Thanks for doing a comparison between the two versions of Costa Azzurra. I was about to pull the trigger on this new version since I wasn't able to grab the private blend before it was discontinued. But after seeing your review, I think I will just go look for old stocks the private blend version.
Something I want TF to do is bring back grey vetiver edt in the private blend they can call it vetiver lime or something like that, maybe they can add some ambergris to justify the price jump I would definitely buy it
These 3 signature style bottles match well. I've decided to go ahead with grabbing them along with the metalique one. Glad Tom Ford moved in this direction of creating an alternative to the private blends to where more people on a budget can get a chance to experience his scents.
I don’t think the reason is the money, it’s rather fitting into the mainstream and to be more alluring to the general olfactory understanding of the masses

I truly hope Tobacco Oud does not get this same signature line treatment! It took me a solid 3 months to find a 250mL bottle of it and i paid a pretty penny!
I am not just enjoying all the signature lines of TF but also the price 😜Ombré leather has already become my signature scent. Waiting to get my hands on the new Costa Azzura. Btw great review Chris!
I hope Tom Ford comes back with Moss Breches.....That was one of his best Private line Fragrances......I currently have a 100ml bottle of Moss Breches....So i am good with having it...... I do not wear it a lot because its so rare and expensive! Love Tom Ford and Chris nice video........I noticed for it being new old they still keep the gold plaque on the front.....
Although I'm sure some reformulation comes along with the Signature Blend launch, it smells basically the same as the Private Blend version. Like the Beau De Jour and Ombre Leather transitions, it's pretty much the same.

Two releases in only the first month of 2021! Plus Carlos intimated that the next one will be hyper masculine. Really interested to see what it will be. Hoping it'll be a really smokey piney leather...
Also if they decide to re-release oud fleur(rip my beloved) I really wish they release it in the black orchid / grey vetiver bottle style, I am not a fan of the ombre leather bottle style
I just sampled it. It's not Blue at all. It's super ambery and spicy. I don't remember the Private Blend version smelling like that. At least the presentation fits. It smells as the color suggests, like a spiced up whisky or something.
Nice smell but like 5 or 6 sprays and still the scent has gone in about 10 minutes. I have black orchard parfum and that can last all day from just 1 spray.
I bought this for my boyfriend. The gold bottle. I can tell you it is magical!!!! Very unique and sexy! I get the woody notes that sit beautiful on the skin. I agree it turns into a skin scent which is what I like. It draws me in like a magnet! Haha.
Totally agree with your assessment of LE. It's one of my favourite scents, and it doesn't get much love at all. LE in signature line would be very welcome indeed.

Interesting strategy dropping some of these well loved fragrances into their signature line. A well rounded explanation of what we can expect from this iteration, would be extremely interested to compare the two side-by-side.
My personal take, I passed on the private blend as I didn’t feel like it was in line with the cost. Now on the signature line, I bought it because now I feel like it is more in line with the cost.
@@nathanthomas5133 lol no doesn’t smell cheaper, now that I’m thinking about didn’t smell cheap, smelled designery if that makes any sense. To my nose, it smelled like an upscale Hugo, which I’m a fan of and was a signature scent many years ago. So had a disconnect between it smelling like Hugo and the private line price. An upscale Hugo at signature price hit the mark for me. Yeah since you put it that way I had to laugh as I thought to myself “yeah that sounded dumb”😂😂😂
So, this is Tom Ford's attempt at entering the Blue department. Looking forward to sample it. I remember not linking the Private Blend version, but I might confuse it with another one in the collection.

Costa Azzurra Private Blend and Oud Minerale are my favorite from the line. Both have amazing depth and give you more than most aquatics on the market. Very sad to hear it's being discontinued! I think the cheaper line needs to be a little cheaper in price. These frags are discontinued because they aren't selling....so they're just moving them over to a different bottle.
Not true actually , they have also discontinued some of their best sellers (Plum japonais, Tobacco oud etc) Some have been discontinued as IFRA regulations outlawed some of the raw materials & they were unable to reformulate without noticeably changing the scent profile. The video also clearly stated that they aren’t “just moving them over to a different bottle” as both this & Beau De Jour were reformulated to reduce the cost to fit the signature line pricing.
@@tzikas35 because as I said in my reply on some best sellers like PJ/TO they were unable to reformulate using approved chemicals & still keep the fragrance smelling the same (the bit where I mentioned the change to the scent profile ). Scent is complex chemistry - you can’t just swap chemicals around & keep it exactly the same. It’s like trying to rebuild a Ferrari when all you have are spare parts from a Lada. You can’t continue to call it the same name & keep it in the same price range if it smells noticably different from the original version. Other best sellers like Tobacco Vanille & Oud Wood have been reformulate several times over the years but not so drastically that they smell ‘totally’ different - even though the current Tobacco Vanille is a shadow of what it used to be but most people have never tried the original so won’t ever notice.
While I find this to be a very interesting scent, it performance terribly on me. With 4 sprays to the chest and shirt, I get 30 minutes of projection plus 2 hours of "nose down the shirt" scent. It is different from any other fragrance I have smelled, giving me an oregano/marjoram vibe; but interesting doesn't mean I would ever reach for this. It is like a painting where you admire the artist's skill and unconventional style, but wouldn't ever hang in your house. Combined with weak projection and duration, and an entry-nivhe price, I can only give it a neutral rating.
Tried at a mall, this lasted on my cloths for over 18hrs. Loved it and a great office fragrance too

If it does get the signature line treatment, the quality would probably be not on par with the Private blend version.

To me, this is like our generation’s Polo Green. Classy, sophisticated, but a younger and more complex scent. It is my daily/standby cologne.

Costa azzurra is one of my favourite summer scents, glad I still have a full private blend bottle. Is this on par with the aqua version they did?

How does the new version of CA stack up against the PP clone of the Private Blend one Chris?
They mixed all the left over Costa Azzurra and Costa Azzurra Acqua bottles together and made this with it.
