Suzuki Bandit 1200 - how to Change the Chain Kit (Endless chain and with Rivet link type)

- Want to know how to change a chain kit on a motorcycle? THIS IS THE VIDEO TO WACH
Servus and welcome! I bought this Suzuki BANDIT N 1200 MY 97 (GSF 1200 GV75A) and it was in a bad condition.
In part 1 and 2 we got the bike running and I am still very happy about it because I bought the bike without even knowing if the engine turns.
Now it is time to change the chain kit because the old endless chain is worn too bad. So we take out the rear wheel, clean everything and replace the rear sprocket. After that is done we mount a new chain and close the rivet type chain link with at special chain tool. Everything is shown and explained in detail. With the new chain on we can replace the front sprocket. I forgot to loosen it beforehand but thats no problem. When everything is replaced and cleaned the sprocket cover goes back on and the rear wheel back in. Last thing to do is to adjust the chain play.
All torques are mentioned in the video.
In the next part we will synchronize the carburettors.
We do every step together and everything is showed and explained in detail.

@@bikedogtor1663 I am going to have to change my change cause as I tighten the chain it gets tight then loose. About 16,000 miles on my 2002 Bandit 1200. Got it used with 5,000 miles on it 5 years ago. The chain adjuster is on the last 2 marks from the end of the adjusting scale. So it is really stretched out. Nice Video, I was wondering what was behind the plate that covers the front sprocket.

And what’s the rear sprocket nut size?
Hey there, the reason was that I forgot it before removing the chain. I don´t remember the nut size and the bike is sold, otherwise I would look it up.

I use whatever chain lube I find in the shops. In my opinion it doesn't make a big difference if its called chain lube. Have fun

Hi! Sorry no links but the chain tool is from "Kellermann" and I highly recommend it.
There should be a second set of O-rings before the plate is installed! The video skips this so I hope you did not forget them.

Where do they go?
@@lpsbbydb on the pins between the outer plates and the inner plates. It seals to keep lubrication in and dirt out where the chain needs to move.

If you have the proper chain and correct legenth the you cam feed it on using the old chain without taking anything off ? Unless you actually need to change sprockets. Just sayinh

Dude what type of chain did u used? Is that the 530? Or 630?
530 I think nothing else fits?

Wie groß ist die Mutter am Ritzel? 32 oder? Muss man sich aufsitzen um Kette zu Prüfen?
Ich glaube 32, bin ich aber nicht mehr ganz sicher. Die Kettenspannung wird immer aufgebockt geprüft.
Bikedogtor Manche sagen aufgebockt manche anders rum... Bin ziemlich neu und deshalb frage ich. Thx
Wenn das hinterrad einfedert strafft sich die Kette etwas. Deshalb gibt man der Kette etwas Spiel und das wird dann logischerweise aufgebockt eingestellt. Wenn noch Fragen aufkommen, ich helfe gerne.

Alten Muttern fürs Kettenblatt nehmen oder nichtmal etwas Loctite verwenden 🙈...die paar Euro fur Muttern sollten drin sein . Bei alten Mopeds könnte man Ruhig den Schleifschutz mit ersetzen 😉

@@jannisya3143 Das ist nichtmal das größte Problem an dem ganzen Video...hab jetzt vier Videos von vier verschiedenen Leuten angeschaut, an denen vier verschiedene Arbeiten am Motorrad durchgeführt werden und ich könnte bei jedem einzelnen Video kotzen wie vorgegangen wird...
Hauptsache ein deutscher Videotitel und im Video wird nur "Englisch" gesprochen. 🤣

Haha man relax, your wheel and tires get way worse hits while driving.
I was just reading the factory service manual for the Kawasaki EX250J and they literally tell you to kick the tire in to move the wheel and take off the chain.
