As soon as I found the Summoner archetype, I was locked the fuck in. I started looking for all kinds of synergies to make my little meatballs do work. Then I unlocked the big Root Reaver summon at level 10 and suddenly I was a backup dancer to my BIG BOI doing big damage. I'd let him run in, take the aggro and drop all kinds of support mods from my guns and utility buffs from my Handler secondary archetype. Then when playing through the second DLC, I found an amulet that gave my pet a TON of extra damage and some movement speed, but lowered my Damage Reduction considerably. So now I was a glass support protecting my even beefier boi. THEN later on, I accidentally stumbled upon an event that allowed me to change that amulet into a different form that got rid of the negative, and gave even more movement speed. And now boi moves like a fucking olympic sprinter when it's time to beat some shitty fae. This all hapened organically as I played the game. And that's just one possible build path. You could stumble across anything and decide "This is my flavour" then every new ring/amulet/weapon/etc. you find is another chance at new synergies, new powerups, new playstyles to augment that. Genuinely a once in a generation game experience.
Almost 400 hours in the game since launch, and its hands down one of my favorite games ever. This game is the perfect example of getting back what you put into it. You can run through the campaign, not exploring, thinking everything is gonna be obvious, and then get upset when you didn't find too much, or are using the same weapon and armor you started with 10 hours in. OR you take your time, you explore more fully, maybe use a touch of curiosity and thinking and wil be surprised at just how many things you can find, weapons, rings, amulets, armor, relics, everything really. It's such a complete and full game, for beyond fair pricing as well.
Happy traveling! ;) The protagonist of each game in the series has a title: Chronos = The Destroyer (The Destroyer might also be The Dreamer in Remnant 1) Remnant = The Wanderer Remnant 2 = The Traveler
There's no "might" about it. It's been confirmed that The Dreamer is The Destroyer. I'll see if I can find the source, but I know it's been confirmed by Gunfire before.
this is the reason I love remnant 2 and the reason I got into destiny 2 as well (before bungie decided "you know what, gazillion microtransactions") mage + shooter is one of the most fun playstyles ever I absolutely love that I can cast spells while also wielding guns (the engineer class still casts spells since you conjure a turret from nothing)
I absolutely adore this game, and it was the true GoTY for me last year, it's got all the best aspects of shooters with none of the drawbacks, the bosses are souls tear excellent for the most part, and I love the build variety. For instance, when I first saw merciless, the weapon seemed terrible, but for whatever reason, I was determined to make a powerful bleed build with it. It is now my main gun and I went through a whole apoc run with it, because the game allows you so much build freedom and allows you to make anything work.
Rem2 is an amazing game. I love how there are classes like the Trainer and Summoner that cater to solo players like me, but there are also things like Medic or Alchemist that cater to coop play.
As someone who played the first Remnant and Remnant 2 at launch, this is a pretty good summary. It also has probably the most supportive and helpful community of any online game. A lot of veterans who love the game and love to help out others.
Me and two buddy's played this non stop on launch. Beat the game and immediately jumped back in on the next hardest play through and started min maxing builds. We even knocked out a hardcore run for the gun and ring rewards, i'm so hyped for DLC 3 and glad to see others talking about this game.
Remnant: From The Ashes is the true underrated gem, especially for what it accomplished when it came out. Oh and survival mode is endless fun too. Remnant 2 is cool but 1 will always be my favorite.
I played this game when it first came out to completion. I was checking community posts for new secrets and hidden bits every week and seeing it still go strong with the DLC releases is amazing! I havent played any of the DLC yet, but i certainly will when i can afford to :D
It is very very well known. Mostly for being an incredibly mid game that its rabid fanbase props up to high heavens despite no one else understanding why.
This game is a love letter so many different genres. You can tell the devs crafted each world with so much passion and attention to detail. It’s also a thing of beauty that the game has no in game store for DLC or micro-transactions. Truly an amazing game, and of course it’s Gunfire Games behind this masterpiece.
