This fan is not 'into' senseless "action" and effectism for that, there's Marvel. Star Wars is about storytelling, action and battles making a point to the story, so I don't know if I'm thrilled about this all too much. I just want Luke back alive and well.

It doesn't take much to fix this movie. I'm sure a little editing would impress even the biggest hater. I just need them to remove Canto Bight, not make Luke a coward, explain in a logical way why Rey is so powerful that honors the already established SW lore, make the 1st order less powerful, make the Resistance stronger as we see at the end of TFA, make Rose Tico a meaningful character, advance the character arc of Rey, Finn, and Kylo, fix the character arc of Poe, remove all the ill timed humor that undercut serious scenes, make Snoke live up to all the incredible power he's shown to have, make Yoda character behave in a way that's consistent with the OT and prequels, make Phasma useful, make DJ useful, Make General Hux competent(again), oh and make Hans death actually matter to people in this film. I'm sure it's doable for the home version.

It's a shame Rian Johnson missed so many opportunities to make this movie SO MUCH MORE interesting. The whole Canto Bite sequence was a stop gap in the film and such a waste. I didn't mind Rose and I liked the Porgs, but the movie just missed. Period. Rian Johnson swung for the fence and he missed. I'm starting to buy into the theories coming from people saying Kathleen Kennedy doesn't get it but the one person that does is Feloni. This can be difficult because it is hard not to throw opinions into the mix but I have done it before and so can you. We all agree it's a well made movie but please tell me why the story is bad. The preview for the book said that some deleted scences took place in Canto Bight and will be included in the book. I love deleted scences. It shows the important background story.
When we, the fans, go to see Solo, Ep IX, and Kenobi (and we know we will), we can still hit Disney where it hurts: 1) DO NOT go on opening weekend. This will leave them unable to brag about high opening weekend ticket sales. 2) Go to a matinee. Early shows usually cost less. This will directly affect Disney's profits (if you want, you can buy some popcorn to support the theatre directly for their lost revenue). The Force will be with us.

Disney isn't acknowledging the backlash. The company that produced the new trailer has just created one that bears even less resemblance to the actual film in order to hide the issues that criticism has exposed. The trailer producers have done a good job. It actually looks like a traditional Star Wars movie with a totally different tone to that of the actual film. It's not quite as misleading as the trailers for Suicide Squad, but it is a pretty good disguise.
It's not that they are listening to the fans, it's that they had to make a heavily altered trailer to make it look "epic" so people who hadn't seen the movie would buy it in the first place. Mark Hamill tried warning everybody about the film before it released, and by God no one listened.

If Luke and Snoke had survived to battle in Ep.9 , then I think the film would be fine. But because the two most powerful characters were killed off so disrespectfully, it completely kills any excitement moving forward. Not we just Rey and Kylo, who are just not as appealing.
Canto bight was about establishing Rose and her journey. She learned to let go of the place she grew up in. Gosh I hope Luke has a better situation in 9. I enjoyed 8, but I don't like how they push so hard to diminish him to establish the younger characters.

Booruvcheek Yoda established that Force Ghosts can impact the physical world, so my hope is that he and Luke had a good talk after the whole tree lighting ceremony thingy. He also hit Luke in the head with his cane. I'm holding out for Luke to have a roll bigger than a force ghost cameo.

I enjoyed TLJ more than TFA, the only thing I really hated & saw as pointless is Captain Phasma. Just why is she even a character? TLJ has so much to do to get rid of a lot of stuff from 7, but for me Johnson did a great job overall!

I'm gonna' be okay with the Canto Bight scenes, as much as it is the weakest part of TLJ. If I can look past the dumb aspects of The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, I'll certainly be able to do the same with TLJ's Canto Bight scenes.

