    I don't talk about it much but I live with an incurable illness that's forced me to rely on my TH-cam channel as my only source of income to survive. That said PLEASE consider using my links in the description - it not only helps the channel but helps keep my life afloat. BIG THANK YOU to those that do.

    I peeped out your interface. How were you able to fit your interface with the two pieces of rack holders? I like that idea

    Always enjoy your segments. They roll right along, well-paced.
    My latest torment on interfaces is Motu Mk5 vs. Antelope GO. Both have different, yet excellent features.
    Think it's going to be the Motu though. The connectivity factor is big. I have some outboard gear to use.
    Good desk review. Mine is an adaptation of a wooden flat desk I've modified with rolling wheels, etc.

    I noticed that you have the MOTU Ultralite MK5 in that rack. Do you have any issues with it on a Windows PC? How is the Headphone output and would you recommend it for Gaming? I'm torn between the MK5 and the BLA 2x2 Revolution. I have both a Mac and Windows setup and want a solid interface to work in both ecosystems. Loving the desk btw! So fortunate to see this because I was curious on how half rack units were mounted. Earned a sub here. Keep doing what you do bro. Stay Up!

    • @JacobDarkOfficial
      @JacobDarkOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No issues on PC with the Motu, headphone out powers my 250 ohm DT990s just fine. While the Revolution is great I feel like the Ultralite is the way to go with all the connectivity.

    The biggest question I have is how does the tray feel when you play on it. I can't have it have any give at all.

    • @JacobDarkOfficial
      @JacobDarkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't attack the tray to have more room under the surface however they have a newer add on that looks real heavy duty. If you end up purchasing I'd appreciate you using my Sweetwater link so you can check it out

    If you compare Motu ultralite mk5 and motu 828 mk3 then who will be the best. And which audio interface can record in better quality.

    • @JacobDarkOfficial
      @JacobDarkOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      While I've never used the 828 Mk3 it's like 10 years old, if it were me I'd go Ultralite simply for the newer internals.

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are completely different products. The 828 mk3 is based on an early 2000s design which is part of the legacy line up. The modern AVB Pro Audio line up, M series and Ultralite Mk5 are completely new designs from the group up with higher end conversion. I have the 828ES as my main studio converter in my rack for my Hybrid Mixing rig. You can sorta see it in my Profile aviator picture on here. I compared it to an Apogee that I had and they were sonically close. Driver wise, the MOTU was more stable on Windows. The Apogee drivers performed ok but started to crackle and pop with higher track counts.

    • @anuketminj8685
      @anuketminj8685 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But if the price of 828 mk3 is more than ultralite mk5 there must be something better in it, will it not?

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anuketminj8685The mk3 828 is a very dated product by today's standards. Of course the 828 generation of interfaces are going to cost more because it's a full 19 inch professional rack unit with more i/o than the Ultralite. The Ultralite is a half rack unit that serves a different purpose which is an entry level professional unit. The late model MOTU hardware products are like in an entirely different league from their older legacy stuff. Overall better converters thats been upgraded. A whole new analog design circuitry... The AVB Pro Audio line completely replaced the higher end legacy PCIE interfaces like the HD192, 1296, 24 i/0 all released in the early 2000s.

    Do you think a 32 inch monitor and 2 speakers (same size as yours) will all fit on that top panel? looks like your speakers are on a separate stand.

    • @JacobDarkOfficial
      @JacobDarkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      If they're 5" speakers maybe with the add ons that go on the sides, I was using a 34" ultrawide here

    How well does the WBA support the weight of the WA87-R2 with the shock mount?

    • @JacobDarkOfficial
      @JacobDarkOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Took a little adjusting but I got it sitting on it just right! Hanging upside down with a pop filter so I can cut quick vocal demos from my desk, ended up putting the SM7B on a mic stand as my main mic for TH-cam videos

    It's a nice and thorough overview and actually helped me NOT to purchase it. With the keyboard tray installed, it seems like it would be getting very tight. And I personally like a keyboard tray that I can slide in or out but still have my hand on the mouse. This doesn't seem to be that unit. Thank you!

    Excellent video and review. I have one of these desks arriving next week. I also just ordered an
    ASUS TUF Gaming VG34VQL1B 34” Curved HDR Monitor, WQHD (3440x1440) ultra wide as well. I traditionally used two 24” monitors. What monitor are you using and does the curve screen fair well with daw workflow? Thank you for your time. Great job!

    • @JacobDarkOfficial
      @JacobDarkOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A curved 34" is perfect for this desk, absolute winning combination. Now I use a Benq SW321C I think it is? Their high end photo editing monitor but for a DAW that 34 is going to be perfect

      Suppose it would depend on your height, but keep in mind it's height adjustable so you can set it as high as you like, I keep it on it's lowest setting so I'm looking forward at my monitor and not up so standing up it would be too low

  • @spacedaddy5517

    Im thinking all the analog gear has ab out a 5 year lifespan left. It's obviously not the most efficient technology we have anymore. It might sound better, and I'm sure it does.
    But sound quality was never perfect in a digital environment, one day it should be.