Remnant From The Ashes is one of the most underrated games of all time, I loved every second of it, when Remannt 2 was announced I got really hyped and at launch the game was not very good, there was a lot of optimization issues, but after some time and some mods it became my most played game on steam alongside Borderlands 3 They picked up all the great things in Remnant From The Ashes and improved a lot, the game has a huge build diversity and with the new dlc it will increase even more. Gunfire games really made a real gem in the industry that maybe its not for everyone but for those who like RPG Shooters its a feast
I feel this way about Remnant 2 as well. The game is SO well balanced around making you feel like you are constantly finding worthwhile upgrades to your character. Too many games have failed at this.
It really is an absolute masterpiece. I’ve never loved a game as much as I love remnant: from the ashes…. And remnant II blows it out of the water. Cleaner gun play, smoother mechanics, INSANE build crafting, endless replay-ability, and on par with Elden ring for boss designs. It truly is a genre defining game. And the BIGGEST change to the game comes tomorrow with the 3rd DLC, which is going to turn this game from a 10/10 to at least a 14/10 😂 Can’t fkn wait!
As someone who spent tons of time on remnant 1, remnant 2 was a perfect sequel. I wish it had 1's roguelike mode that was introduced later. That's my only request for any future update. Starting at 0 and getting "power ups" at check points was so fun. And you get to practically make a new build every run. Fingers crossed they add it to remmy2
I just finished my first playthrough solo and my first co op playthrough yesterday. Im loving this game, and the fact that its crossplay. My best friend and i have been trying to find a crossplay game and this has been just perfect
Hey Man, I had hear of the game before, and only glanced at it with disinterest. But after you explained the mechanics and the systems around it, I gave it a go and am also in disbelief that it would have been possible for me to never have played this game at all! Thanks for reviewing this game GaijinHunter!
I have been spreading the gospel of this game for almost a year now. And everytime i convinced a friend to get it (and thats by offering to do a full playthru with them) they tell me a little while later "how did I not hear about this game, its sooooo good". Also this was my personal goty last year.
Dot builds for life!!! I just came here to gush over this game. It’s amazing! New dlc dropping soon so if your haven’t played it, it’s the perfect time to do so. 10/10 Masterpiece
I am SO suprised that almost nobody knows about this games existence. I went in almost blind with a buddy and it was so fun! I'm kinda a completionist so I did my best to get all the items possible, and is kinda whats still keeping me going. I even played the 3rd DLC like day 2 because I heard it was out, wasn't even following along. Just wish more people gave it attention.
Played the shit out of the first game, Remnant from the Ashes. Now I'm playing Remnant 2 on PC with my friend who has it on PS5. Really enjoying it. I've unlocked everything the game has to offer and I've made so many builds the build tabs are not enough anymore. 😅 Great video! Keep up the good work!
While I disagree for playing "forever". It is definitely finite as I am nearing the end of all the potential items I can collect. That said, I absolutely love this game. I bought this game with no knowledge of the series didn't come in with any expectations. Easily one of my favorite games. The amount you can do it huge and is a blast to play. I've spent countless hours making fun builds. It's right up there in difficulty that I enjoy too. As a MH fan, it definitely scratches that similar itch.
This game really is a blast there’s a ton of content and replay ability with so many fun secrets to find and builds to make, I’m really hoping this last dlc and especially the boss rush mode add that final bit of “endgame” that the game didn’t really have besides doing apocalypse of each of the worlds and a hardcore run
I do agree, Remnant 2 is quite an amazing game and the best modern coop shooter I have played since Left4Dead 2. I will add that Space Marine 2 is not far behind Remnant 2 and although I don't think it will catch Remnant 2 even after season updates, I could see a possible Space Marines 3 reaching that plateau. The gameplay is so refined in R2 and the manner in which the plethora of secrets are worked into mostly randomly generated levels should be looked at by all other devs in the genre. R2 also does a great job of allowing for a variety of endgame builds that are borderline broken. Do not sleep on Space Marine 2, it is a very similar game in many ways, and it reminds very much of where Remnant 1 was on release but with higher production values.
Remnant 2 is peak action rpg. Its fun, has shitloads of content and no adventure is like the other. There is still a lot to improve on that recipe, but that is what a solid, fun rpg looks like. I know one one day we will get AI generated campaigns. I just hope i will be alive then.
