- Caitlin Hunter is our interview guest in Episode 41 of the Fruity Knitting Podcast. Caitlin is a relatively new designer on the handknitting scene but brings both qualifications and experience as a professional textiles designer. She released her first knitting pattern in March 2016 but is already gaining recognition as an exciting designer. We get a taste of Russia from Elena, our guest on Knitters of the World, and Valerie Hobbs of Laughingstar Knits brings us her latest design in New Releases. We talk about Wovember, learn about reinforcing steeks, and catch some wildlife on beautiful Bressay, an island just west of mainland Shetland.

This was the best podcast ever! Not only on your site, but of all podcasts out there! I was mesmerized! I was watching all your sweater changes so much, I don't even know what Andrew was talking about (sorry Andrew!) and was totally captivated. Andrea, you did a superb job of the editing! It was absolutely fantastic! I think you have out-done yourself this time -- how will you ever be able to top this?!? This whole episode was so very well planned out, from the writing, the direction, the editing -- the entire production was the best ever! This truly is the very best podcast on the net these days! So loved this episode. It took me a bit to catch onto the sweater changes! I actually said to myself “Wait a minute!” And backed up the video. So fun! Your extreme knitting segment has now put the beautiful Shetland on my “bucket list” if I ever become a world traveler. Thanks for bringing a bit of culture to my world!
I thoroughly enjoy your podcast, Andrea and Andrew. As a fairly new knitter (almost 2 years) and not a lot of projects under my belt, you always teach me so many new things. Really so beautiful. The way Andrea talks about her garment makes it seem so easy! My compliments to you both! The podcast is a treat to watch. I, by the way, tried brioche, but that was not a succes. So the hats Andrew made, is also a compliment! I will try brioche again! ☺️

I cannot say enough times how much I love your podcast! I’m so happy to see that many others have joined me on the patron list!! We need you two lovebirds to keep producing this top quality show!! Andrea, your hand knits are absolutely GORGEOUS! You are definitely an inspiration to all of us, inspiring people to be thoughtful with their knitting and to concentrate on fit. I have yet to make a garment that fits. I have very little time to spend on my needles, so if I am able to make two garments a year that would be a miracle. I like the neckline on Caitlin's speckled sweater, too. The way she's done the curve, it gives the illusion of a boatneck, but the extra fabric on the shoulders keeps in place. For me, I love the boatneck but they always seem to slide sideways, this gives the look and the fit I like. Great design!

I guess this is my favorite episode yet - and that’s saying a lot! I loved the garment changes! 😀I loved the info on Wovember. I also really like the New Releases section and did buy the Meadowbrook cardigan pattern. But, the video on Shetland brought tears to my eyes with the majestic scenery. Thank you for this travelogue - it was lovely!

Very late for a tip, but for anyone interested, put a layer of tissue paper on top and below the stitching of the steel. You should still be able to see through it. That stops any catching or sliding. Then it will just rip off where the needle went through the paper.

I was at Vogue Knitting Live last weekend in Seattle and quite by accident found Farmer's Daughter yarns. I bought yarn for the Time Trades shawl and am the most excited about it. What a beautiful pattern by Caitlin Hunter... highly recommend you check it out

I always knit when I'm watching your podcast and tend to look at my stitches rather often -- someone else commented that you kept her on her toes -- well I have to admit I had to stop knitting to ensure I wasn't having vision problems lol. Great job guys it was so much fun seeing all your sweaters/cardigans and WOW to all that knitting time. I also enjoyed the segment from Emma Boyle. As usual loads of awesome content :)

I'm still catching up on all your podcasts...love each one as they cover such interesting topics and your interviews are so interesting-love hearing how each one got into design and where they get their inspiration from. I also love that many source from their own sheep or from indy-dyers. I have yet to make a garment and have zero sewing skills BUT.... you are such an inspiration that I would love to give it a go. Another great episode! Hillesvåg Ask yarn is indeed woolen spun. They do sell some worsted spun yarns, but on their website they write that these are imported. Their Norwegian yarns are all woolen spun, which seems to be the tradition in Norway in general when it comes to non-superwash yarn that is used for knitting. An exception is Selbu spinneri, which produces semi-worsted yarns with wool from rare breeds ♥

Wow, this one is like a hand knit fashion show; the sweaters are changing in a snap. How do you do that? Andrew doesn't appear to move while Andrea keeps popping in and out with different outfits!

One more comment. I love your podcast. It's informative and entertaining and never boring. I also like Kristy Glass. There are a lot of random podcasts out there now that in my opinion are weak boring or just plain terrible. People think they can pick up a camera and yammer on with no focus or editing.
You don't do that. Both you and Kristy Glass have performing backgrounds, and I think that is key.
Nina Keilin I totally agree about the other yammering podcasts. Squealing and yarn hauls are not interesting! A&A are fantastic, aren’t they?

wish I could find a credit for the strikingly simple pine bough yoke design so well-coordinated with asymmetrically seated red *cardinal* -- its our state bird here in Pennsylvania and would make a lovely Xmas sweater (not one of the original designs featured at Ravelry link Elena Montenegro provided) I have a stash of emerald green yarn that stumped me (green not my color I'm afraid) until this popped up - keen to attempt a copy

Hi Andrea, I am sitting in front of my sewing machine ready to sew the sweater I have knit my son. I have 5 steek stitches. Should I be sewing on number one and five of the steek stitches or the stitches before and after the 5 steek stitches? It looks like you are knitting the stitches before and after the steek stitches, but I am not positive. Thank you.
