any trick you can do to preserve the left tires pays off.
Drive this track on the sim (not the f1 game, I’m talking about Assetto or rf2) and you will UNDERSTAND why the drivers love it so much and why the races that happen here are just GOOD.

I think Ferrari will be actually great here since there’s only one high speed turn. They are bringing the evo update spec so I think they will actually be competive in this track due to the insane downforce it produces
To set the record straight, Mercedes didn’t blunder any strategy . The team is not allowed to guide the driver into the pits for slick tires during the formation lap. You would expect a 7-time world champion would be able to realize that the track was bone dry, the rest of the grid figured that out. No need to sugar coat it
I predict a Ferrari surprise. Not anything like domination, but Ferrari slightly the fastest. Then McLaren, and Red Bull tie, then Mercedes. These 4 teams will be *very* close.

My predictions: (1) McLaren should win the Hungarian Grand Prix because they probably have the best F1 car, but they don't have the best pit wall, so it will be a close fight with Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing. (2) I don't buy into "the RB20 will struggle because the Hungaroring has a lot of curbs. During the Canadian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen was complaining about the curbs while he was setting the fastest laps. (3) I expect Ferrari to be very strong at the Hungarian Grand Prix with the high downforce upgrade they introduced a few races ago. There aren't a lot of high-speed corners, so Ferrari will not suffer with bouncing. If the Hungaroring is "Monaco without the walls," LeClerc won Monaco. (4) According to Andrew Shoval, Mercedes is still suffering from overheating their rear tyres, so I expect Mercedes to struggle in the high temperatures during the Hungarian Grand Prix. Think Austria, where George Russell was 16 seconds behind Lando Norris and Max Verstappen.
I think if the heat is as bad as they’re predicting and a 3 stopper becomes the option strategy I think OP81 with be in the top 3, similar to Qatar last year, 4 stints more or less full tilt every stint, less tyre saving.
With the softest compound, the weather and a difficult to overtake on track - it feels like the driver that is able to drive the slowest will win. I also have my questions about how Lewis will do. He still hasn't shown that he got on top of things during a normal weekend; it makes me wonder how much correlation there is between the performance we saw at Silverstone and what we get in the future on normal tracks.
One of the most amazing things about F1 is that, during any season, we never know what the end of the seasons results will be .......e.g. ....... 54K!!! Would love to go to the Hungarian GP one day! If Ferrari's update doesnt work, how fast/slow would they be if they just went back to the spec that was doing so well at the start of the season?
Redbull has been unstoppable in the heat. Mercedes down the field in the heat, Maclaren if they can get their strategy may be hard to beat. What Ferrari team will show up?
Very curious to see what Merc will do this weekend. Don't forget that that car has been much slower with warmer temperatures. If they indeed are on the pace this weekend it for sure shows that they got on top of their car.
Thank you once again for the great preview 👍 There is nothing to add really, you summed it up very well. Red Bull's upgrade will define, whether we get a championship fight (constructor's) this season or not. It will be crucial for them, because they need Pérez to take at least some points off their rivals. Depending on how well their upgrade works, Max could even win this race. I wouldn't bet against it tbh. I also believe Ferrari will be back where they were at the Spanish GP. There are only two high speed corners here (T4 & 11) and lots of medium speed ones, so their floor should work pretty well. Spa is going to get a lot trickier for them though. Off topic: May I ask you why you used the old track map (pre-2003) for the preview? 😅The old one was really something special - you either loved it or hated it. It was horrible for racing (T1 in particular), because it lacked a big braking zone. However, it was very challenging: The T11 chicane was very difficult to get right, because you had no margin for error (due to the high kerb on corner exit).
I think Mercedes will struggle based on the fact that in the current regs they almost always struggled when the air and track temps were higher. Surprised that there was no mention of it in the video.
Massa is alive but I feel like that accident changed him and his performance... He wasn't the same after that.

54K!!! Would love to go to the Hungarian GP one day! If Ferrari's update doesnt work, how fast/slow would they be if they just went back to the spec that was doing so well at the start of the season?
Warm temps and high downforce might help Ferrari move closer to the front? Very excited for this one, the win is properly up for grabs now.
It will help them forsure
Temps look mega hot too. First real test for cooling in Europe
I LOVE hungaroring, i always drive it in sim races
I HOPE LANDO IS A BIT MORE GRACIOUS THAN HE HAS BEEN OF LATE. WIN OR LOSE
I can understand he’s under stress now
Hope McLaren bring their A game here because they need to work on not only performance but communication and strategy so I wish Lando good luck 🤞🏼😊😢
The Mansell overtake is still extraordinary
Nice video! I've always wondered where those GP previews like in 2:55 are posted, where do you find those posters?
Usually I get them from Albertfabrega on X
I would love to see what Mclaren can achieve when they don't mess up the strategies.
This channel is becoming inevitable now! Thanks for your insights!
❤️❤️❤️
No way, Charles is coming back for the win!
I would never expect Max to not be the fastest.
I love the thumbnail 🔥
❤️❤️
Redbull has been unstoppable in the heat. Mercedes down the field in the heat, Maclaren if they can get their strategy may be hard to beat. What Ferrari team will show up?
Very curious to see what Merc will do this weekend. Don't forget that that car has been much slower with warmer temperatures. If they indeed are on the pace this weekend it for sure shows that they got on top of their car.
I think Mercedes are back regardless of the temperature
Thank you once again for the great preview 👍
There is nothing to add really, you summed it up very well.
Love the F123 addition to shoe the corners!!
praying for rain. lewis could make it 9 at hungaroring if it does. insane
Awesome work and thank you.
McLaren and Norris go for the win at Hungary grand prix.Mercedes challenge the McLaren for the win or for podium.
I think Mercedes will struggle based on the fact that in the current regs they almost always struggled when the air and track temps were higher. Surprised that there was no mention of it in the video.
