It's a great entry level rc. Even for guys who are established rc enthusiasts its still something they can build to be faster if they wanted. I originally bought the Traxxas Rustler vxl 2wd because Arrma at the time did not have a capable 2wd rc. Everyone I've talked to who bought the gorgon enjoyed it. So I'm going to give this one a try.
I liked the boost range wish they did all there cars in like that especially for the more expensive ones then u could buy them cheaper and upgrade yourself.....
The boost lineup lookes good on paper as a beginner rc that you can upgrade but it fell flat because the upgrade path wasnt well thought out. If you do any of the upgrades before the 3s boost box you will just burn out the motor. The price of the 3s boost box was too high IMO and made skipping the boost version and spending the money on the 3s version upfront the much better option. Having to spend so much more on upgrading the boost led to buyers remorse. The gorgon on the other hand nailed what it was supposed to be, a great beginner rc that anyone can fun with for a fair price. It makes alot of sence that they would offer it in the different styles of trucks.
Well given the boost is discontinued (sure you can still get parts) and apparently they didn't handle well, best to just get the platform designed for 2wd which is this new one. Now I just wish they'd sell a roller version and let us decide on electronics. Nobody (or at least people not completely brand new) needs that 2-in-1 stuff.
They really need to sell more rollers. I think they must have a warehouse full of brushed motors that costs too much to throw in the dump, so they make us pay for them. I'm not a snob, I'm not sayin everyone should drive a fast brushless motor truck, but brushed motors are disposable, they don't last long. Which many beginners don't realize. And then they're stuck with that brushed ESC \ receiver combo, so it's more expensive to upgrade.
I think it’s a great idea. Traxxas has had a seperate 2wd and 4wd, brushed and brushless Rustler, Slash, and Stampede for decades and sales never drop. Arrma will be successful with this. Not everyone needs a brushless speed demon 3s or bigger.
Definitely getting the new vorteks. Probably the new fury too. 😂 I’m an old school guy. And I love that these companies are giving us super durable, inexpensive, old school looking and feeling 2wd vehicles. I’ve driven the tires off my Gorgon. Fun in the RC hobby doesn’t always mean expensive. 😊 These are great for all skill levels from beginners, to seasoned RC veterans, and they won’t break the bank.
I'm actually not a fan of these new arrma platforms, it's too expensive in my opinion, for something so basic and brushed. I feel like they should have produced more of the 4s range
Your complaint is kinda going in different directions. 1st they're too expensive. So you can get in one at $149 (Vorteks brushed). With inflation what it is today and it's from one of the big brands in RC (Arrma & Traxxas for bashing), what should have been the price? You expect a 1/10 RC release to be 100 bucks? Then you switch gears and say something 4s line should have happened. So now we're talking about 4 and 5 hundred dollar RCs. So is it price? Is it which RC they came out with? Just kinda all over the place. Sounds like the entry level 2wd, inexpesive RC just might not be where you're at in the hobby.
@@SteveSoper1979 I'm just kinda saying that since they have already produced the gorgon, the should also produce another 4s car, since the 4s Mojave was such a bomb
Hey long as it’s cheaper better than the rest , the Mojave 4s really is the bomb , I’m trying to preserve it using in street grass , I added 6s esc it screams
The BOOST trucks have been some of the most problematic RCs I have. The slipper clutch and .48p gears are complete garbage. If you dont feel like spending the $240 in BOOST kit upgrades, avoid the BOOST vehicles completely. Pretty much have to use the Arrma BOOST box upgrades or its gonna be junk
Yeah I got one and added the 4x4 kit, burnt out a few motors before the plastic slipper went, got the metal slipper boost box for it and now I can't drive it for 2 minutes before it overheats.
@wreckemrc yeah, gotta go all the way unfortunately. That's why I sold mine lol. Didn't wanna put the $250 into both of em, and they refused to run good stock.
I'm not feeling the Vorteks/Gorgon direction. The Gorgon should stay Gorgon, and not bunch the Vorteks and Gorgon together. I think discontinuing the bathtub chassis Vorteks is a BIG MISTAKE! I myself have Two Vorteks, and a Gorgon. To me the Gorgon puts a smile on my face EVERY TIME. It shouldn't be made into a generic RC. Plus the Vorteks Boost has flexibility that most RC'S don't have (basher or racer). Again i feel discontinuing the bathtub chassis Vorteks is a mistake in my opinion. I'm hoping I misunderstood your video.
How so? I think that Arrma must make more affordable entry level cars to have a customer base to sell and develop the big boys. Horizon, with the killing off of the ECX line has to offer more beginner stuff somewhere. Plus, this chassis is great. Wish it was a Raider though.
@@nemocheeriothey already went in this direction and so has other brands. Arrma at this point is running out of ideas. Just wasting plastic imo. Same 💩 different toilet. Would've been nice to see a 5th scale Typhon or updated 3s line with a center diff
# that redcat for 300 and being 4s we may get our wish . The granite was great I drove it rebuilt it along with others , they were 300 with tactic radio I think were a little stronger

Thanks so much for this video. I'm getting the Vorteks for my nephew, and I was really confused about the difference between these two.
Glad I could help!
The boost for sure. I’m cool with the fury and the gorgon. But vorteks to my family is meant to be 4wd. At least upgradable to such.

Arrma
Had really turned into a beginner rc brand with all the new grom linup and the neck brushed

Just got a boost vortex yesterday.i had every thing to make it like the 3s
Hey,
Did notice that there is no servo saver underneath
What about that?
Peace

Pointless they could have just lowered the price on the boost range £150 without Bat and charge and £180 with bat and charge .
They are going in the wrong direction

😂 that’s coming hopefully 🤞 but economy this is the priority, they can offer sales on 3s once it has the center differential it’s getting 400 range

not feeling their new chassis at all. Especially that battery tray design.
Lets put a new body on it and new tires and call it a new rig come on arrma
Why buy downgrade?arrma should upgrade there Line-up..funny?
