I heard rumors about a movie that could focus on Quorra (being the last ISO) in the real world. I guess you could say goodbye to the lightful universe of The Grid but would still something I guess... Anyways, rumors.
I work at a hotel, used to be at the front desk. David Levy (concept artist for TRON Legacy) stayed with us for an art conference. When I asked him about a sequel, he said there was nothing official, but off the record, he was already being asked for more concept art. That was about four years ago, though, so I'm guessing they decided not to pursue it. :( That aside, this is an excellent mix, I love it!
I saw this movie in the cinema and immediatley knew it "This is fucking awesome and unique.... so i will have to wait 20+ years again for a new Tron movie..." it is a shame how many good/great movies don't get a follow up. :(
All things TRON have been completely frozen by Disney. Hell, even the recent anime was just fantastic. Season one ended on a huge cliffhanger. Then, (without explanation), Disney refused to fund TRON further.
@@Joel.Invictus Disney always underestimated Tron, and sadly to this day. Properly marketed it could have been one of the Franchise greats. Sadly it is more of a Cult Great. Either way I am proud to say that even used to ride the People Move just to see the Tron part.
Tron is too forward thinking for Disney now. Disney you used to be cutting edge. Tron spoke about AI and our parallel to a computer simulation well before the Matrix. Disney is into dumb you down TV now.
I agree I’m 43 and pray I’ll be around for the next one, sad my father wasn’t when Legacy came out he passed in 07 , he loved the first one , he’d loved Legacy... I pray Disney sells the franchise to someone who actually wants to do something with it!!! All we can do is hope programs!!!
With Marvel and Star Wars, Disney feels as though they don't have to do anything with Tron from a movie standpoint. It's a shame, really. There's some great stories that could be told within the universe. I agree that they should sell the rights to another company that could do something great with it.
Disney wants to do stuff with it just right now stuff is in limbo no script has been good enough they had actors on set ready to film and they shut it down because of script issues and other production problems this happened a few times you need good writers to make an awesome movie
What Jeff Bridges describes is the sort of imagination and creativity I miss from things like movies and video games nowadays. Such a simple concept can look amazing when executed right.
Whilst not my favorite movie of all time, it is certainly my all time favorite Disney movie. So sad that we won't get a third movie, a sequel to this....T:L was so open ended. However, it's soundtrack is certainly my all time favorite....just bumping out The Hunt for Red October by the late, great Basil Poleduris. The theme is so evocative of cyber-superhero....my favorite track is the End titles.
ONE MILLION VIEWS LATER: I love how after all these years TRON fans are gathering together, let's hope the sequel we are waiting for will be as good as the first two films :)
As a kid, I marveled at the Tron movies. Especially Tron: Legacy. I remember dreaming that one day, I too would venture the grid and fight in the disk wars alongside Tron. Sadly, I had to wake up so I had to snap back to reality.
Watched this movie when i was in middle school back in 2010 its been 14 years but i still get goosebumps listening to the soundtracks just takes you in a different world.
I'm glad that Daft Punk was chosen to make the sound tracks for this movie. The most underrated thing I've seen and watched. When I first watched this movie at the cinema, I was absolutely blown away, it was unlike any CGI I've ever seen. The lighting, graphics, it was all just so futuristic for its time. I cant wait for the new Tron movie in 2025.

In the original, he was basically a god to the programs, and could manipulate the Grid to do things like preventing a program from derezzing, or redirecting a sail-ship's energy beam... he doesn't have power like that in the "sequel".

It might’ve been part of the fact that Kevin couldn’t use his powers due to wanting to avoid detection or because he’s older or maybe because he’s losing control due to Clu’s continued influence.
@@KizaruB The fact that Flynn wanted to avoid detection is brought up in the movie itself: other than that, those are still assumptions. The fact that he was able to defeat CLU so easily indicates that CLU's influence on the grid didn't reduce his powers - and Sam Flynn should have such abilities too, being a User. Keven could easily let him in on how to use them. My guess is the writer didn't want to deal with User powers and just left them out of the script.

I would’ve preferred to see Sam with powers, but it unfortunately didn’t happen. If I give the writers the benefit of the doubt, some of the issues could be theoretically justified, even if weakly. Kevin said he tried to defeat Clu, but it didn’t work. Clu was very powerful, and only gained more from Kevin’s resistance. However, he knows there is a way to defeat Clu. Quorra even said “he could but it would require reintegration”. That’s the reason he doesn’t. When he reintegrates, he seemingly destroys most of the Grid in a giant explosion. Kevin knows that if he reintegrated with Clu, he’d destroy the ISOs, who still hadn’t been completely purged at that point. His whole life’s work would be destroyed and forgotten, and he’d also die in the process, which probably isn’t what he wants. He only decides to reintegrate when he realizes there is no other way to prevent Clu from getting to the portal and from harming Quorra and Sam. Clu also put himself in a vulnerable position. He had his back facing Kevin and his guard was down, so this gave Kevin the chance he could never get to subdue Clu. On the topic of Sam, I think this potentially might’ve been a conscious decision to make Sam more human compared to Quorra, Clu, and Kevin. Maybe they wanted him to be the human character in the story, as opposed to Quorra the gifted “child”, Kevin the godly sage, and Clu the autocratic dictator. However, that’s just me giving the writers the benefit of the doubt. The most likely answer is what you suggested, and they just didn’t think about it.
This means a lot to me, a lot. I was living in Japan, and my best friend and I saw the film at the iMax theatre. We haven't seen each other for 10 years now, and it hurts. This tune takes me back:)

I still come to this classic makes me feel it’s like the generation I grew with 80s we have grown up and we’re slowly passing to the kids of the future and we’re leaving them as we live our lives till we ride off to the next journey our grandparents took before
I think my appreciation for the film is mainly just for its art and music As an actual narrative, it’s not that deep, even tho it has traces of depth at first
Goosebumps for the soundtrack, still love this film. The concept is simple, the visual are amazing, acting is superb, the emotion conveyed in the stark world is beyond depth, the music is sublime. Very underrated, Jeff Bridges is at his best as the old man. Just a fab film...❤

It’s not a ‘take’ - it’s a direct sequel. It’s the same Flynn and Tron from the first film, just thirty years and some major hardware upgrades later.
