Rad Relocate install on Can-Am Outlander

  • What's up guys!
    I've had just about enough of my Can Am Outlander overheating on me. The slanted design of the Outlander rad makes it a mud magnet and gives no way of washing it from the backside. So, enough is enough! Rubberdown Customs hooked me up with a relocation kit that will be my saving grace. I'll go over the basics of the install and let you know what hang ups I faced along the way. ENJOY!

    the radiator is actually really well designed to clean it out when washing your atv. i relocated mine as of now, but when removing it, none of the fins were coated. Which is hard to believe with how much i go rack deep in mud lol.

      @@OutlandyAndy Yes sir! You're welcome my friend.
      I just purchased a 2019 outlander Max xt 850 and it hasn't seen mud yet, just a lot of snow here in Colorado and I too noticed it to run hot. Thanks for the heads up Andy.

    So got this kit in. Will do this tomorrow. Glad I found your video others take whole front clip off which I know you dont need to. Im going to run ICE in mine which will help for sure. Other side note. GSE EXHAUST is amazing for our bikes. Mine is the same just a MAX L DPS longer wheelbase. But it's a different exhasut than hmf and to keep better cleaner welds no rivets anywhere which tells me better manufacturing. Anyway my 2 cents. THANKS for your video I will use it step by step tomorrow

    I just purchased the RDC kit for my wheeler. My opinion, it’s way better than other kits available!
    Does that ATV not have an over-flow bottle?
    Great video! Definitely gonna help me install mine as the instructions online don’t discuss the rad mounting. Thanks for the efforts in putting this together! That rad was NASTY before cleaning, worst I’ve seen!

      Brandon T the overflow is under the plastics near the cluster. Didn’t have to relocate it, but bleeding the system is a little harder.
      Yeah you don’t realize what’s in the rad until you can actually get it out and look through.

    Hey Andy!
    I ordered a relocate today from Rubberdown. I was just looking for any tips regarding filling with coolant after the install. Did u fill both the reservoir and at the highest point. And how did u manage to ensure all the air was out?
    Thanks in advance

      Chris Upton I filled from the top elbow joint. There is a bleeder screw on the water pump, your owners manual will have the bleeding procedure in it.

      @@OutlandyAndy and you didn't have any problems with the overflow at the reservoir?

    • @OutlandyAndy
      @OutlandyAndy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope, just make sure the reservoir is toped up to the fill line after you fill from the top

      I had the same issue. I had to break one of them off. With the rubber down kit they aren’t reused anyway.

    Now that you've rode with the rad up top, do you feel the heat off it?

    • @OutlandyAndy
      @OutlandyAndy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you do but it’s not too bad. When your going at a good speed you can’t feel it at all, but when your crawling through a trail and the fan kicks in you feel it pretty good.

    Here is a funny one for you: I bought a fairly new XMR 1000 with a factory installed snorkel and relocated rad and I want to get rid of the mud breather because I need a front cargo rack. After seeing all these mud plugged rads I am a little hesitant though to relocate the thing to down low from its nice clean top position. Is there any way to keep that thing half ass clean in its low locale other than only taking the unit to church on Sunday?

    • @OutlandyAndy
      @OutlandyAndy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      awalt26439 not that I know of. When it’s below there is no real access to the back of the rad.

      I am seriously thinking about relocating my xmr rad back down below, did you do that yet? My riding style has changed and I just don’t have the need for a rad relocate as much as I do for a front rack.

    How did you get the air out ?

    • @OutlandyAndy
      @OutlandyAndy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fill the coolant from the highest part of the rad then use the bleeder screw on the water pump to bleed any air that may still be in there.
