    I used to belong to a hotrod club here in Texas. I don't know how many I have either built or helped build but I wish I had the facilities and products back then that I see here. Imagine a no-weld chassis! Great video on this modded truck!

    personally I would drop in a fairly hot 383... 9-inch Ford 3:89 gears and a really good built 700 R4 and that would be a damn nice truck cruise-in and Scat around town.... keep it simple no fuel injection no computer no mess up a bunch of sensors fuck all that shit just make a nice traditional Rod out of a nice historic truck

    Such a shame. Took a beautiful piece of American heritage and bastardized it. If they wanted to showcase all of those new bolt-on parts, should have used a thrashed truck and brought it back to life, instead of killing a classic that was in such great condition.

  • @kermitthefrog3685

    They still don't get it.. And the most heartbreaking thing is, they have convinced themselves the problem is with us and not them. I will give them props for bringing the video production up, but damn... It's like raising a kid that can't seem to do right because he can't see the difference between right and wrong. The whole premise of this series is flawed. They cant do a proper build in a week unless they use a perfectly restored car as their base for the build... which is just soo wrong.

    • @larndavies6954
      @larndavies6954 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Kermit the Frog yep essentially just a parts catalogue/ open wallet build on a restored truck. No real fabrication at all. Half the joy of builds is it being different and not just fitting parts everyone else uses

    It's YOU GUY'S that don't get it! This is an easy way to "Build" a nice cruiser for less than a new Japanese car! I have owned and currently own my fair share of Pre-1972 vehicles. Even when "Restored" they are no match for new vehicles with ABS, Collision Avoidance and other safety features. That may not matter to you until they stop in front of you... AND YOU CAN'T!
    That "AD" Chevy truck probably cost them around $10 grand AS IS. They are not very desirable right now in STOCK condition. Saved time and money and that truck is STILL ON THE ROAD for another 10, 15, 20 years!
    If they chopped up a low mileage survivor, a '55-'57 Cameo or something RARE... then I get it.
    IMO they not only made that truck safer, and more enjoyable to drive, but also increased the value to $25-$30k.
    I LOVE original cars and trucks, it takes you back to another era. BUT... most cars Pre- 1967ish SUCK to drive in traffic or daily. Non sychronized gears, huge steering wheels, 100 horsepower and drum brakes are NOT compatible with the cars and drivers on modern roads...

    • @DOLLARBILZ100
      @DOLLARBILZ100 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wish they would tell the truth about the LS engine. it was originally designed as a Oldsmobile marine engine. that's why It doesn't have a Chevy bolt pattern on the back of the engine. It's not actually a Chevy engine at all. Back in those days Chevy, had a separate development department from Buick,Olds, and Pontiac.

    • @TheRyancamaro
      @TheRyancamaro 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      E. WEST The LS based engine has a "Chevy" bolt pattern on the rear of the block for a "Chevy" transmission, its the rear crankshaft snout that is too long for it to just bolt up so it needs a spacer to space the flywheel and be able to bolt up an old style transmission

    • @DOLLARBILZ100
      @DOLLARBILZ100 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The old style Olds transmissions bolt right up though, TH 400 fit well.

    This is one way to take a great truck and ruin it. You do this to non restored vehicle that needs work. One way to piss off your customers. Now i will think twice on ordering from speedway motors.

    • @davidstjames_
      @davidstjames_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Several years ago, I had an auto body shop. A good customer of mine had a beautifully restored Nomad, about a 5 year old restoration done by Sam Foose (Chip Fooses father, a very talented and respected body man and painter). He wanted me to do a color change on it, either red to yellow or yellow to red, I don't remember. I flat out told him no, I wouldn't do it, find a mediocre example and restore it. He changed his mind and left it alone, I'm really glad he did, it was already a gorgeous vehicle, why waste the majority of the work that was already done to it.

    That grille needs to be chrome, and that yellow paint is just wrong. Black or gun metal grey would've looked waaaaay better. And for the love of God, why did you play some random rock over the sound of the burnout and acceleration? The truck's exhaust note is the music! Let IT play.

      I have a 49 3800 tow truck, 100% stock, literally from when it was new. It has an awesome deep surface rust over the entire body, it looks awesomely mean! Right now I'm torn between a vintage looking 427 (possibly bored and/ or stroked a bit) and a more modern injected big block. LS's are great in modern vehicles, but there's nothing like a real Chevy Big Block! I'm not even going to adapt to side motor mounts, it's getting the horseshoe and rear mounts.

    Nice Jailbar Chevy truck, guys! I don't understand all the hate coming your way from everyone. The LS swap makes it HEAPS better than it was before, and it looked like a decent little chassis from Speedway. I would drive this thing until the doors fell off. Well done guys. The only thing that could have made it better is if you used one of Hooker's single turbo kits with the trick twin entry manifold on one side. Maybe you can do a more race inspired build in future for all of us that want a bit more from a build like this

    I'm already as sick of assholes that take a beautiful Ford car/truck, and slap in the old days it was a Chevy 350, and now it's all LS engines. I have ALWAYS been of the mind, that if you want to drive a Ford, KEEP IT ALL FORD, same with Chevys. you can build major cool, and major HP either way, any other way is just pure laziness.

    Awesome build, I like the way you guys know what parts are needed, where to get them, how to instal. This truck belonged to one company, they chose you to do the modifications. No one else has a dime in it. Others can do their restorations the way they want, and we are okay with that too. And why would anybody want to put a RR engine in a pick up that has to make daily deliveries.. LS is best.
