loved this game when i played it back when i saw this in a local arcade before it went out of business for a stupid walmart, glad there is FINALLY at least 1 and only full playthrough of the game here on youtube after all this time. Thanks you for posting this it really takes me back... too bad this isnt the english version though, but ah well cant complain.

Unfortunately, I didn't know much about the actual special moves, so I wouldn't be able to answer that question in the description much. For those that locate or can emulate this game and want to give it a try, I find that the single most important thing to remember - and this gets put on display a LOT in this video - is that aside from the sections where blocking is disabled (where you HAVE to strike first), defending before attacking is crucial. Particularly after the fourth stage, you'll get massacred if you try to make the first move the vast majority of the time. I did not actually know about the hidden life points you could reach by using specials at the right time, though.
im surprised to see you here frosty, im actually subscribed to you on youtube but i never thought you would play this obscure title of an arcade, but since you mention its able to be EMULATED what type of arcade emulation do i need to run this and i tried looking for a rom of this in the past but never found one due to obscurity of the title in the arcade rom data base via the whole net. btw, what does 1cc stand for or what is it exactly?
Sharpclaw Gaming Truth is I don't exactly know what type of arcade emulation would be required for running Tsurugi. I DO know that a similar swordfighting game, Mazan - Flash of the Blade, can be emulated even though turning the sword isn't quite there yet in that game, so I'm kind of assuming Tsurugi could be feasibly emulated. And 1CC stands for "1 credit clear". Basically, no continues.

OH! also i read somewhere on the net an article about this arcade game that this is ALSO, VERY close to wii motion sensor control standards for just the year 2001 when it came out. Pretty cool fun fact huh?
i know right? its a obscure konami game that just went to waste and was never ported to the wii like you said, its a huge shame thats the case i wish they just ported it anyways for any means to make konami and nintendo make more money even if its an obscure arcade title and game.

I mean, we eventually got something close with Red Steel 2, but such a damn shame they never ported this game or MAZAN: Flash of the Blade to the Wii when the console was perfect for both of them. Unless the source codes got lost for both games, of course.
There was also a similar game on WiiWare called GhostSlayer, which had virtually the same gameplay. Only difference was that you battled evil (ghost) spirits, instead of ninjas, but was a very fine game in it's own right though.
Idk if one of the retro arcanes in Austin have it now but if anyone lived in Austin TX they had this machine at Parks and Pizza for a long time I wonder what happened to it

My, where has my Konami gone? In all seriousness, though, this is one arcade game from Konami I would have loved to have played in arcades, or, at the very least, played a console port of it on the sixth-gen consoles. Great playthrough. Also, do you know of any video game music download sites that might have a rip of this game's OST? I fell in love with the majority of the soundtrack while watching this video.

How about doing a similar game based on: Highlander, Conan The Barbarian, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, One Armed Swordman, Yojimbo, Seven Samurais, Storm Riders, Legend Of Condor Heroes, Return Of Condor Hero, Heavenly Sword And Dragon Sabre
As a lover of this sort of thing with a basic kenjutsu background myself, I REALLY wanted this to be better than it was. I found the sword's lack of blade, and thus lack of blade weight, really off-putting, and like a lot of games with gimmicky peripherals it just seemed a bit hit and miss and didn't really work. There was no precision to it. And holding your sword vertically to the side as a form of defense just seems really alien and weird. I never got very far with it, I'm glad the whole thing is only 21 minutes long :) I'd honestly much rather play Ronin Blade on the PS1 :)

To be honest this game reminds me of Mazan flash of the blade (Namco arcade game).
Its basically its sibling in every way.
Though that game was virtually the exact same as Ninja Assault, except you used a sword controller, instead of light guns though.
For some reason Mazan has way more distribution in the US. Wonder if Tsurugi is more successful in Japan.

現在、私はこの基板にRTCエラーが表示されていて使用できない状態です。いつかは電池交換修理をすべきですが、今では他の事により、優先順位の押されています。（実際には、基板の商人が慈悲のない修理費用を私に提示したからです。）T.T janet.egloos.com/5110429 当時この作業を私のブログに書いたことがありました。（韓国語なので、翻訳した内容を理解することができなかった場合は、再質問してください。）とにかく、私もセンサーで反応がなくて、センサーが動作してないと思いましたが、ナイフコントローラが故障した場合、センサも反応しないことをわかりました。
この事実をコントローラをもう1つ注文しただけにして悟りました。基板セットは保持しているので、もし配線状況を写真で知りたい場合は、再度質問をお願い致します。