One thing not mentioned is the rewards that are exclusive to difficulty modes. For each of the harder difficulties, there is an exclusive long gun as well as a melee weapon for beating the game on them. So it's definitely worth doing the harder difficulties. Also, I play on PS5 and I've never once encountered any bugs or glitches outside of one for unlocking an archetype (basically your class). So it runs great on consoles too. Definitely worth the price of admission.
where have you been!!?? this is a classic by now with a great community. also there is HC mode for unique rewards and one of the most rewarding and tense experience in gaming in decades. also the devs are super activity on the discord
One cool difficulty adjusting mechanic is campaign re-rolling. On my first playthrough I chose nightmare and got hard stuck on a boss. I had the option to re-roll my campaign while keeping my character and loot. In this case you could lower difficulty, but instead I ran nightmare again, and got a different boss, but notably the gear I gained from both campaigns making it to the boss made it so I was able to clear where before I was too weak. It's such a unique and cool approach to difficulty that I've never seen anywhere else. If you enjoy the brutally hard games, I'd recommend trying out the higher difficulties blind for Rem2, because it has this option if you ever get truly stuck and it makes every single encounter tense and every piece of loot meaningful.
Almost happened to me was on veteran buy my second boss was red prince which I didn't get enough coins and his modifiers gave him elemental resist and regeneration. Had to learn to dodge every attack while using any item that gave hp regeneration
Having played the game a decent amount of time on XBOX Series X, I can tell you that outside of some very minor glitches (that didn't really affect gameplay at all), the game performed perfectly for me and my friends. We were even playing co-op in a team of 3, where one of us has terrible Internet, and there were still pretty much 0 bugs. I can't wait to see what comes with the DLC tomorrow, and even though it might be a couple of years away, I can only imagine how insane Remnant 3 could be. Easily one of the best and most fun multiplayer games I've ever played. I would recommend it to everybody 👍
Ahh the game is so good. I really really just enjoyed this game and you put a lot of what Ive loved about it into words. I find myself always coming back to it. Its just a comfortable game to pick up and play. Fun with no investment just diving into coop or rerolling a world. And fun with high investment trying to get a complete build and run going. Its just plain good fun. The games made to be fun first. Really happy this game series is a thing and hope we see a third or a proper full sized expansion in the future!
I have recently discovered this game and have been playing it with a friend. I absolutely love it so far and am looking forward to the DLC. I play medic with some shield generation and a ring that gives me regen when I have a shield. Mainly survival and some team support. As I am also a hunting horn main. This is just what I like to do. Don't out shoot just out live.
This is one of my favorite games in a while. Last really notable games for me were Witcher 3 and GoT as being a Witcher or samurai was a lot of fun. This game got me sold since first game put 500 hours in helping people and playing all the content in the game. Still missing some traits and mods and what not too. There's so much hidden stuff in this game which makes it so enjoyable. Can't wait for Tuesday dlc launch
I'm so ready for the DLC/Expansion coming out tomorrow.. its by far one of my favorite co-op games of all times. Its a perfect blend of dark souls with guns but with its own identity. A hidden gem for most.
Bro, I resumed playing this game again with my buddy just last night haha Loved the first one, and while I enjoyed the bosses more in the first game, I can't deny they improved a lot upon their first entry.
I'm really surprised to hear so much praise for this game coming from you Gaijin, I sunk about 200h into the first one and was super excited for this one, but on launch it was a mess, terrible optimization, lots of enemies had hitboxes that would make Freedom's Kutku feel balanced, devs kept changing around the max level and how many skills you could have and how many respecs you got, I honestly couldn't finish it, left it just before the final boss because I couldn't force myself to finish the game, but I might have to come back to it and give it a second chance
I played Remnant 2, but not entirely though. I found it fun, as I also played Remnant 1 (or Remnant of the ashes). But I kind of struggled with the "where to go and what to do" part of the game. I also felt overwhelmed because of a place I went to where I got my ass kicked, but I was almost fully upgraded, which was quite frustrating. But maybe I need to try it out again.
