There is often a lot of confusion regarding prescription drug withdrawal and how a person can heal from the experience. In this video, I break the concept and process of healing down into a simple equation that will help you to move forward in a productive and positive manner.
As someone who experienced antidepressant withdrawal and benzodiazepine withdrawal after quitting Paxil and Xanax more than a decade ago (and as someone who has coached many others through the process), I know that there is power in simplicity and mindset. After watching this video about the healing equation, I invite you to register for my Healing Mindset online course. This one-of-a-kind course presents an encouraging and powerful approach to healing through 36 video lessons and a variety of worksheets and supplemental materials.
The Healing Mindset has already helped many who are going through a taper or withdrawal experience. Join us today to see how it can help you!

11 months off benzos for me! This equation truly is the key to success. Thank you Michael!
Congratulations can't wait to be there im barely month one of tapering my benzo and it is truly one of the hardest things ever😢....
You're so welcome for the video. Great, great work. Keep it up!
@@Itslorena_618 Hard, but worth it. Keep it up!
@@TheLovelyGrind thank you im barely 3 weeks in and it is very painful from Xanax 😔 idk how to keep pushing half of me wants to give up
By far the most positive benzo coach and benzo videos out there. This is what people need more of: hope and positivity.
Thanks!
I absolutely agree! I am 18 months off of all psych meds. This included Lexapro, Xanax, and trazodone.
Huge congratulations on your accomplishments. 18 months off is a great achievement!
Very encouraging video. We all need an equation for healing.
Time + self care + self work= healing, Good! Please elaborate some self work more.
And what about the coping strategies about weird thoughts, fear of being out of mind, intense anxiety, and other debilitating mental stuff?
If we could pass that turmoil, than only these three factors will help.
Practice relaxation techniques every single day for as long as it takes. Some days I had to do 3 hours of relaxation. It eventually followed me in my daily life and I keep practicing relaxation to this day. Figure out what coping strategies work for you. I use yoga, deep breathing, and mindfulness meditation. No one is going to write your story for you. It’s your journey - take control of it.
@@fittyleben9680 can you please guide me how to do the relaxation techniques? I don't know about the process, please give me some details.
Try out Michael's healing mindset course. It's helped me alot with the symptoms your talking about. Wishing you all the best on your healing journey. 💞
Basically, anything that will help to relax the mind will help a person to cope - with any and all of the things you mention. This could include so many things, the key is to find what works for you. What people, ideas, activities, exercises, and content help to reduce your fear and put your heart and mind in a better spot? Perhaps ask yourself this question, and make it a point to do more of these things (and to avoid things that do the opposite and create more fear and anxiety). Take the equation I mention here, and then fill in what the "self-care" and "self-work" portions mean for you, personally. Take care today and keep moving forward.
@@TheLovelyGrind very much helpful. Thanks 🙏
Many thanks once again to you Michael. Yes I find self care very important in my recovery, keeping myself clean and putting effort into making myself look nice already makes me feel better even in dark times. Exercise too is a major part of my recovery. I go to aqua fit classes twice a week and have 45 minutes in gym with my son who is a personal trainer. I sometimes have to force myself to do these things but I push through and am ALWAYS glad that I have as afterwards I feel so much better. I am 75 and have almost completed 5 full months completely free of anti depressants. Thanks to yourself and other utubers I have come this far 🙏🏼
You are a major success story, and I can tell you're motivated to keep improving and growing. That is the correct approach. Keep up the awesome work, and keep watching. You're doing great!
Thanks Michael, great advice and very true. Self work is a really important part of healing and I am grateful to be part of your healing mindset course because it's helped me alot with this, thank you .Currently I'm working on trust, trusting God and that life can be wonderful. Healing wishes and God bless to All 💞
Thank you for the comments, Kelly. You are making such great progress. You've gotten off the meds, and have always been willing to put in the work. It's been awesome having you in Support & Success, and in the Healing Mindset. You are making such great progress. Keep it up, keep God close by and involved in all plans, and here's to big things in 2024!
@@TheLovelyGrindThank you 💗 and Yes here's to big things in 2024!
Hi Michael. I'm just checking in here on the comments to your video to share some good news. The healing that you found and promised would come for all of us has come to me. I am here to share some evidence of healing. I have healed after 5 and a half years off the ssri that i was taking. Michael your videos were the single biggest thing that helped me get here, particularly because your story was evidence of healing. All of my symptoms have gone now and i am through the other side. I really feel like I have found the light at the end of the tunnel. Michael was right when he said that we would find healing, i have found healing now and i truly believe everyone will if they stick with it and don't go back to the medication. I just want to thank you for the videos Michael as I am incredibly grateful, i can't tell you how much it helped. I'll be eternally grateful for the help you've given me and others. It has helped me get to this point where I am now where I've found healing and I am now living a happy and healthy life. Everyone reading this, please know that Michael is right, and you will all find healing for yourselves as well.
