      That’s really the only reason that it’s a little less unsafe. It’s also one of the two main reasons undertaking is dangerous. Passing on a blind side of the car does add risk. 2 feet does make a difference when you’re going 65-70mph. Should it be an issue if you’re careful? No. But there’s no doubt there will be less visibility when you start an overtake. That’s just a fact.

      @@user-ez4ny5kd7x It depends on the market where the car was sold or where was it made. Most cars in the UK have indicator switches on the left but some Asian car makers have them on the right (probably their main market is Japan) I had a Hyundai Getz and a friend of mine had a Suzuki swift those had the indicator on the right, but My Vauxhall Corsa, Skoda Octavia, and also my brothers Golf has the indicator on the left.

    Don't forget the strict out of province inspections we do in Alberta when these cars are brought in compared to an insurance inspection when you buy used off say Kijiji where they basically make sure the car has lights and windows, and being an enthusiast owning a RHD car, I maintain it. Enthusiasts typically take really good care of their pride and joy. There are some pretty unsafe cars on the roads but my car that passed a strict OOP less than a year ago is a danger? Good solid video imo.

    This is a VERY good video from a young guy. You are a good driver beyond your years my man! As a professional driver with 30 years of over 3,000,000 logged miles, with safety being the #1 priority, I have a little insight. Most everyone believes they are the best driver on the road but this couldn't be farther from the truth. If there is any doubt in your mind as to your safety and awareness when driving, please stay away from RHD. With patience and safety in mind, let me go over a few things with you. Many people driving a rhd vehicle misjudge their lane and drive way to close to center, please be aware of this and do your best to not be that person. Also, assume you are in a yield turn lain in an intersection but there is a large truck in the opposite yield turn lane and you can't see around him to safely make your left hand turn because you can not properly see oncoming traffic. Same thing when passing on a 2 lane 2 way highway. Just don't do it unless you know for sure it's safe. Be the person that leaves nothing to chance and is willing to not be pressured by a few horn honks in order to wait until it's 100% safe to make the turn. One other thing that may help for both above stated issues would be a forward facing camera mounted on the left front of vehicle with a monitor inside the vehicle so you can see in real time what's happening. Not that you'll have to mount the camera to the front of the vehicle because if you mount it to the side of the fender, the view will be blocked when you are edging out to make your turn. One more part to this is the issue with going through the fast food drive throughs though if you have very long arms, it might just work. =) Just use comin sense no unnecessary distractions and with safety in mind at all times. P.S. I would argue that if your vehicle was only occupied 1x by the driver only, being in a rhd in a right hand lane and being in the most common head on collisions where it's the left front of the car that take the most significant amount of damage, you may very well be far safer in that scenario being a rhd driver.

    I've been a driver for more than 20 years and enjoy driving. Or, more precisely, I did until I moved to the UK. First, it was really dangerous to be a pedestrian from Europe, and I could have been injured several times without the road warnings "look right/left" - they are live savers! Second, even though I bought a British car and have been driving for two years, I'm not relaxed and do not enjoy driving anymore. It's not just to adapt to the car - that's the easiest part. It's the fact that the brain remembers "the other side rules". We do many things automatically while driving and react without thinking - which is essential in some situations. I live in a rural area, but every single time the car comes from the opposite direction, I have a strange feeling that "something is wrong". Once, when I had to react quickly, I did it wrong because of the memories - our brain memorises, but our body too, and my reaction was spontaneous. Luckily, nothing bad happened, but I can't wait to sit in the left-hand car again and drive on EU roads. I hope soon. It isn't worth the fuss to drive a UK car in Europe, and I want to feel happy again while driving, which I'm not at the moment. I'm just stressed. Blah. So my advice is - no, don't bother.

    It’s easier to go from RHD to LHD than the other way if you are right handed imo. Other than that it’s the same. Yeah you have to use your non dominant mirror more often but it should be set up right anyway.
    I drove a RHD crafter van through continental Europe and the only issue was my passenger kept leaning forward and blocking the mirror lol

      I had no trouble at all moving from RHD to LHD here in the UK. There's a technique for learning to stay in the centre of your lane by a top UK driving instructor, Ashley Neal - see here th-cam.com/video/IRTPVDo68aY/w-d-xo.html where he says how to do it in a RHD car by taking note of where your left knee is. Just swap left knee for right knee in LHD and it works fine, well it does for me, and instantly stopped me from drifting too close to the centre line. Try it..!

    Headlight lenses are different rhd vs lhd

    ive had experience with both lhd and rhd in The Netherlands and UK the roads in uk is created for rhd and the roads for The Netherlands are created for lhd because imagine you drive a rhd car on the right lane of the road and a van or lorry is driving in front of you and you want to take over the problem is you can't see if on coming traffic is coming so you need a passenger to look out for you. I've experienced this many times its very dangerous.

      Hello! I'm like a year late to the party but WOW THAT IS A DIFFICULT TASK, with all the aftermarket extremely rare parts time effort and things to need and replace overall it just really wouldn't be worth it. It'd cost you more to buy a rhd supra for example with low kms and swap it than it would just to buy a lhd supra with low kms. And I know some models don't come with lhd variants but in that case you would probably need to fabricate your own parts and believe me that shit is HORRID to do let alone insure.

And the part where he mentioned that your dominant hand is on the steering wheel if you need to shift while turning? Well I'm a leftie and I don't have problems with turning and shifting just because my dominant hand is on the shift knob. RHD vs LHD is a pointless arguments because it depends on the driver.

    Bro said the roads weren’t designed specifically for LHD then went on to explain ample reasons as to how the road (in Canada) is designed for LHD

    Of course it going to be confusing driving RHD in a LHD country and might cause more accidents if not comfortably assimilated. But If it ain't RHD, it ain't JDM.

    Oh god such a load of shit. i never had a hard time driving rhd in a lhd country. sounds like Canadian politicians got their pockets open to the car manufacturers and dont want used rhd cars being purchased by Canadians. they want you to buy new lhd cars. its not even that many compared to the majority population. the only people that drive rhd are enthusiasts or mail man. and thats a very small percentage. if its so dangerous then why do they let mail man drive rhd?

    I'm left handed. I've always had trouble operating phones and radios with my right hand. Do RHD people have this prob if they are right handed?

    • @lb9gta307
      @lb9gta307 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a little surprising. Most of us lefties, in my experiance, are fairly ambidextrous out of necessity.

      It must be our brains and the right side of the brain must control the most of the body probably why many people are right handed and way less are left handed. I think it’s better because it looks weird left hand drive having the clutch on the outside.
