Cheers mates!
Assuming that the mimics always lie while all non-mimics always tell the truth, there are exactly 2 solutions for the thumbnail scenario: 1, the blue chest is the only mimic; or 2, the blue chest is the only treasure box.
Ah, I was missing the context at 3:05 that there's only 1 mimic that lies for this puzzle.
Blue is the mimic, loot red and black.
You aren't wrong though, since in 16:26 it confirms that there will be more than one mimic. Luckily, you will be able to see how many are in that round... unless on harder stages, that gets removed, and you might end up needing to 50-50 it. (After all, they give you the option to tag it as 1, 2, and 3. Not just mimic or no mimic)
Chests talk, 4 mimics confirmed
@@alt-pg1vcIf you check my reply to the OP, you’ll notice that my logic is why there are 3 options, and it’s rare for any logic puzzle to come down to a 50/50, once you examine how the chain of if/then statements shake down. Even minesweeper (expert iPhone flagless for me) only comes to 50/50s like a third of the time, and that’s almost exclusively due to
XO OX
OX Vs. XO
situations. I’ve even fully counted out unmarked mines to solve a minesweeper with 2 8s. Patterns are the next step in the logic chains there, rather than individual mines.
@@nadrewod999 Actually, if you use more logic, even without the context, you can narrow it down to the correct solution, assuming that mimics lie and chests don’t. If you want to think on it further before scrolling down to see why I drew that conclusion, please do so. Spoilers ahead:
Since the right red chest and black chest say the same thing, they are either both lying or both not. Since the blue chest says a conflicting statement to those two, each pairing (blue and right red, blue and black) consists of one truth and one lie. Since the left red is backing black up, claiming it’s true, we have your two scenarios. In scenario one, blue is correct, and only one red is a mimic. If that were the case, the left red or the right red are lying, not both, since blue isn’t saying “at least one red is a mimic.” If that were the case, examine left as a liar, and see that it means black is lying, too, so right is saying that same lie. If right was lying, then black is saying that same lie, and that makes left a liar. Therefore EXACTLY one red cannot be a mimic, and blue is a proven liar. I’ll collect my three chests safely now, without having known how many were mimics when I started :)
7:00 you need to click that button again, because it's a "controller agnostic" menu, so the first click only selects it, just like an arrow key or controller button would without opening it.
The worst part of that is he knew to click twice for cancel to leave the shop, but never tried it on buy or sell. Despite also knowing he had items that should appear in sell.
It was certainly interesting to see his logic with the shop, lol.
His brain was like “You must click twice to exit the shop. You must click twice to buy/sell. One of these is a mimic!”
I played way too much rpg maker games. I felt the pain when did not double click the buy or sell buttons in shop. Lol.
@@Voltpinesame here, as an rpgm connaisseur, this hurt me
I hate RPGM and even I knew that. 😂
The trick to these puzzles (at least at this stage of the game) is to look for contradictory pairs of statements. You then know that (at least) one of them is lying. If there's only one liar (since only a Mimic will lie, and there's only one Mimic), then you can immediately trust all the boxes outside that pair, which will usually eliminate one of the pair as well.
Whenever you have a box Point at another and say it isn't a mimic in single mimic rounds, that box must be true, otherwise there would be 2 mimics.
The game could benefit from having neutral/uncertain boxes, layered statements or other mechanics to add variety, as it stands the difficulty is more in doing things fast than finding out the answers.
You could also balance with more mimics or boxes, but both would influence the amount of treasure, screwing with the balance of that, aswell as more boxes clashing with the time mechanic.
This seems like the sort of cute puzzle game I'd spend hours on especially once the difficulty ramps up, definitely looking forward to the full release!
A note, as I said elsewhere, you will NOT always be able to know if all the chests are or are not mimics. Example: 2 reds, 2 blacks, 2 blues, and you know 2 mimics are on the floor.
Chest 1 (Red): there are is at least one mimic in the blue chests
Chest 2: (Black): There is at least one mimic in the red chests
Chest three: (Blue): There at least one mimic in the red chests
Chest 4: (Black): there is at least one mimic in the blue chests
Chest 5 (Red): There is a t least one mimic in the black chests
Chest 6: (blue) There is at least one mimic in the black chests.
In this example, there are no safe chests to open! Any combination of the chests could be a mimic, so the smart answer is to bail on the whole mess!
Maybe one of these days we'll get a game with a Mimic Mimic, which pretends to be a Mimic to lure in Mimics
That's not the "Mimic Mimic" I've seen before.
The Mimic Mimic I've seen is a mimic that pretends to be someone attacked by a mimic- That way when you go to save them, They attack you.
You have a calm atmosphere when you play games, I am certainly going to watch you more.
Ya super breathy asmr voice but inoffensive so it slides.
Got that manlybadass hero vibe
I keep getting surprised how much I enjoy seeing logic puzzles like these.
Thank you for the video.
rule 1 of looting if the chest speaks to you it is a mimic 😆
The non-hostile boxes already ate someone today, they're happy to let you take their stuff and go without a fight.
It killed me that you missed the simplest manner of eliminating potential mimics. Several of the boxes would say the exact same things. If any statements are the exact same, they have to both be telling the truth (when there is only one mimic).
Your opening comment of the video was enough to make me go give the demo a shot. Love the premise. Definitely going to pick up the game when it comes out. Thanks for the video
Congrats on the blowup video. First coverage I've seen of this game, thank you.
