BabyRage I have breakouts, scarring and redness on my chin and cheeks. I wouldn't say I cake my face. The only make up I use everyday is foundation and eyeliner, and tinted lip balm. I would love clear skin so that I don't have to wear makeup, just wear sunscreen, but where I work, we have to look presentable. I feel my bare face with pimples and redness makes me look less "professional".

I just say this BC we all have our flaws and imperfections...but you'd be surprised how you see them more than anyone else...and even so called "pretty" people, as Beyonce sang ;P hurt, too, and have insecurities too. I've been told I'm pretty and people have focused on that aspect of my whole person quite a bit. So I've felt pressure to live up to my role so to speak and have spent so much of my life trying to be that perfect image I saw since I was a little girl in magazines, one that doesn't actually exist in real life. So I do appreciate the no makeup movement, BC of cost, time, and needing to give my broken out skin a break, I've had to go without makeup and I'm still very uncomfortable with that but, I have noticed I've gotten so many kind compliments from people when I've gone bare that really helped my self esteem, which I do struggle with. Those people didn't notice how red my whole chin tends to be 😝 I felt like they saw my whole person instead and their comment meant more than if I had been covering up, BC I would've felt like, well, you probably wouldn't say that if you saw me without makeup. So I was kind of pleasantly surprised and had some faith restored, I had been feeling like I had to hide but really either no one cares too much, or they overlook it and tend to focus on your positive features. I have really, REALLY bad redness and breakout on my chin not from acne but from my OCD, dermatillomania. It's a skin focused repetitive /body focused/ slightly dysmorphic disorder that doesn't really have a cure and is truly disabling. Unfortunately people associate picking behavior with hard drugs- so that's an unfortunate shameful stigma and wrong inaccurate judgment some folks like me face. So when it's really bad, I truly do rely on and must have some makeup on hand and can not actually function without it. Another reason why if I'm actually having a decent skin day, I want to show it off for myself. Also, sometimes running out or not having the makeup makes me more committed to NOT pick BC I know I CANT cover it back up without help. :P it's all very weird I know I digress a lot sorry but my point is, I feel VERY dependent on makeup, yet, by necessity sometimes I've had to survive without, and despite perhaps having cause for people to pick on me more than I pick on myself already, most people don't. Those that do, that laugh as they pass by or make some mean joke to their group of friends, about a complete stranger, well, it does hurt, but that's obviously a small minded, low way to be and lacks compassion- so why care about or respect those haters? It sucks and doesn't feel good, but it passes. It's more so the weird behavior that people don't understand that makes them uncomfortable more so than my blemishes. Try telling that to some of us with inflamed pimples, discolored spots from acne scars, hyper pigmentation from acne..... honestly if you haven't experienced at least moderate acne, I don't want to hear about you going natural and makeup free. It's really not that hard for you, considering your genetics have graced you with decent skin. Women who experience the aforementioned issues use makeup to cover what is not meant to be there and to look like what we should if we didn't have acne.

It's a beautiful thing not to wear make up, but if my skin could just give me a break rather than a breakout that would be great :-).

And yes, anyone with eyes can spot makeup in nearly all of these "makeup free" shoots. Often they're wearing a light base, cheek/lip stain, and subtle mascara or even falsies, sometimes they even have their brows filled in. People are just dumb and have been fooled by years of heavy makeup and photoshopping that they think that is what no makeup actually looks like.
