This whole situation is oddly similar to when Lewis announced his decision to join Mercedes in 2012 for 2013, after he made that decision around Singapore the following races mclaren show more pace in the season so much so that they won the final 2 races of 2012, while Mercedes were not really competing for podiums nevermind race wins. The following season in 2013 however, we know that mclaren took a step back while Mercedes looked much better even though the season didn't reflect that thanks to Vettel and Red Bull's dominance and then in 2014 Lewis and Mercedes came out the gates all guns a blazing and the rest is history. Who is to say we are seeing a repeat of that same trend now

      - Lewis probably knows what Ferrari actually promise for next regulations that it's only a secret between him and Ferrari that can make his team change success history repeat again.
      - Lewis is a hella smart fella to know the long term game

Lewis going to Ferrari is a romantic move, even if he doesn’t win a championship, he can retire knowing he was at one point in time a Ferrari driver.
The appeal of Ferrari transcends logic, they haven’t won anything since 2008, but the red car, the brand, the iconic nature and association with F1 will always be a pull for drivers.
It also doesn’t hurt that reportedly he may be making $100m/yr (inclusive of performance bonuses). So that would be the icing on the top.

I think that story of Schumacher retiring was a bit different from how you told it.
As far as I can recall it from others who reported about it, Michael was actually intrigued to battle it out with Kimi in the same team, but decided he had nothing left to prove and retired instead, some also say he decided not to renew his contract because he didn't want Massa to lose his seat at Ferrari and because he also knew his key allies Jean Todt and Ross Brawn were on the brink of leaving Ferrari too.
Interestingly, Michael supposedly didn't plan to announce his retirement until after the title was decided to fully focus on the ongoing season, but then Ferrari president Luca di Montezemelo decided to announce the driver line-up for 2007 on the 2006 Italian Grand Prix, effectively torpedoing Micheal's plan.

The mistakes that he's made are because he's pushing the car to it's absolute limit to try make something happen, when realistically they're not a top team at the minute. I personal think it will be similar to the Hamilton/Russell partnership, where Russell out qualifies LH, but LH is a better and more consistent race drive. Remember that Canada, the very next race, Ferrari was so bad that not only Sainz and Leclerc got out in Q2, Sainz spun and crash out, Leclerc had severe engine problems and the hards on the wet strategy finally killed his race.
I also find intriguing that Leclerc spinning in FP2 suddenly makes him the most error-prone in the grid and not-worthy of Ferrari, but Sainz crashing out in Canada by his own and taking Albon out isn't talked about at all.

Fresh starts can be positively invigorating for both the team and driver alike since long term relationships seeing the same faces over and over again can turn stale and sometimes toxic especially if the results turn from regular winners to rare winners. This new invigoration and driver/team partnership can turn sour quickly too obviously if the new car and driver just don't gel and the results are just as unimpressive or even worse.
This move is very interesting though, and exciting too. This is the first non-Merc team for the now veteran Lewis. By all accounts things are very different at Ferrari that might be seen negatively. I've felt Lewis has a lot of very Schumacher-like qualities about him that of course worked so very well at Ferrari. However, Ferrari was very different back then with different people., but Lewis has often masterminded wins through superior strategy and race craft at Mercedes against arguably superior cars back when Vettel in his Ferrari appeared to be the superior package on race day at different points of the season, yet Lewis and his race strategists would mostly out-fox Vettel and Ferrari simply making the right calls at the right time while Vettel and Ferrari didn't or worse, made the wrong calls and the worst possible moments.
So if Lewis and I assume his closest engineers and race strategists can apply that race craft at Ferrari and if Ferrari are accepting of these small changes on race day, I can see how Lewis and Ferrari would be a very very strong package.

Moving to Ferrari is a great idea because if he win a championship in 3 different teams, I might be wrong be he will be the only one in history to do so. Also Ferrari has all the resources to build a competitive car. How fast is the question. Go Lewis and have fun in the only real F1 team.

Please do feel at liberty (pun absolutely intended), to interpret another performance of a circus bullying attempt, by 'Manic Max Kasekopf' Verstappen, who dangerously 'dive bombed', (torpedo-style) into 'Sir LionHeart' Hamilton's front, right tyre as:

This humble follower of F1 since the glory days of the immortal Jim Clark jr., (cut off in his prime) and theo sadly now peacefully passed on, nonagenarian Sir Stirling Moss, (the greatest British racing driver never to win an F1 Grand Prix World Championship); is nose-wrinkling concerned, that The Legendary Sir Lewis Hamilton, The World's First Ever & To Date, The Only F1 GP 'CENTURION' is accorded the due respect awarded to one of this era's greatest racers on The Grid.

Ferrari sell supercars internationally, at USD $Million a pop or more, so they are well able to afford his popular international brand.
He has "still got that magic" as 2024 British Grand Prix win and Podium for his 200th at 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix conclusively proved. (You're only as good as your last winning streak in this motorracing universe.)
Especially now, he is excitingly contracted as a collaborating fashion designer, for fabulously famous haute courture house, Dior!
The Lion Heart Hamilton, as sadly passed on mentors Sir Stirling Moss and the 3×F1 GP WDC TITLE WINNER Austrian Ace, Niki Lauda, recognised, that:
"There may well be some very talented racing drivers on The Grid, yet few are dedicated 'racers'; Lewis is a racer!"
No prizes for guessing, that after chasing his signature for 3 years, because as Chairman of Ferrari, John Elkkan knew the insides and outsides of The Dark Knight's commerial where-with-all. . . success finally loomed large.
My money's on even greater moments to come, as 'The Black Prince' has steadfastly withstood all the adversity that's been thrown at him for 2 and half years; the misadventure of his dozen years of consistent World Championship wins at Mercedes AMG and he is able at last, to yet again take the fight to 'The Flying Banshee Dutchman' and not obliged to "feel sorry for himself."
Once again he has everything to prove and
    "FERRARI RED'S THE COLOUR,
    GRAND PRIX RACIN'S THE GAME
    WHEN YOU HEAR ME 'HOLLER'
YOU'LL KNOW WINNING IS MY AiM!"
    Ha! Ha! Ha!😂
(After a short DH Lawrence poem)
I never saw a Wild Thing
    Feel sorry for itself;
    A tiny fledgling
    Will plummet
    Off a bare bough
    In deep mid-winter,
    Frozen dead; starving
    From desperate hunger,
    Without ever feeling sorry for itself;
I never saw a Wild Thing
    Feel sorry for itself.

Leclerc has been shocking since 2022 despite got car to challenge Red Bull. I mean wtf Leclerc thinking when comes to strategy call and I seen this far too often from Leclerc. What's even worse is Ferrari's car development since 2022 has lost direction due to Leclerc which Lewis can provide to any team he goes to
