When kratos told Atreus to train after fenrir died, he was just trying to help distract him from the pain. It’s the same as when he took him hunting after Faye’s funeral. He’s doing his best to help Atreus through his grief in the only way he knows how.
@@benspangler6661Agreed, I genuinely wonder if Kratos would have agreed if Odin simply said "Let's both forget about it all" rather than wording it in bargaining terms and mentioning Freya
he said no because he doesn't want Odin to harm Freya but also because a choice from the gods is as useless as the gods themselves. he's learnt his lesson about making deals with Gods.
@@pranav1256 I haven't played in years but I believe that's where I got the part about Freya. the other part is just because it's a fun quote and it fits, it has no real relevancy in Ragnarok.
That Fenrir scene hits double as hard if you've ever had to put your dog down with injections because of old age or diseases. I did with my dog, I held her in my lap as she slowly faded away and died right there in my arms. I think I've never cried as much as I did back then and this scene makes me remember that and I cry every time.
"Cut the feed. You guys have no idea what difficulty I'm going to pick." 😂😂 Tell me you picked Give Me Balance without telling me you picked Give Me Balance. 😂
Genuinely can't wait to see your reaction to Ragnarok, I started watching people's reactions once I got the game for Christmas and i decided to watch ur gameplay of the older games since I can't get them on on my PS5 😭
Don't worry. I am a grown up man and even i shed tear when Fenris passed away. And the time jump is huge. A thousand years has passed between events of GOW 3 and GOW 2018. Original God Of War trilogy takes place around 800-400 BC. and newer games take place around 500-700 AD. I think its fair to say thats more than enough time to get over your past and finding new life.
Despite what trolls you might have ever had to deal with, there is no shame in crying at the death of Fenrir. I have often witnessed this scene ever since the game came out over two years ago and it still moves me to tears when it plays. It hits double for me... when the game released it was a good couple of weeks after my beloved Hannah Rey Lightfury had crossed the rainbow bridge. She lived a good 15 years, always had a heart like a kitten, always loved her papa. We were a Clan of Two; this is the way. And when we said our goodbyes, i had her in my arms; it was a shot for shot of Atreus and Fenrir. I know you will be in for quite a ride with this game. I'm glad you finally made your way to it. Enjoy.
That Odin intro is such a good cutscene, the god father mob boss angle is not what most people expected to see. But it's a great contrast compered to Zeus.
This game is so insanely well written, directed and crafted that this is one I highly recommend 100% completing. Every single second, minute, mission and content is chef's kiss. I can't wait for you to experience more of it and share it with us.

“How is this the same Kratos????” To be honest, I imagine him being very much like this as he was dragging himself away from Olympus. He never _wanted_ to be the way he was in the originals. You could tell he _hated_ himself the entire time. He was driven forward by hatred, revenge, blinding rage and pain. When _that much_ of all those things consumed you for so long, and the object of your fury is finally dead…imagine how drained you’d be. How totally empty. Then, Kratos would also see it as his opportunity to reinvent himself, to become someone closer to what he’d _want_ to be. I can imagine him taking advantage of that opportunity immediately. When his rage stopped consuming him, he was able to see how your rage can consume you. That, and other things he does across _both_ games, really show you how the lessons of his past inform the person he is now. Everything he says, everything he does, you can link it all back to a specific event in the original six…if not all of it. The only reason they feel disconnected to you, I think, is because you may not remember the specific things in 2018 that he did and said that make those connections, having played it before the classics. I got really annoyed when people went off about this game being "woke", and Kratos being ruined. Like it makes sense Kratos wouldn't keep living that life, in fact, that's how the game starts technically! Kratos was this war lord who hungered for death and violence, but then when he kills his own family he realises how lost he was and how wrong he was, the first game is already him trying to break free and change from the person he was. As you said, he then goes down a dark path and loses himself more. But once he does what he wanted to do, once he gets his revenge and there is nothing left for him, he moves on and leaves Why would he continue to be that same person? A person he already didn't want to be, and has no reason to be angry more? His family is dead, everyone who caused him to suffer is dead, he no longer lives in the same place, he's no longer the god of war. Instead he has a new family, in a new land, is a dad again, and many, many, many years have passed since we left off with him. It doesn't make sense for him to have the exact same personality and mentality, humans aren't like that in real life, so Kratos shouldn't be either I love Kratos in these new games, in the first ones he can just feel like a video game character, but here he is much more human!

