Hello Marlon: first off, I want to say, you have an amazing ability to HEAR and EMIT phonemes hardly achieved by speakers past their pubescence. The ability to correctly mimic sounds banks on the ability to distinguish them first (which decreases severely from 2 to 12 and beyond), but aside from the sounds themselves, there are aspects of intonation, accentuation, and prosody that you handle incredibly well. That's what gives the nuances to a language, and its feeling of “easiness” or fluidity, beyond a good use of grammar and semantics. This is to say (to those commenting below) that even if he was “ONLY memorizing phrases”, and / or reading from a prompter, (which he is clearly NOT!) his ability to pronounce and to “flow” the way he does, would remain unaffected. I'm sure he practiced a lot, but how many of us learning a foreign language practice endlessly and never reach that level of fluidity, always struggling with pronunciation? I surely do, because unfortunately, when I learned my B and C and D languages I was already an adult, having completely wasted what I realized too late, was an early facility to understand different grammatical structures, and assimilate languages. On this regard, memory is a great asset for the acquisition of languages, no matter what anybody tells you. The better the memory, the better the ability to retain, not only vocabulary, but also grammatical functions, and memory severely declines with age . Internet was not available to most of the population until I was 22 or 23 and it took still a good 15 years for it to contain enough free resources to learn languages. (the first TH-cam video ever was released when I turned 30) Anybody who wants to learn a language nowadays and has internet, can do so. But no everybody will have the ability to pronounce he does. His gift is obvious when it comes to Chinese. I struggled for a year with ts and tz sounds. The five intonations (accents) are not the real issue, for me, in Chinese, but the various affricates drove me nuts. He seems to have no issue with them (I left Mandarin, after a year, as I had no way to practice it, focused on Bahasa Indonesian instead ). I'm amazed at Marlon's Mandarin pronunciation! It's clear Marlon learned English as a child, and he is fully bilingual on Tagalog and English (and maybe you learned Ybanag as a child too?) Any pronunciation and accent when he speaks English are idiosyncratic. And BTW, that's the case for all of us, with our mother tongue, (or mother tongues), yes, INCLUDING native speakers of the English language, who are convinced they “speak without an accent”. You ALL have an accent, darlings, believe it or not, endemic or idiosyncratic to the region / enclave / group where you assimilated that language and culture. The only thing that sounded a bit off to me was “speaking with” instead of “speaking in” (“English is the language I feel most comfortable speaking in” instead of “speaking with”) but everything else is clean and clear, including the accent. With further training and some work on the grammar (of the few languages I can understand, at least) Marlon is definitely capable of becoming a hyper-polyglot at a very young age, assuming he is not one already. (I'm not sure with which degree of proficiency he speaks the 18 languages, but his efforts seem to have remarkable results) One tip: be mindful of the position of adjectives and adverbs in the romance languages. In general, nouns come before adjectives. In Spanish a few things worth correcting (because it's so close to being perfect!) “pienso que la razon por la que decidi aprenderlo” instead of “pienso que la razon por la que decidi de aprenderlo” No sustituir adjetivos por sustantivos (ejemplo, “tiene muchos tiempos verbos” por “tiene muchos tiempos verbales”) Tratar de mantener la concordancia de los pretéritos (no mezclar perfecto e indefinido) Pero en verdad tu Español es tan bueno, que estos detalles son menores, porque demás, no cometes siempre los mismos errores, son casi excepciones! Con respecto a la pronunciación, en Español, Italiano y portugués, es my importante pronunciar todos y cada uno de los sonidos, no omitir ninguna vocal o contraer sílabas (unlike you would do in English or German, in order to keep the cadence of the sentence). Enunciation is particularly important in educated Spanish and Italian, the vowels have always the same value, and pretty much the same length, no matter where they are in the word, and they must be spoken out. (thus make sure when you say “colonizaron” does not get contracted as “col'nizaron”, for a perfect enunciation). Finally, in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian and Romanian, it's important to keep the concordance of gender and number, which is easy, because it's signaled by the termination of the words. (not like in German, which feels completely random, and if there is a rule or reason for the gender acquired by the words over the years, Germans cannot account for them, and we, learners, can only do our best at memorizing them) Your French accent, by the way is really good! I'm sure a French native speaker would detect French is not your first language, but you do not sound like a Filipino speaking French at all. Good luck in your life-long linguistic adventure! You have come so far so young and you have so many years ahead of you! I hope you find something amazing you love to put them to good use. Your ability to mimic and retain are a gift. The mere fact that he was able to say all the sentences quickly with even almost close to perfection diction is already amazing considering that those aren't his mother tongue languages. Whether he memorized it or not, he still did a great job exerting the effort to study all of it. ❤️