This was a fun video, i look forward to part 2, and i enjoyed that you checked out the strategies too
Thank you TH-cam for recommending this hidden gem of a creator.
Standard RPG maker fare, so it surprises me to see the UI challenges you face. In the shop, you have to confirm your verb before you can buy/sell. In more simple terms, double click the corresponding option to open the list, THEN select what you buy or sell. Equally, if you are given something to use, always check "items" first.
As for hints on the puzzles, my go to for single liars is to find the 2 accusing each other. Since both cant tell the truth, one of them is lying, then it doesnt take much to find the real one from the other hints given.
I just played through the demo after clicking here, really cool game, i cant wait for it to come out fully!
pretty cool demo! I love logic puzzles, the time limit makes me feel a little nervous.
Interesting how much can be done with RPG maker that isn't just RPGs. I wonder if they can do anything about the shop needing to be clicked twice, cause I can see why that would be weird if somebody doesn't play a lot of RPG maker stuff. I think there were a couple other RPGmaker-isms that could also be adjusted, but I forgot what they were. It works in terms of being an RPG maker game, but a more general audience might not be as used to it.
You need to double click the buy button to buy stuff
i Assuming dev make this game with RPG Maker
so when you in shop
you need click "one more" in your option
like you clik buy, then click "Buy" again
is because need press "enter" in keyboard gameplay
4:05 spider man meme
you had 99 subcribers when i watched this video, im claiming your 100th subcriber spot :)
I enjoy logic puzzles.
6:50 u still have to PRESS the buy and or sell....
Hey if you´re going to play more of this game I suggest you use proof by contradiction. Here´s how it works: 8:23 suppose that the blue chest is a mimic. Thus it would be lying and there´s no mimic in the bottom row. However since the blue chest would be a mimic itself this can´t be true. This is a contradiction and the blue chest cannot be a mimic. 16:00 wow they even made that into a lesson.
Just going on the thumbnail alone, if there is only one mimic, it would have to be the blue one - assuming the mimic is the one that’s lying and the rest are telling the truth.
Then again, if a treasure chest is talking, then isn’t it a mimic too?
This is a cool game! never saw it before. You might like this other game ... 7 years as a cat king? or something like that ...
If the chest speaks, it is a mimic!
With the merchant I assume you had to click twice on buy/sell like how you had to click twice on cancel.
Cheers hope you get viral
Interesting game, thanks! Going to check it out now
Dunno dude. I would attack all the chests to get experience points
mouse
kb
controller
it meant to move and such. why not use default keyboard and mosue?
7:06 I think you failed to properly use the Shop menu.
Had you double clicked the "Buy" or "Sell" category, it should have went inside of it. But I think by only clicking it once, you were just putting your cursor on it, and not actually confirming it.
try double clicking on buy / sell
Wow an RPG maker game that isn't an outright scam.
Lmao there's plenty of good games made on rpg maker
The whole time limit thing is dumb. Just let the player do the puzzles unhindered...
Ca you please open a Mimic in a next episode? You know, just out of curiosity what happens.
Loud scream, red screen. and it shows you all statements and which chests were and were not mimics
the way this man solves some of these puzzles makes me angry, when there's 1 mimic and 2 boxes agree on something they are both safe why does he not realize it (at the point in the video)
you not knowing how RPGM games work (shop) hurts me
Then it's a bug in RPGM and it should try to improve it's UX. For me it looked like he did the right things and the shop simply doesn't work yet.
@@ProstoLyuboyou have to click twice to "confirm" your selection. He did this for Cancel, but not the other options. Though I agree for a mouse controlled game like this, it really should be 1 click.
@ProstoLyubo Just like the famous Windows bug, where left clicking a program on your desktop once selects it, instead of launching it... clearly a UX problem... /s
playing with mouse controls is disgusting
Honestly, it was way too stressful listening to you spending time explaining random details that have nothing to do with anything while your hunger meter is steadily ticking down in real time. x__x
3:48 has me confused.
* The game says that any box / treasure chest is a mimic.
* Only 1 of the 4 mimics on screen can be lying
* But both of the 2 mimics on top are making untrue statements: claiming that some other mimic is not a mimic
* Immediately, this puzzle is unsolvable, because the rule that only 1 mimic can lie has been broken. All 4 of the mimics are lying.
If we instead suppose that:
* some boxes are not mimics
* all boxes are apparently sentient, regardless of whether they are a mimic or not, and can apparently speak (what?!)
* all mimics always lie
* all non-mimics will never lie, and only tell the truth
Now, there is an actual puzzlbe, and we can solve for the bottom left one being the one and only mimic.
I don't believe that the game DID say that all boxes are mimics, but if it did you can easily attribute that to translation error. Use your brain.
@@simonwillover4175 its... its almost as if that's the rules of the game? (it said all boxes can talk but only the mimic lies)
"Within these 4 treasure Boxes, there Is only 1 mimic that Lies"
So, there Are an Unknown number Of mimics, But there Is at Least 1 Mimic, which Only tells Lies.
in Addition, it Says to Open all Treasure boxes, Except for The treasure Box that Holds the Lying mimic.
It didn't Say all Treasure boxes Are mimics.
@@dr.blockcraft6633it tells you on the top of the menu how many mimics are among the boxes.
Talk slower?