Thanks so much for taking the time to check in here, Joseph! I am so happy for you, and I thank you for the kind words about how my videos have helped a bit along the way. I know that others will see your comment and take encouragement from it as well. Here's to all of your hard work and healing. God bless your path going forward, and feel free to check in with more encouraging updates and insights at any time!
Thank you Michael. I have commented on your videos before during some of the more difficult times and I always really appreciated your responses. I am so proud to become part of the evidence of healing and I will always follow your channel and tell others about the positive message that is out there. I had all of those terrible symptoms but I have healed now and I feel so blessed and grateful. To everyone out there who is struggling, please remember that healing does happen. It happened for me and Michael and many others and it will happen for you too. Stick with it and keep watching the content from The Lovely Grind. If you do that then you will find healing and it will be absolutely amazing for you when you do 🙂
Thank you, Michael. 1 month off of Sertraline now. Even longer for other meds I was on. Your support is very much appreciated!
Keep up the great work!
18 months off feel better now
Withdrawal to ssri is hell
Congrats on 18-months off, glad to hear you are doing better. Stay encouraged!
Hi Michael. Thanks for bringing awareness to our struggles. I was on lexapro for 10 years and quit cold turkey. I then tried to start it again and had a terrible adverse reaction. A psychiatrist then poly drugged me for a year on 6 different AD’s and benzos. This was a horrific time with akathisia and insomnia and depression.
I have been off meds now for 3.5 years. I have improved but feel like I’ve lost a part of me forever. I get bad tinnitus or head buzzing which is better on some days but still awful most nights.
Do you believe these physical symptoms can still improve after all this time? I just don’t want to spend my whole life with this screaming noise in my head.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and g’day from Australia 🇦🇺
I'm sorry to hear about all you've been through. Yes I believe improvements can and will still come for you. Be patient. Just as other things have improved, these things can as well. Care for yourself physically, find ways to reduce stress and inflammation, stay hopeful and determined. More healing will come your way! Congrats on being off all the meds, by the way. Keep at it!
@@TheLovelyGrind Thanks so much for the encouragement and support.
I'm 6 months off short term polydrugging, CT after 15 days. I'm in hell and days from ending it... what can I do

Please tell me I will make it. Mirtazapine withdrawal 2 months and so excruciating.
You will make it!!
Hold on day by day, hour by hour ❤
Useful and very positive video!
The healing equation seems to be perfect and assuring. But now when I am 6 months off xanax, the high level of stress due to family issues increase my symptoms severely.
Do you think stress can increase mental symptoms also? Will it delay or slow down our healing?
Stress certainly interacts with symptoms, no doubt. A part of this is an easily triggered stress response with more pronounced effects. Best to mitigate and manage stress as best as possible. But everyone has some, no matter where it comes from. It won't prevent healing, but best to take steps to reduce it where possible!
@@TheLovelyGrind thanks for replying. You are so much helpful in every step during this difficult and frightening journey of withdrawal.
Now I am 14 months off xanax, but far from feeling normal again. Head pains, body pains, weird thoughts, extreme tiredness and other debilitating symptoms are horrible.
Do you feel healed fully or normal again after so many years?
Worsening though only took these poison for 2 months. Brain showing random images non stop. How?
Paxil ans xanax 38 years. One week hosp taper. Doc was wrong....
Hi Michael, I have just found this wonderful channel! My need for SSRIs (Sertraline) began to subside when I came to faith in 2019, I began getting terrible migraines and found after forgetting to take my medication for a few days the migraines would subside, I tried reducing my medication and that worked until I had migraines again then reduced again. I am finally off the medication and I used Methylene Blue after 2 weeks without them to help with. The withdrawal, I am about 10 weeks into withdrawal, I still have morning anxiety and I've been dealing with terrible brain fog and fatigue, is it normal for the brain fog to last, I used to have it coming off the medication in the past and I'm hoping it will subside soon.
Yes, brain fog totally normal at this stage. That will get better. Time, diet, and exercise will all help with this. God bless and keep up the progress!
@TheLovelyGrind Thank you dear brother! Today has been a little better I supplemented some methylene blue and that's helped quite a lot. There are ups and downs to the healing process I'm sure. God bless you brother! 🙌