It's my birthday Friday as well so this is a nice surprise, something to look forward to while I'll be on my night shift at work 🥳
one of the benefits of being an old GOW fan was the change in Kratos' in GOW2018 feels believable because it felt like a long time has passed since we last saw him. and in the lore, it was a very long time before meeting and settling down with Faye.
I have been watching you since the very beginning, and I love your videos. Just a little suggestion- Try not to talk whenever any character in the game is talking or having a conversation; coz you missed a lot of references of the older GOW games in the beginning part of this video. Same goes for cutscenes. Other than that, can't wait for your next upload!
Since you mentioned how close Alfheim sounds to elf land, that is actually basically what it means. Heim in this case translates to home, so Alfheim translates to elf home, or land of the elves. Jotunheim is land of the jotuns, or land of the giants, helheim to land of hel, etc. The Norse were very creative with their names. Also, the game will tell you later but it doesn't spoil anything, so the "tree" that sprung up during the Thor fight is actually frozen lightning, his lightning and your axe's frost magic caused it. As to why Kratos refused that deal with Odin right away, well, you just played 3 games that show you what happened last time he made a deal with a god lol.
I waited months to watch you play GoW Ragnarok ❤❤❤ 36:57 I'm surprised you missed the wounded bear right in front of you (as you were always a keen eye). You could check it and continue searching for Atreus
It's Ok... I had the exact same reaction to the Fenrir scene. Literally everyone that played the game had that reaction (except psychos). It's very human. Animals are innocent creatures that harbour no hate or malice. That's why we love them. I personally have lost a pet before so I can talk from experience. I loved him as much as any member of my family.
Kratos didn't take Odins "deal" because he saw straight trough every manipulation tactic he was trying to use. Bribing, bullying, threats, promises and all his little mannerisms, like drinking out of both cups etc. He prepared for a possible war against the aesir and had the wisest head alive at his disposal to find out what each of them is all about. So he went for none of Odins strategies and just said "no". Which btw will have Odin probably fuming because he can't use his manipulation over Kratos like against everybody else, meaning he has no power over him
wiiiiiiii finally!!!! let's grab our popcorns!! I know you been playing it on twitch and don't know if you already finished it but hope you enjoy it!! what an amazing game! a surprise after every corner!
So, when Atreus gets upset, he turns into a bear. Imagine if he had been able to do that in the 2018 game. He might've turned into a little bear cub. Cutest Spartan Rage ever.
I have waited for this since the God of War 2018 playthrough. :) And it's perfectly normal to feel sad if an animal dies. That just means you're human. Those who doesn't are just cold hearted. Can't wait for the next episode!
Tears flowing just for starting the game, I was like "Oh she gonna be sobbing here in a minute here for the doggo" In the previous games Mimir tells you of Thor and the World Serpents strikes against one another shaking the nine realms. Both when Thor firsts encounters him in the past and even more so during Ragnorok. During Ragnorok, Thor strikes him so hard the world tree itself splitters. Essentially shattering reality and sending him some hundred plus years into the past(Funny enough that means that that young World Serpent fights him back to back). So if anyone was gonna give Kratos a hard time in a physical contest, it was gonna be Thor.
YAY All hail Eralia, Goddess of War! Btw. ... You actually have an interesting singing voice. Ever thought about recording a song? Anyways, looking forward to continue this journey with you.
There's comic that bridge the end of greek saga to this game, it tell story of kratos wandering the world trying to run away from his past, he even go to Egypt and met the gods there (remember in Tyr's vault where he collect relic from all over the world, it confirm that gods from other culture coexist in this game universe)
After you finish this game, I really recommend playing through the Valhalla expansion. It has some special callbacks to the original games and I think it ties together the old Kratos with the new Kratos even better than the core games do.
Finally Ragnarok this game is epic I loved it and beat it on all difficulty I hope you have a blast. There is also a good amount to do after the story line, also pro gamer tip when you get the doors up and active, when you activate them they replenish your health and rage to max. So if you see them out in the world and need some resources they are helpful.
The timeline between Kratos crawling off the Cliffs after killing Zeus and him meeting Faye is about 1,000 years if I remember from the "raising Kratos" documentary
Okay so I know you’re way ahead of this part irl, and you might’ve already figured it out, but the reason your blocks/parries are off is because you’re shield bashing, not blocking. If you press the block button twice in a row you’ll shield bash, which completely stops you from actually blocking. So be careful not to accidentally shield bash when you’re trying to parry/block. Seriously amazing part 1 tho, your reaction to Fenrir literally made me cry lol.
