Bottom line had to be significantly better. In addition, I worked well past retirement age!
The idea that people aren’t working unless they are in an office is archaic. I worked from home from 20+ years. I was more productive between 9-5 and worked longer hours because I didn’t have a 90 minute commute at either end of the day. As long as I was delivering on my assigned tasks it was never an issue with my boss.
If that's private industry that's the company's choice. If it's the government you don't get to make that decision. There's a big difference whether you get paid by public money or private.

Telework and remote work aren't the same. In private sector, Telework is ok as long you work 80 to 90 percent in the office. Remote work even is ok if you are an IT expert. You can fix a network without being present and there is a lot work involved. We need to be pragmatic and not think in blue and red politics.
Absolutely right ! I worked in IT also and worked more and quicker if I was home rather that’s go into an office to do the troubleshooting. This shows ignorance of some folks
I hope his administration understands the difference between remote work vs telework. The teleworkers were always in the office before the pandemic. Remote workers, never were because their jobs were able to be done anywhere.
While you are correct. There were many jobs that some people did not need to be in the office. However, there were many that worked at the social security office. People used to come to the facility for "in-person" services. Then covid hit and they forced us to do much of it over the phone/on-line. This of course created even longer waits for vital paperwork. While it did save people time and money not having to do the commute to work. Some places really did suffer on the quality of the service being done. The Illinois unemployment office in Illinois even had their system crash because of the sudden mass use of on-line useage. I think their are a good amount of the jobs he is talking about can or should be done back in the office.
Don’t know if this is actually true, but even if so, I think the first step is to examine whether each particular job is more effectively accomplished from an office rather than remotely. While I don’t work for the fed gov, I know for the type of work I do, the location doesn’t matter. When everyone worked remotely during Covid, my team’s productivity actually went up.
It is true. The government has been teleworking since the mid-2000s. Most who do telework only telework 40% of the work week. It was W's policy originally because it saves the government money on office space, utilities, and office supplies. Productivity has been measured for over a decade and it has increased, not decreased. In this case an Agency negotiated a telework agreement with the union to cover the next 5 years and protect themselves from Trump. This Agency will be spending a lot more money on office space if the Administration wins in court and overturns telework. Government will also stop working in snow storms and emergencies now. Good job, Orange Jesus. Praise Be. Under his eye.
@@judigrumm7190well the government has tolerated that for many, many years. I have a family member that worked on Base and she would always say she never had real work to do and made a game of rolling a bottle around her desk. So essentially she made a good living by doing nothing

I was a federal probation officer for 24 years and since day one, all three districts I worked in (Alabama, Mississippi, and California) had a telework policy. Alabama was one day, Mississippi was three days, and California was two days. There were rules in place that you lose those privileges if your work performance suffers and you weren’t allowed to telework if you had office responsibilities to tend to. The policies were utilized because studies found that you can be more productive with less distractions at home, among other factors. The deal between SSA and their union does not allow the employees to have the authority to dictate their teleworking schedule. That authority still remains with the SSA , and they decide who can telework depending on the employee’s job function. It takes very little research to find out the full details of the deal.
Ignorance is Bliss. Federal Employees who telework are still working. Those who do not handle sensitive information have remote access to all files and systems needed to do their job. Most are more productive as they are not distracted by other people who like to talk. Also, the office isn't using resources, like electricity that's used to keep the buildings heated or cooled. Then, there's the personal savings in dry cleanings, fuel, and auto-insurance. Other savings include not needing a babysitter and being home when kids come home from school. The line of thinking that you have to be in the office to work is ridiculous. For some jobs, yes, you have to be there. Most of those involve hih level meetings, finance, contracts, and jobs involving sensitive information.
and yet we are paying billions a year for buildings that have no one in them. If you can't show up to a building you are fired. I worked from home for a few weeks and can tell you, my production was not what it is when at the office with someone to answer too.
It's not about people not working, they are doing jobs that can be done at home. By having them do jobs at home instead of an office it actually saves money in resources. Why are so many people so ignorant?!
You should... if you want to or not. I took Veterans Day off if my supervisor approved or not. Really it should be a law that employees with Veterans status should have the day off if they want without any repercussions.

