Strong on the deadlift and I was really impressed with the 90 kg overhead. I've got 70 kg or so in a strict press. Best regular barbell shoulderpress is 67 kg, which was easy. I've got to learn olympic lifting so I can push real high weights above my head.
Thank you! My deadlift got to 280kg in the lead up to NZ strongest man in 2022 so it got a bit better. I am also a weightlifter now so hopefully if/when I return it carries over
Great work mate but a few pointers. -work on your bracing/cote stability in the carry/medly events -learn the proper techniques and form for the movements. If you don't it's just going to cause injury
Excellent effort, but please look into learning form for log press and axle press if you intend to compete again. Competing on a whim without learning the movements causes injuries
I don't agree with that as long as your warmed up good. But I do agree if you want to continue you should train for these events and watch on you tube an learn. Good job 👍 and good luck on your endeavors on what ever you do.
@@zabnation1660 ah, I dont agree. You do what you like. And I bet you're ready for the next. Most people only talk about competing. You just did it. Good for you
A bit late to this comment but I ended up doing our national comp a few years later which was New Zealand's strongest man. Currently a weightlifter now tho
May compete again if another opportunity comes. To prepare I would probably head to one of the strongman gyms and just workout with a couple of my friends who compete consistently in strongman. Next time I won't rock up unprepared😂
Your deadlift form wants coaching. I also compete in strongman competitions now, and the only kind of training I have or want is barbell lifting in the style advocated by Mark Rippetoe's blue book 'Starting Strength'. I 0 plenty of untrained events every time but I paid for my ticket, I'll use it as I please.
It's interesting that they allowed double dipping on the pressing events. Most pro competitions don't allow it, but I guess the amateur competitions are a bit less picky.
I think I did worse at deadlifts. I was doing weightlifting throughout that year so my pull off the ground wasn't as good. I felt my presses were better got further than most in this comp for presses but got absolutely deleted on deadlifts
That comp looks like a blast! The max deadlift event is so smooth
That deadlift looks brutal bro. No rest and increase each time! Solid!
you left everything on the field and for that you have my respect.
This was a really awesome video!!
Your strong af dude !💪
Awesome work! Would be great to see you try again!
Excellent attempt bro. Keep up the hard work and don’t back down!!
Thank you! 💪

Strongman is a humbling sport ,awesome job man
It is a very humbling sport especially those atlas stones!

Will do that when I decide to do another competition. Was very strange and would benefit a lot from proper training!

Pretty nice dude! I'm a new strongman fan, thinking about doing a competition as well! Will you compete again? If so, how will you prepare??

A bit late to this comment. Deadlift got better. Managed to pull 280kg in the lead up to NZ strongest man in 2022

Apart from the Viking press. Strongman doesn't normally give a damn about double dipping
Quite late to this comment. They were quite lenient on everything as it was a novice comp
Very strong

I am 4 years too late to this party lol but great job. are you still training?
I am 4 years too late as well and just saw all the comments haha. I did NZ strongest man a few years after but returned to weightlifting instead
Looked like you did alot better in the deadlift than the press medley, but maybe i missed something

I am bit late but thank you 🤙
Hope you're still at it.