Both games scale the world to your level upon entering the world. I think the first game has icons to show if your armor/weapons are underleveled. If u upgraded your weapon to much without focusing on armor u might have started dieing easily
As amazing as this game is, its biggest flaw that is most likely a deal breaker for a lot of players is that it does not do a good job explaining the world scaling system. Each world and dungeon is scaled to your highest level weapons and archetype meaning if you have a level 10 shotgun primary weapon, and on your way you find another weapon, you would have to level it all the way up to 10 to keep up with the enemies, because they still scale to your highest level weapon even if it's uneuipped. If you give remnant 2 another try, i would suggest only leveling all your weapons to a certain level (for example, 5) until you have more abundant resources to go for higher levels for the challenge! Good luck!
@@Davenzoid You can downgrade your weapons now so if you want to switch to new weapons you can just lower the level of your previous weapons to make the enemies easier.
N"Erud is actually a Giant Construct, it's a Planet like Spaceship the Drzyr created to travel the Universe and find life, in their Universe they are the only life that exists they just didn't know.
To add a bit when they reached the center of the universe they entered the black hole. But due to relativity when they left the heat death of the universe had already ocured
My favorite game of all time for me. Im about to turn 32. This game, elden ring, Call of Duty, Halo. And ofcourse super mario and mario kart. All games ive invested more than 400hrs
Best explanation of the game I have seen and one of my favorite games to ever come out. I really hope they make more dlc and harder bosses with more mechanics. I want some true end game optional bosses that make annihilation look like a joke. I want a new class of elite enemy’s (ultras or something) that are harder random encounters to add into the hardest difficulty. Maybe like a tree centipede in yesha that when killed breaks into 2 root mantis. Or a flying jellyfish flower that when killed plants itself into the ground and sprouts an elite from the yesha dlc. I want more puzzle bosses like the lab sentinal and more to the lab in general. Maybe like a boss you need to fight while navigating a platform section with a portal puzzle all while dodging and shooting
Great vid. Agree upon all you points :) This game truly is a masterpiece that combines some of my favourite game features in one. I play on PS5 and performance is superb. Did notice some weird slow downs in the very last DLC but probably will be fixed in a patch
I feel like remnant 1 was shot in the foot so hard by the “dark souls with guns” attention it got in its initial coverage which was EXTREMELY reductive and doesn’t even come close to describing what that game was capable of. Remnant 1 was already amazing in so many ways and 2 deepened the build crafting to a massive degree and gave us more of the style of planets and bosses and secrets we’d come to love from the first. Couldnt ask for more (I miss Ward Prime though that’s still the coolest area for me).
Ahh well done Gaijin. I love you for the MH content. Glad to see that you enjoy my second favorite game (after MH series) as well. I feel like most people not know what Remnant 2 is and don't even give it a chance.
It's one of the coolest games to play. There is pretty much nothing like this on market that does everything so well. Just like baldurs gate 3 feels like peak of tactical RPG, remnant 2 feels like peek of action RPG whit rouge like on grander scale
This game LOVES to hide stuff from you and there are so many hidden little things, be it weapon, accessories or relics so if you're into finding everything you'll be playing forever. I respect that
The secrets in this game are like old school game secrets. One of those secrets is so obscure that I think it would be impossible to figure it out yourself.
I was already planning to play the 2 games together with a friend just for the "Souls Shooter" curiosity while browsing GamePass, then your twitter feed really hyped it to me, and now with this video, I need to inject remnant 2 directly on my veins ASAP.
The first Remnant is still a pretty good game but going from Remnant 1 to 2 is like jumping from Dark Souls 3 to Elden Ring, it's kinda more of the same but refined and expanded in every way possible.
I played the first game with friends and enjoyed it. I haven't tried 2 yet, but this glowing recommendation definitely bumped it up on my list. In the first, I primarily played with melee weapons, even though the game still seemed to overall want you to use guns. I'll have to see how melee builds work out in this...
I’ve watched youre other videos before but never expected this and it’s too funny because I’ve been considering this one for awhile now. Thanks for the great recommendation.
I know people dont like the class, but i only have 1 build alot left and at least 3 build slots that I used contain the summoner in one way or another. I even made a build using the Summoners prime perk that permanently increases the minions by 35% or something. My favourite build so far is either Engineer/Summoner. I have like 5 stacks of bullwark permanently or using Ritualist/Invoker.