Nonsense. If you are providing care to a family member while on the clock then you are not more productive while working from home. I heard that same nonsense during the 2019-2021 time frame. Usually it was a claim by the slackers. I too was forced to telework during the pandemic. There is no true substitute for being present on-site in the office. It's really funny. I have some family that are GS-15s in federal departments, they could perform their jobs the same from their office in DC, their house, or an outhouse in the middle of a swamp as long as it had internet and phone connection. If they were to get fired from their fed jobs, they'd just go work for a gov't contracted consultant like BAH where they'll do the exact same thing they're doing now but they'll be charging the gov't private sector contractor rates 10x higher than what they pay fed workers. Many kids during Covid school shutdowns logged on to their computers in the morning and went back to sleep. Many employees that work from home, log on for the day, however during the end of weekly/monthly audit of work accepted/completed, some of those that worked from home had a fraction of those in the office. Working remotely requires integrity, commitment, and dedication; which would likely be too much for those permitted to work remotely. This is not a friendly transition when you create obstacles for the incoming administration.
When I worked from home for a private sector company, I worked more and accomplished more too, and I enjoyed it. Many companies have adopted the work remotely model. They have rotating days to go to the office. They are saving on office expenses and downsizing space needed
If our country doesn't need those 49000 employees for our country's productivity, effectiveness and efficiency in the work force, why do we need them back to work to do the opposite? It's just common sense! No wonder smart Americans just fired Biden administration! I'm sure tomorrow will be better and better! Looking forward to having President Trump's administration again. Thank you for sharing this video. 🙏

That's the point. Haha you dont have to be in the office to work. It's 7 am and im at my desk at home working on a work project. Been here since 6 am. I don't log in and nobody at the office cares when I work only that I turn in my files on time @blazinjedi2008
@blazinjedi2008 I'm sure he does. And he doesn't need to report to a desk for 40 hours a week to be effective. That's the point I was hoping you would infer.
I worked a home triage job as a RN. It was a very productive job and it was continuous for my scheduled hours. As long as people, that work from home, are getting the job done, there should be no problem with remote work!
If a job can be done at home, what is the problem? There are many benefits working from home! One of which if I’m not feeling well I can still show up at my desk, do the job and not care what I look like to others. No sees me! I am quite productive at home and my company has the ability to keep tabs on workers when they are on line or off line, taking calls, how many, they can also measure how much work we are getting down by our activity level. If the system is not set up in this way, I understand going back to the office.
I’m a federal contractor that works from home. Why would you want to pay for office space to house me and 15 other federal employees? Water, electricity, meeting spaces office furniture? I pay for all my own everything’s. Like that’s stupid as hell. I get more done from home without office interactions I do when I’m in he office.
Pls stop it, Trump. I voted for you but do NOT send people back to offices. Many of us work very long hours from home because now we don't have to spend 1.5 hrs commuting. I guarantee you they won't get as much work out of people if they go back to the office. Sell the damn buildings. We don't need them. Also some of us have health issues and compromised immune systems. Going back to an office where people show up with the flu puts my life in danger.
It’s not like they are not working from home they are doing their job. This saves space and part issues. Trump you should make a concession and make sure you stop playing golf 300 times a year on the people’s time.
Not the everyday federal employee serving their country. They are trying to make them into some kind of enemy of the people. Is their waste? Sure, but it’s not ok to demonize people serving this country. Congress made all these rules and regulations, not the average federal employee.
So everyday people should just keep paying for this bullshit and keep our mouths shut... Right?.?.?. As we everyday people can barely pay the bills. While these 49,000 sit at home. I don't think so.
@kathywells-kp5lc Maybe, I don't think there's a lot of that left. I saw a documentary last year that showed a bunch of the subcontractors that were hired to put the wall up were on the Mexican side of the border and they were stealing the wall material that was laying there and taking it and selling it in Mexico for pennies on the dollar.
If workers are doing their jobs why does it matter where they work from? So Trump wants ppl to go in to the office, spend more on gas and food just to be present. Why? Some ppl work from different states. So now u wanna fire ppl who work well just bc they're not physically in the office? Tell me how that makes sense? This is ridiculous.
Well let's just look at the quality of phone calls from people who work at home. You can hear chickens and children in the background all kinds of music lots of times you can't understand what they're saying because there's so much interference. If folks worked at home and actually have really good telecommunication that would be one thing. Now those that don't actually have to talk at all I don't see any problem with them working at home
What honeymoon? It amazes me that ppl think working from home is a picnic in the park. It's really not as easy as people think. If this goes through, it will affect thousands of people who work really hard, but why would Trump consider the working class, though?
Luckily you are taking over peaceful but you created a mess causing unnecessary death and damage to your own government building and you are shameless and complaining about what?
I agree with Trump on certain policies and disagree on others. This is one I disagree with. I personally worked from home for two years now as a programmer and love it. I do my due diligence and then some and my department and I get along great. If the job allows for it (I.e. IT work and so on) then no one should be forced into an office setting in my opinion. Let us do our work however we find comfortable. The end result is what matters. The million dollar question is are we getting our work done? If yes then all should be well and good.
For what working from home? I get way more done at home than going into the office. Employees are relentless with personal talking talking and it makes it hard to get stuff done. A core day is good for meetings and team building but other than that, let the Federal workers work from home....provided that the work is getting done. If it's not then yeah they need to come into the office.
Trump sounds like he is too much of a coward to tell them 'you're fired' for doing a bad job, so he has to beg them to resign because of some wfh issue. What a wuss.
I worked remotely for 5 years before retirement and we worked. Logged into the computer everyday that I was scheduled. Working from home is awesome and you do have to work but you also save money on Gas, lunch, wear and tear on your car and on buying office attire. Tell me what the problem is please. Just cause your not in the office does not mean you do not work. It's who you work for needs to make sure you are doing what your suppose to.
Remote/hybrid is needed in 2024 and beyond. Being tied to a chair at an office after a 1+ hr commute doesn’t make sense. And parents, esp women benefit the most from remote or hybrid schedules.
It’s difficult to work from home if you have kids. They want your attention, get into things. You need to feed them, etc. Women I know who work from home send them to school or daycare.

