This has helped me so much? I’m still trying to understand what I struggled with, but I am 32 years old and I still cannot read and write correctly and when I was a child I just thought I was dumb. But it took me until I was probably in my late 20s before I discovered that I have dyslexia. But after seeing this video it’s not just dyslexia that I have it is also Irene syndrome.. But nobody ever could tell me why I couldn’t read or how to learn to read they just always said just read well just reading did not work I am still trying to learn and it’s frustrating because at the age of 32 you should be able to read and write. So thank you for posting this video so I can try to understand more of how I can fix my disabilities so that way I can learn how to read. If you don’t know what the problem is how are you ever supposed to fix? Unfortunately I was homeschooled and my mother did not see the problems for what they were and so her and everybody else just kept telling me “just read more you’ll get it just read more” but I never get it. I live all the way up until I was 16 before I actually started to learn how to read and that is super frustrating because I am a very smart person but to the world I seem so dumb. So thank you for helping me figure out more about myself. If my text is confusing it’s because I’m using voice over because I still cannot do this on my own. But because of this video and other videos I am getting better.
Good on you. Your life has purpose and you are more than your reading ability. You were created by someone who does not create junk. You have a lot to offer people. Go and get some solutions (it's all completely free) from www.dyslexiaimprovements.com. Good luck. Michael (the guy in the videos.
About To Fly (Profitability & Business Experts) thank you so much for the words of encouragement. I feel like now that I have an idea of what I struggle with hopefully I can try and learn how to read and write. So again thank you 😊
Merribeth, I have SEEN tge Irlen Method work on my concussion patients even with their eyes closed! I am a neuro-specialized therapist, very science-based in my treatments but I also trust what I see, feel, and observe in others. I'm glad the Irlen method helped you put the pieces together!
I know as a child them questions would not work (to what are the words doing ) wouldn't work I was am very very logically minded which was not picked up same as my irlen syndrome. I know the words are not doing anything on the page so will always tell you the words are doing nothing. What do I see? letters and words on paper. How do see them? For me completely normally. Are they moving? I would just look at you like you're crazy how can dry ink move on paper, at a very young age I knew about optical illusions so that's all it is to me. As long as my eyes keep moving from one letter to the next or word to the next I see very well not needing to blink, if I'm asked to look at a page I will just keep my eye moving ever so slightly preventing any change in the text. If anyone just ask me to look at one letter only focus and concentrate on that one letter and asked me what it looked like after 2 to 3 seconds without blinking, the answer would be very blurry and then seeing double. Every test I took didn't work as I can outsmart the test or the person taking it , I am also dyslexic benefit being very logically minded, as a child everything was it puzzle just to do figured out, I learnt how to compensate maybe from birth looking around all the was just seen as simple curiosity it was and also a way just to see normally eye strain and headaches also normal, runs in the family female side actually mother grandmother , so a headache for me is normal meaning I feel normal, so the question how do you feel is a pointless one. As you know standardized testing is complete rubbish. The only person that help me figure all this out was my self 42 years old. I know a lot has changed in the last 30 years I know plenty of kids still fall through the gaps.
Solutions to every problem cannot be solved or found, a test I would do is removing a suspected child from the classroom so he or she is not influenced by other children using overlays to test the child actually try their favourite colours they actually maybe more comfortable to look at, maybe a good idea asking them their favourite football team Richmond tigers for me black and yellow football jersey colours, favourite colour being yellow not for any benefit just that I like tigers. Then red because it goes faster Ferrari. Fire and it's dangerous just what a regular boy likes. But that was me not all children will be the same. At 42 with a blue purple 5:3 combination overlay the effects were dramatic black been significant boulder darker not just a Dark slightly fuzzy Grey. Causing me to read letter by letter word by word once memorized, making it impossible to read fluently still not quite sure what that is. I've never had any kind of pronunciation lessons so just go mispronunciation words all the time because that's what I heard not read. Pacific specific took my 30 years to get that right that's to a friend, Sheep metal/ sheet metal yes quite funny no one actually picked up on it thank god 😁 P.s. have to use speech recognition so all the grammar mistakes are not all mine.