Jay Lawrence That was one of the best parts of TLJ. I liked Rey's scenes with Luke on Ahch-To, especially when Rey believed the Jedi Order needed to return (quite naive on her part), while Luke Skywalker was the opposite as he acknowledged the flaws that the Jedi have harbored during the time of the Clone Wars.
They can focus on the film’s positive points through the trailer all they want, but the facts are that the film still sucks. And I doubt that those who. Watched it in theatres won’t be shelling out more money to watch it again.
I'm not opposed to the backlash, because I don't have reason to see TLJ as a good story. However, I don't reject the film either because it can create all of the following ideas . . 1) God dies outside of their body, so that magic can be shared inside reality 2) Absence gets a location by attacking itself 3) Safety destroys danger, so that safety can be exposed as the true source of danger 4) Unification loses its value, so that reality can experience the original unification of its history All in all, the film has a great atmosphere, but it's the flaw of having a great atmosphere as a compensation for the lack of story. The atmosphere is a "specific reaction" to the absence of plot, which dooms the film to being a work in progress
There is an alternate take: the movie is about the value of atmosphere existing because of nothing. So the lack of story that I originally referenced exists on purpose, for the sake of creating great atmosphere. An example is Canto Bight: Canto Bight is a pointless story, yet the pointlessness is for the sake of the sweetness of when Rose interacts with the caged animals. The sweetness of the animals greeting Rose was included on purpose, as a commentary on the immorality of plot
I personally don't understand all the hate going towards The Last Jedi. Yes, I can understand why people are upset, but by now it just seems pointless...yes people have their own preferences, but there isn't a good reason for people to get so angry at each other, Star Wars, Rian Johnson and the actors because of this movie. I wish more of us would just take a second and think about how much time, effort and love went into making TLJ. And after all...it's ONLY a movie. This isn't some big real issue we should get worked up about, there's enough of that. Star Wars should be a safe place, not a hostile one. I can only hope the hate dies down...

I sometimes sit when I pee, sometimes I stand when I pee, depends on circumstances. the force, like God, is neither just male or female, but encompasses all, duh. pls ppl sometimes are too narrow-minded. and for anyone wondering about Rey's ability to defeat Kylo in the Force Awakens, he let her. yes he had been weakened by killing his father, but his goal was not to kill Rey, and the novelization makes it clear he could have killed her and chose not to. TLJ novelization touches on how she became strong, skilled, so quickly, and it isn't due to a feminist agenda. Read it, some of us may learn something.

The things that Kathleen Kennedy has set in motion can't be undone. No matter how many of the ridiculous scenes they delete. It was the same crap when EA took the Loot Boxes out of Star Wars Battlefront 2. i thought the 2nd trailer we got was great. it had me excited for TLJ. It was a serious/dark trailer. I believe they swindled us in that area. the movie was promoted nothing like it was in the theater. I tried to watch TLJ again, and by the time SUPERMAN LEIA happened, I was done with it for good. I am surprised I lasted that long. I wanted to find something good out of it, but its not just a horrible STAR WARS movie. Its bad film making all around.

I think it sucked I liked it a little when I first watched it mainly kylo but I like it less every day let's be real luke was disgraced the whole movie mist fans expected his death not being a broken disgrace of a man over a thought that's the best they could do he thought about killing kylo and then smok the guy everyone has been talking about dies on some cheap ass bullshit maby the fans wouldn't be made if luke went out to take snoke with him but no it's about the new characters I understand Disney wants to promote new characters to new fans but star wars has had a huge standing fan base for years and it's a shame to se them forgotten it makes you realize it's nothing but a money grab to Disney hype every old fan out there about luke so they get everyone else hyped and all the new fans are like what I don't see what's wroung smh

To call star wars a dumpster fire would be a complement at this point.
Disney isn't acknowledging the backlash. The company that produced the new trailer has just created one that bears even less resemblance to the actual film in order to hide the issues that criticism has exposed.
The trailer producers have done a good job. It actually looks like a traditional Star Wars movie with a totally different tone to that of the actual film. It's not quite as misleading as the trailers for Suicide Squad, but it is a pretty good disguise.
It's not that they are listening to the fans, it's that they had to make a heavily altered trailer to make it look "epic" so people who hadn't seen the movie would buy it in the first place. Mark Hamill tried warning everybody about the film before it released, and by God no one listened.

If Luke and Snoke had survived to battle in Ep.9 , then I think the film would be fine. But because the two most powerful characters were killed off so disrespectfully, it completely kills any excitement moving forward.

Canto bight was about establishing Rose and her journey. She learned to let go of the place she grew up in. Gosh I hope Luke has a better situation in 9. I enjoyed 8, but I don't like how they push so hard to diminish him to establish the younger characters.
Jake Skywalker She saved Finn, so that's the point of her character lol. She was ok with me. Again, I wish the new Star Wars wasn't about getting rid of everything old to establish the younger characters.

And no, Force Ghost are not exactly known to be a big part of any SW movie plot (Yoda calling lightning from the sky is the most they've ever interacted with material world AFAIK).
Booruvcheek Yoda established that Force Ghosts can impact the physical world, so my hope is that he and Luke had a good talk after the whole tree lighting ceremony thingy. He also hit Luke in the head with his cane. I'm holding out for Luke to have a roll bigger than a force ghost cameo.