Yes, Fenrir dying is very sad, but I think it is necessary. We're about to see Kratos and Atreus do some incredible things. Things that no mortal person can do. To see that they are so hurt by the passing of their pet "humanizes" them. We all know loss like that and to see these two gods feel that way as well helps connect/reconnect to them as characters, and so we accept and care about what about they go through. Much like Faye's funeral did in the 2018 game.
I know that they say the name of the two sled wolves, but when they were shown in one of the game's trailers, they hadn't said their names. My friends had taken to calling them "Cry" and "Havoc" and the nicknames kind of stuck. "Cry Havoc and let slip the Dogs of War."
27:34 I love this so much, it’s _so_ funny. _You know how much those fuckers weigh??_ Those trees would each weigh _hundreds_ of pounds, if not more. So Kratos apparently saw Faye do this and thought, “Yup, that is a _totally_ normal, 100% mortal human woman. I’m so lucky with my absolutely jacked muscle mommy.” 🤣
When kratos told Atreus to train after fenrir died, he was just trying to help distract him from the pain. It’s the same as when he took him hunting after Faye’s funeral. He’s doing his best to help Atreus through his grief in the only way he knows how.
Kratos would never make a deal with Odin. Remember the last time Kratos made a deal with a God (Ares). He would never make the same mistake twice.
"A choice by the Gods is as useless as the Gods themselves."
Kratos: I remember what it is like to have a yolk upon my neck.
Beyond that Kratos doesn't hate freya and doesn't trust how odin would settle the matter. Odin overplayed his hand.
@@benspangler6661Agreed, I genuinely wonder if Kratos would have agreed if Odin simply said "Let's both forget about it all" rather than wording it in bargaining terms and mentioning Freya

WOOOO! The moment has finally arrived!!! Enjoy!!!
Faye saying “Good Boy” to Kratos is CRAZY
You have no idea how long i have waited for this, thank you eralia
As soon as I saw the thumbnail the first thing that came to my head was “that wolf scenes finna break her”
It's not a true eralia video with out the water works. You are going to love this game glad to see you finally start this
Don't worry about the haters that complain about your crying, I cried too when I watched that scene. I am A huge wolf lover
God of war Ragnarok is the best game in the franchise as far as I’m concerned, full of action, heart & high emotions, I think you’ll love it.
"Face lipstick" 🤣
28:51 do remember the yellow paint that's gonna be important for the ending
Whenever Odin takes a step towards or touches Atreus, Kratos grabs his axe.
While fighting Thor, Kratos and Thor collided their weapons and made that frozen lightning not a tree:)
The timeline between Kratos crawling off the Cliffs after killing Zeus and him meeting Faye is about 1,000 years if I remember from the "raising Kratos" documentary
Finally the wait is over 🔥
Every morning Odin's raven fly around the world to tell him everything they see...
Like the cosplay! I hope you enjoy this game!
1:25:54 That’s frozen lightning, not a tree. You know, when the hammer and axe clashed with each other
1:02:40 LMAOOOOOOO
Yes, Fenrir dying is very sad, but I think it is necessary. We're about to see Kratos and Atreus do some incredible things. Things that no mortal person can do. To see that they are so hurt by the passing of their pet "humanizes" them. We all know loss like that and to see these two gods feel that way as well helps connect/reconnect to them as characters, and so we accept and care about what about they go through. Much like Faye's funeral did in the 2018 game.
I was literally just thinking earlier this week, Eralia has not played Ragnorok yet...Hell yeah!
I think you would also enjoy the horizon games too :)
For those about to Ragnaröck! Can’t wait… I too shall have mead.
"I'm killing Atreus that's it." 😂😂
This Raiderssssss on Fireeeeee🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎵🎵🎵🎵
Kratos just went from Greece to Scandinavia after he destroyed the Greek pantheon
I know that they say the name of the two sled wolves, but when they were shown in one of the game's trailers, they hadn't said their names. My friends had taken to calling them "Cry" and "Havoc" and the nicknames kind of stuck.
"Cry Havoc and let slip the Dogs of War."
Welcome back
27:34 I love this so much, it’s _so_ funny.
