    Thank you for this. We have had a Shiba puppy for a week, and I’m exhausted and stressed. I love him so much, but he seems to get into these times where he will NOT stop what he is doing, and if I try to stop him, he yells and snaps at me.

    Look at those ears go back into "Friiiieends!" mode while you hand-feed him!
    One thing people don't seem to observe in dogs: They are watching YOU for tiny cues and working very very hard to work YOU out!
    So to train successfully, one has to work as hard as the dog is working! Then you can see your dog's cues and when your dog is waiting for your cues that you have trained and you both will deepen your trust and "working together" and happiness.
    Jimmy looks so alert and secure and engaged and hence happy thanks to your training. Jimmy is like a "working dog" on the job on the go and loving life! Happy-go-lucky archetype dog mode. :-)

    Great points and tips. I'm one of the strange ones who loves the Shiba's stubborn and quirky personality. If I ever have a bunch of money and land and I knew I could care for them, I'd have a pack of dogs that includes a couple of German Shepherds, a Border Collie, a Husky, and a Shiba... That probably won't ever happen though, so I'll just take care of friends' Shiba pups and watch your videos... live vicariously. ;)
    They are lovely and wonderful dogs, though. ::Sighs wistfully::
    Thanks for your content. Take care.

    Thank you for sharing your experience with this breed. We are waiting for our shiba to arrive soon. What is the crate you use with Jimmy and how long do you use the crate?! Thank you in advance for your advice 😊

    • @SuperShiba
      @SuperShiba  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ingrid,
      For the crate I don’t have a specific brand in mind. You can check best rating ones in Amazon.
      We did get a few inquiries about the playpen we use. The playpen we use when Jimmy is older is designed as a baby gate and here is the link - amzn.to/37X8a5p
      The color we got (Matte Bronze) is no longer available and there is only white color available from the seller North States. You can certainly use it for your new puppy as well. They are not cheap but you get what you paid for and it is standing up nicely while we were using it.
      We ended up removing the playpen when jimmy turns 2.5 years old. There is no specific timeframe about when you should/can remove the crate. It really all depends on how your dog respond to training and also how he acts while he is outside. For your entertainment we did film the video about us removing Jimmy’s playpen here - th-cam.com/video/WnYLXnwRcNs/w-d-xo.html
      Good luck!

    I have a Shiba puppy myself, but when i tried timeout he was crying. I wouldnt do this again and also other people say that it is bad

    • @SuperShiba
      @SuperShiba  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi thanks for the comment. Dog typically cries for a reason. For example, when you’re leaving the house, when hungry, when needs potty or when he needs attention. When we do timeout at the beginning Jimmy cries too, and we firmly tell him no, he then stopped. Dog cries to get owner’s attention so it is solely up to your reaction to him crying will shape how he react next time. If you respond to the whining, the dog knows whining gets what he wants and will whine again.

      She gave you a great response. Whining is a form of communication. Also, part of having a Shiba--or any dog--is learning to tune in and be present with your dog. Your dog is constantly talking to you, and it's up to you to listen. So if time out doesn't work for your specific dog, understand why; if you decide not to continue time-outs, the reason should not be because other people say it's bad but because you, the handler, have decided that that does not work for your particular dog. A very wise trainer told me many years ago: "No one will know your dog better than you. So listen and pay attention, then act accordingly."
      Good luck!

    I've watched 6 videos from this playlist and they're all almost the same, why did you do that?! Jimmy is cute but one training video is enough instead of constantly repeating yourself, I'm pissed off that i feel like wasting my time
