man, you guys are just total rock stars...between the jet lag, travel, tough course...to STILL get a PB? that is nuts. huge congrats to both of you, what an effort 🔥
One NY in 1999. The crowd noise was really draining and I agree with you about the last part through Central Park being endless. And so hilly on tired legs!
I would take you up on the training plan but I broke my foot 2 weeks ago, so no spring Eugene Marathon. I am hoping for the fall Portland Marathon. Your NYC marathon times are both impressive - I've run that and its deceptively hilly. You really earned that burger.
My husband was randomly watching your video and realized he is in your video! He was right behind you for a good chunk of the race. You can also see him a little ahead of you in the Bronx section on the bridge. (His name is Moncef Attia). Congrats on your PB! That’s awesome!!
NYC is a tough marathon (that's the NYC way -"if you can make it there...".) so be very proud. This is my home marathon (I live right near the finish line). Fortunately, Chicago was my goal race and NYC was my "fun" race. I too, am doing Boston so look forward to training along.
I ran my first marathon on Sunday. I blew up in the last 10k and had to walk up a lot of the hills but I got the course done. Just means I need to run another in the future. NYC was so fun that I will look forward to it. Hard to imagine a better race experience anywhere.
Congrats! Amazing results. You're an inspiration for so many people. I'm a total newbie and also in my forties, just did my first 3 parkruns recently. I enjoyed it so much so now I'm flirting with the idea of running a marathon in April. It escalates quite fast :D
I came across your channel several weeks ago and have really gained some valuable information as I watch your video's. I began my health journey/complete lifestyle change about 2 years ago after some serious health issues. I've since dropped about 200 pounds and took up running about 10 months ago. I've done several 5ks, 10ks, and did my first half marathon last month. I entered into the lottery to run the Chicago marathon next year. If I don't get selected for that one I intend to run our local marathon here in Columbus. While my times are no where yours its truly inspiring to watch you guys run. Congrats on the race and your PB.
Congratulations to you both! You two are amazing! That jet lag must have been something! I was able to catch Mary on video just shortly after halfway, in Queens. So focused! PBS all around 🎉
Man. You are rockstars. And this video is DA BOMMB❤❤❤❤ I was following you on the app. I actually cheered but missed you guys, ypu were so fast I wasn't in position yet. Congratulations
Thank you for sharing the reality of how life can change up training plans and how to muddle through it. Best of luck in Valencia, I know you'll do great! We're all cheering for you!
Thank you Ben and Mary for keeping us inspired! I truly enjoy watching your videos. Please know you two are making a difference in many people’s lives across the world. Congratulations on your latest race and please keep the videos coming!!
Congratulations to both of you. Another great video. I ran my first marathon in Dublin last week and had a similar experience. Everything was going to plan up to 33km, and then the legs started to go. Heart rate and breathing were fine, just the legs. Had to drop the pace by 30 seconds per km in order to finish reasonably comfortably. Thank you both for getting me through my first marathon, aged 56. I have been looking at all your videos over the last 6 months and you both inspire me
Great video Ben! I've only started running this year in my fifties but you’ve inspired me to aim for the Sydney, Australia marathon towards the end of next year!
Love it Ben! Well done for filming so that we could come along with you for the ride. I warn you now, Boston is a very challenging course too. Get ready for rolling hills all the way and some pretty hefty hills from 17-21 miles. I have no doubt you and Mary will smash it though. Shake Shack fully deserved 😊😊😊
I would've been exhausted from that kinda traveling! You two rock, and the marathon looked like such a cool experience - as a European I'm definitely jealous of the American cheering/hype culture for races!
Congrats! I followed both of you race day and was cheering for you on the app, and I've joined the waitlist - I'm running my first marathon in London in 2024 (I'm from Canada)!
wow , amazing effort well done , all those flights , logistics , getting to the start line then running a marathon with the go pro for a PB!! , brilliant well done , you both deserve to super proud of yourselves , brilliant 👍👍👍, your channel is fantastic and very motivating , thank you
Congratulations Ben and Mary! You’re superstars, and I love your videos. Sometimes I put them on while I run, so it feels like I’m hanging out with you two. 😂 Your tips and positivity have helped me to cross into trail ultras, and to shift my mental approach to running. I now see it as my forever sport, and have embraced the long arc of self improvement. “This Messy Happy” is my zen. Thank you both for everything you do.
Congrats on the PB, all the videos I watch say how hard this course is and you did it after that journey there as well, amazing !!! Go Mary too, I'd never make a 3:23 on a flat course never mind NYC!!
Congrats! I do long air travels from Asia to North America often and I know that takes a toll on my body & I take days to recover, to be able to finish a sub 3 marathon after travelling for that long is IMPRESSIVE! Great job man! Speaks to the dedication and passion you have for running.
Congratulations Ben and Mary. So pleased for you both, you certainly put the work in for those pb's and you've reaped the rewards. Love NYC, luckily enough to have visited it twice. Looking forward to Mary's videon and her experience tomorrow.
Awesome results, congrats to you both!! I was hoping I might see you at the finish or something to say hello. What an amazing atmosphere it was…such a buzz! Was my first marathon and I finished in 3.19. Have been living in NYC for a long time and always wanted to do this…truly a dream come true.
man, you guys are just total rock stars...between the jet lag, travel, tough course...to STILL get a PB? that is nuts. huge congrats to both of you, what an effort 🔥
It is really balls they achieved it
Now I wonder how fast he could have bin without those issues.
Spotted @BillyYang in the back at 8:00 - congrats to all you heroes! 🎉👍
My two favourite people smashing NYC ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
NY is hard, the fact that you PB’d is amazing!!

"The two videos have come together" me waiting to see Mary and only seeing her at the end 😂
Congratulations to both of you 👏
Love it. Good job! The travel would have 100% taken the 'freshness away'. Chin up Pb is a Pb!

Crazy is not the word I’d use…That travel itinerary AND a marathon is insane!!! Great job getting it done!
Bridges by name and bridges on the day!
Unbelievable, such strength!