As long as I was delivering on my assigned tasks it was never an issue with my boss.

Telework and remote work aren't the same. In private sector, Telework is ok as long you work 80 to 90 percent in the office. Remote work even is ok if you are an IT expert. You can fix a network without being present and there is a lot work involved. We need to be pragmatic and not think in blue and red politics.
True, there are some jobs that can be done like this or at least hybrid.
@@Merbella. Everything done by Trump is for optics and nothing more. He understands nothing.
It definitely depends on the people. But most are not self-motivated or goal oriented for profit in the government sector, especially.
Yeah, but I don’t think this is a disagreement on those that telecommute and work from home v. not being in the office.
Depends on motivation. Or dead beats playing the system

I say some, because I also know some that work remotely and work harder than they may be able to at the office due to interruptions. This is not a friendly transition when you create obstacles for the incoming administration.
When I worked from home for a private sector company, I worked more and accomplished more too, and I enjoyed it. Only problem was that I started work at 7 am in my jammies, so when lunch time came (often late) and I wanted to step out for lunch or errands, I would have to do my grooming first which ate into my lunch time. I always considered it a blessing to be able to work from home and not have to fight traffic.
My entire team worked 36% MORE hours during the 1st year of covid, working from home. We had no choice.
Exactly they should be fired if they aren't working and continue if they are working! Half the work half the pay. We also have a federal employee who outs in a FULL workday and accounted for. Goes in once a week or as needed and it's great.
We were moved to home during Covid and worked a as hard and were even more productive than at the office. We knew it was a privilege and if we effed up, then we would lose it and back to the ofgice. They even sold our building and continued wfh it after it was okay to come back to office. Saved them on over head. But we also had strict productivity measures in place as a call center. This is different. Leaving a building 90% empty and no measurements in place, ridiculous, also no means for improvement plans or means for holding someone accountable ie firing. Gravy Train funded by our tax payer dollars. Im all for work from home if they are productive, but for some jobs, meeting with people, coming up with strategies, writing policy, must be done in person or it languishes in a vacuum..which we saw over and over again within this past administration. Every implementation missed it's mark due to isolated ideas and no leadership. Leaving the mice to play and make their own rules, in all aspects. 😮😮😮

You're correct @@kathywells-kp5lc
This was only a clip. It's not the entirety of his words
@@kathywells-kp5lche stopped the sale through the courts.
49 thousand people work from home?
Grow up!
The honeymoon is over.
What honeymoon? It amazes me that ppl think working from home is a picnic in the park. It's really not as easy as people think. If this goes through, it will affect thousands of people who work really hard, but why would Trump consider the working class, though?
Some environments are so quiet, you can't even tell the person is working from home. I'm not sure where you're calling to...lol
Work from home has been proven to be more effective for all parties involved when the job can be done at home, say on a cumputer or phone
if it can be done at home, it can be imported to someone cheaper somewhere.
They continue to run but they can't hide. Fire every one of them
For what working from home? I get way more done at home than going into the office. Employees are relentless with personal talking talking and it makes it hard to get stuff done. A core day is good for meetings and team building but other than that, let the Federal workers work from home....provided that the work is getting done. If it's not then yeah they need to come into the office.
And hire unexperienced workers ..yeah, smart move. Work from home or office, wtf cares ? As long as it gets done.
Sounds like someone is jealous they have a job that doesn't allow remote work.
Trump sounds like he is too much of a coward to tell them 'you're fired' for doing a bad job, so he has to beg them to resign because of some wfh issue. What a wuss.
Went does it matter if they work remote?
You need to learn to write correct english
Yeah sassy I think he wants to resolve it all
Sounds like his nee Daddy Elon talking through him 🥴
I worked remotely for 5 years before retirement and we worked.
Thank You, Father God, for PRESIDENT TRUMP!!!! 🙏🏽🇺🇸🙏🏽🇺🇸🙏🏽🇺🇸🙏🏽