TLJ has so much to do to get rid of a lot of stuff from 7, but for me Johnson did a great job overall!

I'm gonna' be okay with the Canto Bight scenes, as much as it is the weakest part of TLJ. If I can look past the dumb aspects of The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, I'll certainly be able to do the same with TLJ's Canto Bight scenes.

That was one of the best parts of TLJ. I liked Rey's scenes with Luke on Ahch-To, especially when Rey believed the Jedi Order needed to return (quite naive on her part), while Luke Skywalker was the opposite as he acknowledged the flaws that the Jedi have harbored during the time of the Clone Wars.
They can focus on the film’s positive points through the trailer all they want, but the facts are that the film still sucks. And I doubt that those who. Watched it in theatres won’t be shelling out more money to watch it again.
I'm not opposed to the backlash, because I don't have reason to see TLJ as a good story. However, I don't reject the film either because it can create all of the following ideas . .
1) God dies outside of their body, so that magic can be shared inside reality
2) Absence gets a location by attacking itself
3) Safety destroys danger, so that safety can be exposed as the true source of danger
4) Unification loses its value, so that reality can experience the original unification of its history
All in all, the film has a great atmosphere, but it's the flaw of having a great atmosphere as a compensation for the lack of story. The atmosphere is a "specific reaction" to the absence of plot, which dooms the film to being a work in progress

There is an alternate take: the movie is about the value of atmosphere existing because of nothing. So the lack of story that I originally referenced exists on purpose, for the sake of creating great atmosphere.
An example is Canto Bight: Canto Bight is a pointless story, yet the pointlessness is for the sake of the sweetness of when Rose interacts with the caged animals. The sweetness of the animals greeting Rose was included on purpose, as a commentary on the immorality of plot

I personally don't understand all the hate going towards The Last Jedi. Yes, I can understand why people are upset, but by now it just seems pointless...yes people have their own preferences, but there isn't a good reason for people to get so angry at each other, Star Wars, Rian Johnson and the actors because of this movie. I wish more of us would just take a second and think about how much time, effort and love went into making TLJ. And after all...it's ONLY a movie. This isn't some big real issue we should get worked up about, there's enough of that. Star Wars should be a safe place, not a hostile one. I can only hope the hate dies down...

If this home release erases rose/canto bight, gives Rey training flaws and challenges to overcome, then erases the weaponization of light speed, stop making Poe look like a bitch, erase the milk chugging scene, erase purple hair social studies teacher, and have Luke die in actual combat then MAYBE I’ll buy it

Nothing is "proven" or "fact" about this movie. You probably think the prequel trilogy was good, which would be quite telling. Those were absolute garbage. I've seen movies with ratings under 4/10 with $1M or less budget that were better.

I sometimes sit when I pee, sometimes I stand when I pee, depends on circumstances. the force, like God, is neither just male or female, but encompasses all, duh. pls ppl sometimes are too narrow-minded. and for anyone wondering about Rey's ability to defeat Kylo in the Force Awakens, he let her. yes he had been weakened by killing his father, but his goal was not to kill Rey, and the novelization makes it clear he could have killed her and chose not to. TLJ novelization touches on how she became strong, skilled, so quickly, and it isn't due to a feminist agenda. Read it, some of us may learn something.

The way they promote the movie and star wars in general is never the way it turns out. Star wars needs to look at the animation series and video games for inspiration. I want the coolness of star wars to translate to the big screen. I definitely did not get that from TLJ.

i thought the 2nd trailer we got was great. it had me excited for TLJ. It was a serious/dark trailer. I believe they swindled us in that area. the movie was promoted nothing like it was in the theater. I tried to watch TLJ again, and by the time SUPERMAN LEIA happened, I was done with it for good. I am surprised I lasted that long. I wanted to find something good out of it, but its not just a horrible STAR WARS movie. Its bad film making all around.

I've seen good trailers for Ewe Boll movies. Although, Rian is not quite as good as Ewe (yes, I meant that), I don't want to insult Ewe by comparing him to the worst director who ever lived.

I don’t hate TLJ at first viewing I did, but then I honestly asked myself why, it was because I spent 2 years after TFA speculating cool theories and drooling over any new expounded question (who’s snoke, who’s Rey, what will luke do in the VIII, etc) Once I let go of this I saw TLJ in its brilliance. Unfortunately it was your own expectations that ruined TLJ and lack of vision. Star Wars isn’t ruined for true fans.
