Hey guys, love your videos! Watch almost all of them. I have to agree. I have a sledge and have driven the xmaxx in the past. Can’t beat the sledge. After some upgrades the sledge is near bullet proof. Favorite truck by far. Keep up the great work fellas!
I've come to understand that where you want to use the truck and what kind of ground you're running on is very important for making your decision as to which truck you buy. If you really love driving in snow, you should get a big truck. If you like skate parks, you can get anything with decent suspension. If you buy something like the hyper go 16th scale, don't expect to be able to go through tall grass or deep mud or deep snow. The hyper go 16th scale is good for dry or wet roads and the skatepark. After doing this for almost 10 years, I'm still learning, but these are things that should be taken into account when you choose which truck you want. The best thing to do is to just buy one of each and then you'll be all set!!!
Very, true! Our RC’s got bigger because where we live you need something that can handle off roading. There’s a RC for every situation, grab one of each.
I'm waiting for the comparison between the Sledge and the Kraton I will buy the better one in your opinion as I really like your objective videos. Thanks for your great videos
@@spambunny123personally think kraton is better value out of the box for what you get but the sledge is a better platform when upgraded. physically bigger diffs / outdrives ect
With the pricing on either of these, you'd definitely want to see more stock durability. Replacing parts should be a want, not a need at those prices. Having recently purchased that preowned Sledge, I knew there were items to replace off the bat, nothing major, just machined pinion/ring gears and an axle. I have since had to replace tires, front carriers, got all TRX axles and OP cups due to another axle bend following a little cartwheel tumble, and got the M2C motor/diff mount. For the next high-end, I'm thinking really hard on the XRT. I am hoping that durability is reflected in that price though. As for the showdown here, hard to call honestly as it was said that they are just 2 different animals. May as well ask a fish to climb a tree!
How about a torture test between the Sledge and the Maxx where you send both trucks into the air like there’s no tomorrow? I know you already made a comparison video, but it was more like ‘Netflix and Chill’ running.
Powerful XMaxx. Why was it popping wheelies so much? Any issues with the aluminum chassis bending on the Sledge? Any notable differences between a Sledge and a Maxx V2? Thanks in advance.
I'm interested in using the same gearing as yours. Still running 47/24 with 18/50 gearing, getting about 50mph, on stock belted tires, and it's pretty good. However, yours seems to rotate faster on backflips and looks pretty dang faster than mine, maybe too fast even 😂 I've always wondered back then as to why it would cog or go into lvc immediately when running 20/50 gearing. I'll definitely try out those input and output gears you've mentioned once I can. Your videos truly help a lot 🤘 Awesome videos as always!
@@redbanditracing Nice nice, that's good to know. 20/50 is most likely the sweet spot for general bashing, but I'll try out 20/46 once the parts come in 👌
How did you break so much stuff already? That toe link I've only broken one in 4 years with my upgraded Xmaxx (Max 5 and 1100kv 5687 motor). I have broken bulkheads and a couple of chassis, but that has been while jumping 25 ft high off my friend's huge ramp.
I explained it in a recent video, the tire is rubbing on the link when turning while accelerating. I’ve adjusted the end points to avoid another breakage. It seems the version 5 isn’t as durable as the version 4, thoughts?
Hey I know this is off topic but I took a huge jump with my Traxxas Maxx and the spur gear ended up stripping. I replace it and as soon as I gave it throttle it started stripping again. Any idea why this may be or what would be a good place to start looking?
I had a similar issue, I took the alignment pins out for the mesh. I set the mesh myself because the pins feel too loose. Are you using stock gears? Or hardened steel?
I'm using stock gearing. Steel pinion and plastic spur on the max v2. So are you saying if I ditch the pin I can tighten the bolts on the motor mount from the botton after I set the gear mesh???
Update, I went to mu local hobby shop and they suggested I move the pin up to tighten the gear mesh. I had to move 2 holes up to get the correct gear mesh. So something must be out of wack. I'll try a new motor mount if the mesh messes up again.
You are using a steel pinion with a plastic Spur gear? If that’s what I read then that’s why. The MAXX v2 doesn’t come with a plastic spur gear. Rule of thumb is if you use a steel gear its counter gear needs to be steel.
We did speed test those two, SLEDGE won from 0-50’. But if we were going from say 0-100’ the E-Revo would win (stock gearing). SLEDGE has a 2000kv motor, E-Revo has a 2200kv motor. E-Revo is more geared to top speed, Sledge for more power probably due to the weight.
@@redbanditracing That you're wilfully destroying your truck, it's almost hard to watch. But it's yours, so I guess you're free to do with it as you please. I just prefer not to shoot mine off ramps like that

Happy Saturday!! Great Video
Recently baught a sledge just because of you guys and your open opinions on it. Been loving it so far in stock form. Appreciate the videos guys
That’s awesome, keep it stock till it needs something.
Subscribed buddy .... Enjoy your vlogs..... Especially Sledge rig.💯💯💯🤙🤟👌👍🔥🔥
Thank you
Awesome Rc’s 💯🚘
Sledge body system is so much better than the X-Maxx. Also Can’t wait to see the sledge dominate in a Clash at the track!

Agree, both great in their own ways. SLEDGE has been more durable for sure. I’d say get the XRT, it doesn’t have the same issues as the X-MAXX.

A “what breaks first video” would be interesting
My money is on the SLEDGE, seems more durable.
💭🤔 Sledge vs XRT. Next video?
If we had the XRT we sure would.
Do you think your preference would be different if you had the XMaxx Ultimate?
Not sure, adding aluminum doesn’t always make things stronger.
Apples to oranges

Check out our one year review on the Sledge, we go over everything. X-MAXX just has a ton of power and grip.

Ever since we switched gearing, hasn’t over heated and it’s rips. Might go from 20/50 to 18/50

@redbanditracing thank you for this advice. I will look into this
Xmaxx V5 is the 5th generation
Sledge or erevo with speed

sledge is more durable, and really fun
Guys like this, enjoy spending money more than RC cars