166 started back in early August this year can't wait for the DLC tomorrow.
Happy traveling! ;) The protagonist of each game in the series has a title:
Chronos = The Destroyer (The Destroyer might also be The Dreamer in Remnant 1)
Remnant = The Wanderer
Remnant 2 = The Traveler
There's no "might" about it. It's been confirmed that The Dreamer is The Destroyer. I'll see if I can find the source, but I know it's been confirmed by Gunfire before.
Probably the best value game on the market including the DLC, definitely one of my favorite games of the last two years.
this is the reason I love remnant 2 and the reason I got into destiny 2 as well (before bungie decided "you know what, gazillion microtransactions") mage + shooter is one of the most fun playstyles ever I absolutely love that I can cast spells while also wielding guns (the engineer class still casts spells since you conjure a turret from nothing)
Couldn't agree more! Easily one of my favorite games for both single player and coop. It also has full crossplay which i greatly enjoy.
Me and two buddy's played this non stop on launch. Beat the game and immediately jumped back in on the next hardest play through and started min maxing builds. We even knocked out a hardcore run for the gun and ring rewards, i'm so hyped for DLC 3 and glad to see others talking about this game.
Hardcore anilation was terrifying thank God for coop on hardcore
Remnant: From The Ashes is the true underrated gem, especially for what it accomplished when it came out. Oh and survival mode is endless fun too. Remnant 2 is cool but 1 will always be my favorite.
Remnant 2 is awesome, but I still go back and do a run through RftA from time to time, it's like the video game equivalent of comfort food.
I played this game when it first came out to completion. I was checking community posts for new secrets and hidden bits every week and seeing it still go strong with the DLC releases is amazing! I havent played any of the DLC yet, but i certainly will when i can afford to :D
This game is outstanding and a crime that its not more well know. this game is real. thank you for shinning a light on it!
It is very very well known. Mostly for being an incredibly mid game that its rabid fanbase props up to high heavens despite no one else understanding why.
@@nexarath cool story bro
why play a souls like when I can just play a souls game that's 20x better. This is Temu Souls
@@GenDrake3 cool story bro
@@Liostro was just giving an explanation on why nobody cares about this game but ok chad
Look, I'll be brief, for me this game deserved the GOTY.
FAXXXX
I feel this way about Remnant 2 as well. The game is SO well balanced around making you feel like you are constantly finding worthwhile upgrades to your character. Too many games have failed at this.
It really is an absolute masterpiece.
I’ve never loved a game as much as I love remnant: from the ashes….
And remnant II blows it out of the water. Cleaner gun play, smoother mechanics, INSANE build crafting, endless replay-ability, and on par with Elden ring for boss designs.
It truly is a genre defining game. And the BIGGEST change to the game comes tomorrow with the 3rd DLC, which is going to turn this game from a 10/10 to at least a 14/10 😂
Can’t fkn wait!
Remnant 2 is a banger, the final boss was such a hype fight, currently working through the dlcs and they are so good
As someone who spent tons of time on remnant 1, remnant 2 was a perfect sequel. I wish it had 1's roguelike mode that was introduced later. That's my only request for any future update. Starting at 0 and getting "power ups" at check points was so fun. And you get to practically make a new build every run. Fingers crossed they add it to remmy2
This is always the game I play during Destiny downtime. Its seriously one of the most underrated game ever
Having heard so much good stuff from you and Rurikhan I have no choice but to get this game 😅
Wish I could play R2 for the first time again
THIS GAME is in fact an ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!!! I love this game. Remnant 1 to 2 was the same as the AC1 to AC2 leap.
Love to see you back, even if its just for a video. Love your voice, would watch any video from you
I have been spreading the gospel of this game for almost a year now.
10/10
Masterpiece
I am SO suprised that almost nobody knows about this games existence. I went in almost blind with a buddy and it was so fun! I'm kinda a completionist so I did my best to get all the items possible, and is kinda whats still keeping me going. I even played the 3rd DLC like day 2 because I heard it was out, wasn't even following along. Just wish more people gave it attention.
This game has a ton of milage with so many secrets and builds to work for. Love it.
Played the shit out of the first game, Remnant from the Ashes. Now I'm playing Remnant 2 on PC with my friend who has it on PS5. Really enjoying it. I've unlocked everything the game has to offer and I've made so many builds the build tabs are not enough anymore. 😅
Great video! Keep up the good work!
love this game and the 1st one. glad to see it on your radar. enjoying the video!
Played Helldivers, Space Marine 2, etc. Never found a more entertaining co op game than Remnant 2. Its Destiny shooter/ Souls like formula is amazing.
Love that you're playing this game and bringing more awareness to it. It sold well, but it deserves so much more. Also Sparkfire shotgun is OP
Ive ignored this game since release, but insta bought it off your your recommendation alone. Here hopin I like it!
where have you been!!?? this is a classic by now with a great community. also there is HC mode for unique rewards and one of the most rewarding and tense experience in gaming in decades. also the devs are super activity on the discord
This was my favorite game of last year. One of my all time favorites, at this point.
Remnant II with this new update will be the best coop game since Monster Hunter
The buildcrafting quality of this game is insane considering the action gameplay is ALSO top shelf.
I'm so ready for the DLC/Expansion coming out tomorrow.. its by far one of my favorite co-op games of all times.
Its a perfect blend of dark souls with guns but with its own identity. A hidden gem for most.
I absolutely LOVE this game!! I never bought the first one but Remnant 2 was highly recommended at launch and have not stopped playing this.
Bro, I resumed playing this game again with my buddy just last night haha
Loved the first one, and while I enjoyed the bosses more in the first game, I can't deny they improved a lot upon their first entry.
Remnant 2 is my favorite game of the last 10 years, and it’s not even close.
Replaying various times this game finding all the secrets and itens was super fun.
Great vid. Agree upon all you points :)
This game truly is a masterpiece that combines some of my favourite game features in one.
This game is included in the new Humble Monthly, and I'm definitely tempted to check it out after hearing about how much you liked it!
omg yes thank you for covering Remnant 2, especially right before the last DLC comes out!
My favorite game of all time. I’m about to be 30 and gamed since doom
Nice seeing you doing a Remnant 2 video. I love this game.
It's one of the coolest games to play. There is pretty much nothing like this on market that does everything so well. Just like baldurs gate 3 feels like peak of tactical RPG, remnant 2 feels like peek of action RPG whit rouge like on grander scale
Delighted you found and enjoyed this game - found it amazing both for solo-play and with friends. Enjoy the new expansion :D
Yup I have 32 more items to collect out of 751 items in the game pre dlc 3. Will be alot more after tomorrow lol. Have over 300 hours playtime.
one of my favourite games ever loved the first, and second was just even better
Loved the first one! Haven't played the sequel yet. I see a lot of returning mechanics. Remnant is my favorite Souls-like ever.
Remnant 2 is GOAT Status, especially once Dark Horizon and all the new DLC drops
Underrated for sure! Definitely worth playing.
I've never seen a game so randomized levels like this it's almost insane. I cannot wait for waiter Gunfire games makes next.
Heck yeah! This game is insanely good. I've enjoyed it so much more than I ever thought I would.
Great video!! I really hope they add a Rogue Like/ Lite feature to it sometime down the track, just as they did with the first Remnant.
So happy to see more people talking about Remnant 2.
Best game I’ve played in years. I have 100 hours so far and I’ve not finished all the DLC yet.
I’ve watched youre other videos before but never expected this and it’s too funny because I’ve been considering this one for awhile now. Thanks for the great recommendation.
Glad to see you posting again. Just in time for the new Wilds trailer !
Good job explaining this game, its one of my favorites and to me should be game of the year
I feel that it's a Soulsborne Shooter with really strong Warframe influence. Works quite nicely tbh.
I've been waiting for the final DLC to be released to experience the game in its final form and I look forward to finally jump in!
Their art team is exceptional.
Can wait to hear Rurikhan gush about this in the next third fleet podcast. Gunfire games has made an amazing game in both remnant 1 and 2 and I cant wait for the dlc to drop
